The Power of Philanthropy Every day, I am inspired and fueled by the commitment of our community. This year your support brought comfort, innovation, and healing to thousands of patients and families across FMOL Health | Our Lady of the Lake. More than $5 million was invested in clinical programs, new equipment, and experiences that reflect the heart of our mission — and the transformative power of philanthropy.

Because of your contributions, we installed a 3T MRI at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital, wrapped pediatric spaces in calming visuals, expanded access to music therapy, and established our Cancer Institute Food Pantry to nourish patients during treatment. You made possible the creation of adaptive tools through 3D printing for kids’ community integration, injury prevention programs and community wellness initiatives like Geaux Get Healthy.

These stories and many more are a testament to what happens when generosity is put into action. Every gift, whether a major investment or a round-up at the register, makes a difference. Together, we are creating spaces where children feel safe, families feel supported, and every patient receives care that goes beyond clinical medicine.

Michael Jackson, a Baton Rouge native and graduate of Southern University Law School, has spent his career serving the community through law and public service. After years as a Louisiana State Representative, he now works as an attorney and serves as Senior Vice President for Delta Utilities.

Michael’s longstanding interest in healthcare policy made his transition to board service a natural fit as he recognized the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

His passion for community health and governance has been a consistent thread throughout his career, including his role as general counsel and founding board member of CareSouth Medical & Dental. He has also held executive roles in government affairs and strategic partnerships, further strengthening his ability to navigate complex systems and advocate for community-focused initiatives.

He joined the Our Lady of the Lake Foundation Board in November 2024, marking a full-circle moment in his journey. Michael brings a unique perspective shaped by his legal and policy experience and is grateful for the opportunity to contribute.

“I’ve learned that community governance and influence are critical. The Our Lady of the Lake Foundation Board is a best practice in regard to how governance and influence can be transformative for a community,” he said.

Looking ahead, he hopes to continue encouraging innovative thinking and engagement, setting an example for his two daughters and helping to shape a healthier future for the Baton Rouge community. With a career rooted in public service, strategic leadership, and advocacy, Michael brings a wealth of experience to the Foundation Board, strengthening our mission to bring healing ministry and quality care to the communities we are privileged to serve.

CAR-T Clinical Trial: Breakthrough Cancer Therapy Our Cancer Institute launched a groundbreaking CAR-T clinical trial, offering personalized cell therapy for patients with blood cancers. This advanced treatment uses a patient’s own immune cells to target and destroy cancer, representing a major leap forward in precision oncology and access to cutting-edge care in Louisiana.

Partners in Children’s Health: Advancing Pediatric Care Across Louisiana Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital continues with its strategic affiliation with Manning Family Children’s in New Orleans. This collaboration expands access to pediatric subspecialists across our region, builds centers of excellence and reshapes how care is delivered — ensuring more families across Louisiana receive world-class treatment closer to home.

Transcatheter Tricuspid Valve Replacement (TAVR): Regional First Our Lady of the Lake Heart & Vascular Institute became the first in the region to perform TAVR using the EVOQUE system. This minimally invasive procedure offers new hope to patients with complex heart conditions, reducing recovery time and improving outcomes.

Da Vinci® DV5 Surgical Robots: Precision in Practice With the addition of three Da Vinci® DV5 surgical robots, Our Lady of the Lake is advancing minimally invasive surgery. These AI-powered systems enhance precision, reduce recovery times, and allow surgeons to collaborate in real time — bringing world-class surgical care to more patients.

Leading With Purpose E.J. Kuiper joined FMOL Health as President and CEO in summer 2024, bringing more than two decades of Catholic healthcare leadership.

His approach centers on building strong, mission-driven teams and creating a culture where every team member feels empowered to deliver exceptional care.

A New Era in Imaging

For 15 years, the Driving the Future Lexus Car Raffle has shown what’s possible when a community rallies around a cause. With over $16 million raised, one $50 ticket at a time, the raffle has funded milestones like building our Children’s Hospital, acquiring cutting-edge equipment, and creating healing spaces for kids.

The arrival of our 3T MRI marks a leap forward in diagnostic care. One of only two in Louisiana, it delivers faster scans and sharper images, helping physicians diagnose with precision and treat with confidence. It’s more than a machine — it’s a gift from the community that will touch thousands of lives.

Meanwhile, Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) partners prove that everyday generosity — like rounding up at the register — adds up to extraordinary impact. These gifts help ensure every child receives expert care and meaningful support.

In fiscal year 2025 alone, raffle and CMN contributions fueled over $5 million in investments — including a new 3T MRI and whimsical wraps for pediatric imaging spaces.

Wrapped in Care Hospital visits can be scary for kids. Thanks to donor-funded wraps, our imaging rooms now feature playful Louisiana-themed designs that ease anxiety and promote healing — a reflection of our commitment to treating the whole child.

CMