SHOW DAILY DAY THREE

Wednesday 14 February

DESIGNING THE INDUSTRY’S FUTURE:

COOPERATION, LEADERSHIP AND NEW APPROACHES The first discussion of the second day of the EGYPS 2018 Strategic sessions covered Egypt’s potential to become a regional energy hub. Talking about the viability of investing in the Egyptian energy sector and the possibility of Egypt supplying its own Energy and beginning to export in the region, the speakers were optimistic about the countries chances should the right strategies be implemented. Mohamed Moanes, First Undersecretary for Gas Affairs at the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, outlined the progress made over the last few years citing the increase of production measuring 4.6 billion cubic feet of gas since the start of 2017. The ministry plans to use the rapid increase in gas production to change consumption in the country, referring to the current subsidies given on fuel to maintain availability to all the population. He also underlined the reasons to invest in Egypt in the current market and said that the ministry has taken measures to make investing in the Egyptian market both easy and accessible. “This is the best time to invest in Egypt.” Maurizio Coratella, CEO of Edison International Spa, detailed his thoughts on Egypt’s capability to become a significant player in the region. He stated that Egypt also has the important infrastructure of pipelines and connections to shores that allow investors to rapidly enter the market. “Egypt has all the ingredients to play the role of hub in the region. It has infrastructure, storage, refineries, fertiliser companies, and its geographical position; these provide the backbone to materialise the project,” Coratella added.

Keith Elliott, Senior Vice President of the East Mediterranean for Noble Energy, underscore three points he thought crucial to Egypt fully realising its potential. Firstly the resources, which as shown by the Zohr gas field and the undiscovered areas in both the Western Desert and the Delta area, Egypt has in plenty. Secondly, infrastructure, which he noted is “advantaged in this region with respect to pipeline infrastructure and LNG infrastructure.” The third and most critical piece to the puzzle is industry and governmental cooperation, citing Egypt as a textbook example in this area due to the ability to begin extraction from the Zohr gas field only two years after its discovery. This sort of thing “only happens when there is a deep cooperation between government and industry. It is an extremely exciting time, both locally and globally to be in the region.” Elliott continued saying that the level on information supplied by the Egyptian government is very satisfactory, as “the access to data and the access to the market” have both been provided to Noble Energy by the Ministry of Petroleum. “The market and infrastructure liberalisation have allowed upstream producers to see cable access to what is now a more fluid market than in the past.” Jeremy Weir, CEO of Trafigura Group, said that Egypt will most likely not fit the traditional model of being either an export or import country. “There is potential for a massive turnaround from importing to exporting in a very short time,” and depending on domestic consumption, Egypt could sit somewhere in the middle of the two. He also said that Egypt is “ideally placed” to serve the energy needs of both the Mediterranean and

growing markets such as India and China, whose need for energy “has been predicted by some to increase up to 400% by 2030.” Weir also gave some insight on the trajectory of gas prices in the near future. “We have seen good growth in the emerging markets, but with this growth a balance will be needed in the case of too much supply.” He sees the possibility of two potential prices depending on whether LNG is competing with oil or coal, “the price will be dependant on that.” The pricing mechanisms of the gas market in China is another affecting factor is another affecting factor, according to Weir.

DESIGNING THE INDUSTRY’S FUTURE: COOPERATION, LEADERSHIP AND NEW APPROACHES Continued from page 1

Jean Cahuzac, CEO of Subsea7, explained that, “there are three main reasons of success, collaboration with clients, partnership with local suppliers - working with the local industry -, and fast track on the development of the industry.” Highlighting the importance of human capital in the oil and gas industry, Hatem Soliman, Senior Advisor to the CEO at Schlumberger, mentioned that investors are more confident about Egypt’s oil and gas sector than before. “We believe in Egypt. We have had a successful history in Egypt, including hiring many Egyptians.” Meanwhile Iman Hill, Technical Director, General Manager UAE and President Egypt at Dana Gas, stated that ”99% of workforce - in the company’s branch - in Egypt are Egyptians small companies have their role play as well.”

“There is no one solution and we will have to manage the market around these factors.” Walid Sheta, Cluster President for North East Africa And the Levant from Schneider Electric, spoke about the further potential for Egyptian gas reserves with respect to electricity. “Egypt has a platform to exchange electricity with its neighbours,” the potential to electricity generated using gas stands as a way to add value to the gas reserves. Gas and electricity fit in line with the way the energy market has been moving. The ability to produce cleaner energy that fits with CO2 footprint standards will open doors for Egypt to export to Europe. However, Sheta believes that for the potential to be reached, a bigger community of investors is needed to collaborate and fulfil all the needs of the industry in Egypt. William Coates, CEO of ONE LNG spoke about Egypt’s current situation in the historical context of the energy market. “Having just emerged from the worst downturn since the mid-1980s,” Egypt is unique in significant optimism in many fronts in the industry. He sighted the discovery of the resources and the proactive stance of the ministry and regulators as reasons for the Egyptian anomaly; “safe, reliable, low cost and rapid investment,” will further separate Egypt from the competition. “The next two or three years look very bright in Egypt.” The moderator, Khaled Abu Bakr, Chairman of TAQA Arabia closed the session saying, “People from the government are talking like marketers. I have not seen that for a long time.” Successful Partnerships in MENA and the Mediterranean The second discussion of second day focused on the importance and success of partnerships in the industry for the growth of both companies and nations. Maria Moraeus Hanssen, CEO of DEA, started with a fundamental point regarding partnerships. “This is a concession based industry, all extraction is only allowed by the state. Therefore, the first consideration is local and national governments.” She continued saying, “you cannot do it alone. Those who handle partnerships best can be the most successful.” Hanssen referred to her relationship with H.E. Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum Tarek El Molla as a main factor behind DEA’s success in Egypt. Ali Al Jarwan, CEO of Dragon Oil, echoed Hanssen’s sentiments, noting, “You must keep relations with government, understanding what the government wants exactly.” Jarwan said he was practically impressed with Egypt, in terms of cooperation and partnerships, adding that the operator must demonstrate the best way forward and jointly mitigate risks with the government as a key to success.

Continuing to speak with respect to partnerships in Egypt, Kamel Al Sawi, President of Kuwait Energy Egypt, referred to the Egyptian government’s efforts to rebuild the country since the 2011 revolution, “it has been progressively easier to find a formula to interact with the government since then.” The moderator of the discussion, Nicolas Katcharov, General Manager of Egypt Branch VP North Africa, noted that partnerships in Egypt seem to be much easier “today, than they were yesterday.” Walid Nasr, Chairman of the Board of the Lebanese Petroleum Administration, spoke about partnerships from the perspective of attracting investors to Lebanon. As a newcomer to the oil and gas industry, “we aim to develop partnerships on three levels: institutional, private, and country to country.” From the national side, partnerships involve finding markets for the resources. Nasr said that Lebanon found cooperation with countries in the region important to be able to capitalise on both local and international demand. Both Demetris Fessas, Executive Director of the Cyprus Hydrocarbons Company, and Ammari Mohamed Mansour, Member of the Board of Directors for NOC Libya, spoke about the challenges of juggling market satisfaction with governmental regulations and local infrastructure. Fessas stated that “regional cooperation is related to prices in the market,” highlighting the importance of paying attention to local needs when considering fruitful partnerships. Mansour stated that the Libyan government tries to cooperate with partners in terms of regulations and laws in the country in order to help the Libyan energy sector grow. “Our duty to help the companies and partners find solutions to any problems,” he added. Hanssen further noted that “the aim of the industry is to provide energy to people,” which is why resources of a given country are of high national importance in terms of personal supply. This need, according to him, sometimes creates problems for “cross-country crossborder market dynamics,” but remains a high priority consideration for investing companies. Leading the Industry Change Leadership was another core interest of the second day of the Strategic Conference. A group of distinguished speakers discussed the future of developing the industry and leading the change on many regional and international levels. Moreover, the discussions tackled the financial and economic future of the industry, in addition to the potential of having a deeper collaboration and integration between local and international institutions in the near future. Within the session, speakers addressed the role of international strategic alliances and partnerships in defining the future direction and growth of the region.

Moreover, speakers tackled the 2018 new concessions and upcoming bid licensing rounds by having a full insight into the revised contractual frameworks and petroleum agreement models created to attract international strategic partners and project investors. The importance of strengthening the relationship between NOCs, IOCs, and service and technology provider in times of reform and market recovery was further highlighted, as speakers encouraged international investment and cooperation agreements to overcome regional challenges in achieving energy efficiency, reducing co2 carbon footprints, further maximising and transforming operations and improving productivity, plus tapping into and creating added value with downstream expansion, diversification and integration. “Shell has long and distinguished history in this country. More than 100 years we have been in upstream, onshore, offshore, LNG, midstream, trading, lubricants and we continue to be part of the fabric of this country. What we bring as an IOC, particularly over the last two years, is how industry went through transformation that is driven by our ability to manage our drilling operations using big data to bring much more competitive landscape to the whole world,” Samia Nehme, Vice President Deal Delivery at Royal Dutch Shell, said. Moreover, Grady Ables, Senior Region Vice President at Apache, explained that the company is achieving exploration success in the Western Desert. Meanwhile Ahmed Kenawi, Senior Vice President, Middle East and North Africa Region at Halliburton, mentioned that value proposition in the company is very simple as it aims to maximise asset values, weather by increasing production or lowering cost and collaboration. Modernizing the Sector The conference further tackled different paths to leverage the East Mediterranean’s abundant gas supplies in the light of its vital role in fulfilling the global energy demands and supporting supplies to Europe and beyond. Speakers equally discussed ways of ensuring the right export infrastructure in place to facilitate international trade between Eastern and Western markets. Furthermore, speakers looked over the importance of creating a competitive regional energy and trading hub through a better understanding of pricing, strategy, trends and country specific producer, transporter and supplier dynamics of Egypt and Jordan. Last but not least, developing in-country oil and gas infrastructure for national grid and production transportation, such as LNG trains, pipeline networks, gas processing facilities, and liquefaction and regasification terminal requirements was highly supported. “It has been a great conference. The event brings a very high value outcome,” Zane Ahmadein, Sales and Operations at OCHO Energy, stressed.

CONQUERING UNCONVENTIONALS THROUGH COLLABORATION AND TECHNOLOGY

As the world’s energy needs continue to rise and more countries pursue greater degrees of energy independence, the new frontier of unconventionals will continue to expand. The success of unconventionals across North America will find greater footing in the Middle East and North Africa. The exploration, development and production of unconventional resources is highly variable and requires a collaborative, holistic understanding of the subsurface and the reservoir. Enhanced recovery techniques, such as hydraulic fracturing, combined with innovative technologies can optimize well placement and well design, identify sweet spots and improve fracture treatment and spacing to get more production at the lowest cost. Halliburton’s expertise in unconventionals spans decades as it collaborates with customers to engineer solutions that maximize asset value and lower the cost per barrel of oil equivalent. This objective is realized by accelerating reservoir understanding and reducing uncertainty through subsurface insight, developing fluids to increase drilling efficiency and well productivity through customized chemistry and delivering reliably and efficiently at the wellsite while

reducing the environmental footprint.

increased production and lower costs per BOE.

FracInsight® analysis, a workflow that leverages the best available horizontal well data to select perforation clusters and stage locations, is one of the technologies that play a significant role in developing high performing wells. It is designed to create a more consistent fracturing operation by eliminating the fracturing of nonproductive rock and predicting how the reservoir will respond to stimulation.

Radian recently helped an operator identify previously unseen differences between formation layers to provide a much clearer understanding of the geological structure and position of the well. This resulted in cost savings by avoiding more expensive logging while drilling technology on the job.

The service is especially valuable in new and undeveloped unconventional assets that often require operators prove reserves without the expense of drilling dozens of wells to establish a learning curve. Technologies like FracInsight that draw on basin specific data are critical to driving better producing wells at lower costs. Accurate well placement is another challenge in unconventional reservoirs. Halliburton developed the Radian™ Azimuthal Gamma Ray and Inclination Service, a geosteering solution that provides realtime, high-quality borehole images and continuous inclination measurements, to help operators accurately place the wellbore in the sweet spot for

Companies expanding their unconventionals presence across the Middle East and North Africa must also overcome the unique challenges they face. Due to the need for long horizontal drilling in the region, and the challenges this presents, Halliburton designed the Geo-Pilot Duro Rotary Steerable System to increase drilling efficiency with a higher rate of penetration. New drilling motor technology has also enhanced reliability so operators can drill longer runs while reducing costly non-productive time resulting from motor failure. As demonstrated in North America, unconventionals hold great promise and technologies that help reduce uncertainty and increase production are critical to their success.

DEFINING THE FUTURE DIRECTION OF OIL AND GAS PROJECT FINANCING

NEW FOR 2018

As Egypt develops its vast oil and gas reserves, new projects and new opportunities arise for oil and gas majors, leading companies to look at new investments and new project developments to further expand their portfolios and market position. In parallel with operational prospects, financing methods are also becoming available, such as different lending options, IPOs, and access to different sources of capital. In this line, EGYPS Finance and Investment Lunch gathered, on Tuesday 13 February, government representatives, NOCs, IOCs, local operators, local and international banks, and private equity firms to discuss financing structure opportunities for mega projects throughout the value chain, as well as the role of M&As, JVs, and IPOs as a platform to support growth and diversification across the oil and gas sector. Unleashing the Potential During the first part of the session, Yomna Khatab, Assistant Director, Macro Fiscal Policy Unit at Egypt’s Ministry of Finance presented Egypt´s most recent macroeconomic indicators. “Oil and gas sector increased by around 10% in the first quarter of the current fiscal year. Natural gas sector witnessed an increase of 24%,” she stated. Khatab further discussed building a robust financial and economic environment to harness Egypt’s untapped oil and gas potential, through reviewing financial agreements to support the government’s economic reforms whilst uncovering the wealth of new investment opportunities. She highlighted the importance of creating new policies and implementing successful strategies to attract foreign direct investment that will develop and consolidate Egypt’s oil and gas industry. “The government’s programme aims to reach cost recovery in the main fuel products especially diesel and gasoline by 2019,” Khatab said. The second part of the session focused on defining steps for success to support and finance the growth of Egypt’s Oil and Gas Industry. Speakers discussed the future of new energy projects in Egypt and the needed financing mechanisms, in addition to the possibility of guiding the operators to successfully secure oil and gas funding. “The oil and gas sector is the backbone of the economy,” highlighted Ahmed Mortada, Associate Banker - Energy Sector, The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). From her side, Heba Abdel Latif, Debt Capital Markets Head, Commercial International Bank mentioned that Egypt’s future will be in “developing the midstream and downstream.’ Moreover, speakers argued about the most efficient way for companies to secure capital efficiently and ensure portfolio optimisation and create growth, highlighting the role of private equities within the oil and gas environment and understanding what alternative sources of capital funding they are offering to oil and gas companies. ”For upstream, I would say that the financing is depending on the stage of development, so if we start by seismic, exploration, drilling up to development drilling it is all equity and it will probably remain so, because you know the big oil majors can raise debt on their balance sheet at very low rates thanks to their high rating, and then finance these projects in countries like Egypt with their balance sheet,” Youssef Beshay, Senior Banker – Egypt BNP Paribas explained. “In terms of banking financing, I would even expect that bank financing in the upstream would also continue to shrink,” he added. “You are getting more options as you go down in the value chain,” Beshay highlighted. When asked about the challenges facing the oil and gas industry in Egypt, Walid Labadi, Country Manager – Egypt, Libya And Yemen, International Finance Corporation (IFC) mentioned that instability is one of the main concerns, in addition to energy supply shortage. “However, things are

6

moving in the right direction. Egypt is on its way to be an energy hub,” he said. Meanwhile, Beshay explained that arrears management is the main challenge facing the industry, noting that ”the energy market is still attracting investors”. As for opportunities, Beshay explained that Egypt has good public sector assets, yet, “listing oil and gas companies is the biggest opportunity.” In the third part of the session, the discussion tackled the future direction of global energy project financing for growth, portfolio diversification, and creating opportunities. The speakers stressed the importance of understanding what financing structures are on offer for oil and gas companies to further sustain a global competitive advantage and gain access to financing for mega projects. “We have to be always proud that the banking sector proved to be resilient and managed to absorb all the shocks that we have been facing. It acted as a catalyst for the economy,” said Tarek Fayed, Chairman of Banque Du Caire. The session also tackled comprehending energy project financing methods, dynamics and trends in order to define a better transaction techniques and secure better returns on investment. From his side, Mohamed Farid Saleh, Chairman for the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) explained that “one of the amendments in the capital market law was allowing for issuing for short term bonds.” Discussing the potential financing opportunities in Egypt’s oil and gas sector, David Chi, Regional Vice President and General Manager at Apache Egypt mentioned, “We are looking for an opportunity that maximises returns and try to balance between risk and rewards. I think Egypt’s petroleum sector is really blessed with a very significant and tremendous resource base.”

MS. PAKINAM KAFAFI CEO OF TAQA ARABIA: PROVIDES INSIGHTS ABOUT THE ROLE OF WOMEN IN THE ENERGY SECTOR Kafafi speaks about the essentials of attaining a promising oil and gas sector while also open doors for more women to lead the oil and natural gas industry. She believes that the Egyptian oil and natural gas industry is no longer male-dominated, but now women of caliber, education and experience are now making the criteria not gender saying: over the past decade, the energy industry has witnessed a noticeable increase in the number of women in the sector workforce

EGYPT AND NORTH AFRICA ARE EXPERIENCING AN UNPRECEDENTED GROWTH IN OIL & GAS INDUSTRY WITH WIDE RANGE OF OPPORTUNITIES AHEAD SPECIALLY IN THE EAST MEDITERRANEAN AND THE EGYPTIAN WESTERN DESERT AND THE RED SEA and future - generation of female graduates and employees need to acquire to keep upto-date with the transition?

Increasingly NOCs and IOCs are leaning towards, and adopting integration of facilities as a combat strategy for declining oil prices. Simultaneously, experts are predicting peak oil demand from developed countries in the coming few years. In your opinion, how will peak oil demand affect employment opportunities for the oil and gas industry; particularly local SMEs based within Egypt and North Africa? Undoubtedly, this puts more responsibility on companies to balance between production capacity at low prices and maintaining trained and efficient manpower. Egypt and north Africa are experiencing an unprecedented growth in oil & gas industry with wide range of opportunities ahead specially in the east Mediterranean and the Egyptian western desert and the red sea, collaboration and transfer of knowledge is an essential tool between NOC’s & IOC’s. SME’s will also have uprising opportunities due to the current plan of market deregulation and major opportunities available yet the only obstacle would still be high overheads of qualified technical calibers but with the peaking oil demand and rise in prices, SME’s would be encouraged to expand and hire new qualified calibers thus enhancing their competition levels. Unlike oil, growth in gas demand and supply will continue to grow thereby generating newer opportunities for revenue and business, particularly in the developing nations and markets. In your opinion, do you think this growing sector can offer opportunities for women? If yes, what are some key technical skills that the current -

Egyptian women are increasingly conquering fields that have traditionally been dominated by men; earlier last year, Egypt appointed its first female governor, the first Egyptian female pilot to fly Egypt Air's biggest jet airliner, the Boeing 777-333 was also appointed in 2016, Women working as ministers and judges are becoming a common thing to see nowadays. The Energy Sector is also a part of that change, the knowledge of having a work place reserved only for men is no longer available. Calibre, education and experience are now making it the criteria and not the gender. Over the past decade, the energy industry has witnessed a noticeable increase in the number of women in the sector workforce, several energy companies now boast female CEOs While there are clear efforts to attract more women into the energy sector and to overcome barriers evident in the industry, more needs to be done to encourage and maintain a female workforce. A major motivator for recruiting and retaining women in the energy industry is access to a wider pool of talent. there is increased evidence and recognition that gender balanced and diverse management teams at all levels produce positive business outcomes. It is no secret that men and women approach business differently – the correlation between diverse thinking and broader solutions to problems is clear. A recent McKinsey & Company study suggests that if women enjoyed the same economic opportunities as men (colloquially known as “the full potential scenario”), then the Middle East North Africa region would gain $2.7 trillion by 2025. There is general agreement that the involvement of women in leadership positions is an important driver of organizational effectiveness. Lastly, you are a speaker at the upcoming EGYPS 2018 Women In Energy conference. How can the conference contribute with

women empowerment in the oil and gas sector? This is a great chance to talk about women in the gas industry about my experience as the CEO of one of the biggest private sector energy company operating in Egypt and the MENA Region, also to give the audiences a quick update on the energy downstream energy activity, the potential of future expansion and the governments excellent deregulation plan. It’s also worth mentioning the newer arenas of integration between the renewable energy booming sector in Egypt with the oil and gas, as well as to highlight the future important role of the private sector within Egypt infrastructure boom.

A RECENT MCKINSEY & COMPANY STUDY SUGGESTS THAT IF WOMEN ENJOYED THE SAME ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES AS MEN (COLLOQUIALLY KNOWN AS “THE FULL POTENTIAL SCENARIO”), THEN THE MIDDLE EAST NORTH AFRICA REGION WOULD GAIN $2.7 TRILLION BY 2025

ALKHAZAIMI ADVISES BUILDING RESILIENT SECURITY SOLUTIONS FOR A PROSPEROUS OIL & GAS SECTOR Director, Research Centre of Cyber Security at New York University Hoda Alkhazaimi speaks about methods and techniques for a prosperous oil and gas industry in Egypt as she speaks at EGYPS about HSE in Energy Conference. First of all, security is always about staying alert and update with the current state of affairs in technology, attacks and global events that will influence the status of any regional or national security units.

In times of economic slow-down, in your opinion, what are the key security priorities that should not be neglected for oil and gas infrastructure in the Northern African region? Industrial Infrastructure security, Automation and robotics security and Smart Grids Security are important factors to consider when it comes to oil and gas infrastructure in MENA. This is highly due to the fact that these systems are built with security as an afterthought but not as a main component that should be integrated or designed within the systems from the initial timeline of these projects. A comprehensive security management system is essential in helping identify risk and can provide cost savings if conducted correctly. What is your advice on the most important security measures for Chief Executives and high profile leaders in the oil and gas sector in North Africa region? The main advise that I can give is to focus on building sustainable and resilient security solutions. This will leads us to rethink the way we approach building and managing security departments. These establishments should definitely consider having their own R&D teams that have proper resources to build their own in-house security solutions and be prepared for any possible offensive penetration possibilities and attacks. If there is one thing you should not outsource it is your security in 2018. Periodic risk assessments are necessary to forecast future threats and risks. In your opinion how can a company plan for the security of its facilities over a 15-25 year lifecycle bearing in mind that long term investment for the security of physical assets requires knowledge of risks that are not on existing risk registers?

16

EGYPS SHOW DAILY

In order to set up a long-term vision for your own security development lifecycle, you will definitely have to have the right mindset and skilled human capital that will help you think in an interdisciplinary and holistic manner when it comes to security because you do not want to have a gap in your analysis that will be left unseen or analysed. This is once more the capacity that you will have in your R&D unit that will help you build your own prompt solutions once you need them. Topics around emerging issues and technologies in security can always start as spin-off projects in the main project to initiate future results for any risk analysis process. In your opinion, would the region benefit from companies sharing business continuity plans and intelligence on threats? If yes, how would you advise this should happen when companies may be in competition with each other? Information sharing if done properly might be a positive aspect to incorporate in your security strategy. However, if it will be built to shift the focus around security of obsolete systems or legacy systems that are weak then this is a critical negative aspect that you should steer away from. There should be a framework and guidelines on how to build these information sharing systems. This includes making sure that stakeholders within this component are sharing relevant and generic information that adds value to the analysis process of the security posture of the business this includes the number of incidents registered in the systems and reasons behind them. Of course, while maintaining a conflict of interest-free communication.

offer any meaningful reductions in risk. In your opinion how should companies quantify how new technology may reduce the risk profile of oil and gas facility and its personnel, do you have advice on how companies can do assurance and make choices on upgrading security systems? Two major components will help in here are Testing and Validation unit and Security Operation Center. Once again a company should have a certified internal testing and validation units within their R&D units of Security to make sure that they can test and evaluate through proper phases of penetration testing of any component in terms of forecasting possible breaches that these devices or component will introduce before actually adapting them in their operational network or organization. Security Operation Centers will help you on a later stage maintain a certain level of monitoring and analysis of these components once they are implemented on the operational network and to work around the possible threats that they might introduce on the operational network if any.

I ADVISE FOCUSING ON BUILDING SUSTAINABLE AND RESILIENT SECURITY SOLUTIONS WHICH WILL LEAD TO RETHINKING THE WAY WE APPROACH BUILDING TECHNIQUES AND MANAGING SECURITY DEPARTMENTS

A proper and timely risk assessment will help in identifying needed security kit or upgrades. Without this, security systems are put into place and at times do not

Our midstream presence in Egypt encompasses our worldclass Egyptian LNG (ELNG) facilities; a jointventure with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), among others. Our downstream business, Shell Lubricants Egypt (SLE), has a growing market share close to 20%. The safety and integrity of our assets has and will always remain paramount. harm to the people and the environment. Our commitment to Egypt does not stop here; we have a rich social investment agenda in the country that focuses on enterprise development, energy efficiency, capacity building for the youth, and road safety. Shell Egypt voluntarily contributes to the well-being of the communities of where we operate; being a good ‘corporate citizen’. Our flagship program “Shell Intilaaqah Egypt” provides entrepreneurship training to young Egyptians and helps them become self-employed by starting their own small businesses. Shell partners with universities, schools and governments as they focus on the importance of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) system, where our “Shell Eco-Marathon” program falls – it is a student competition where teams compete to deliver an energy efficient car that travels the farthest distance using one litre of fuel. Out of our core believe to provide the best youth caliber to the Egyptian oil and gas sector, Shell has been a strategic partner – since 2007 – to “Al Amal Program”. The program aims to bridge the skills gap between education and industry by developing non-technical skills, helping the future scientists, geologists and geophysicists become more competitive to join the industry. Ushering in a new era, Shell will continue to support Egypt to have a modernized oil and gas sector, achieve self-sufficiency, and become a regional energy hub.
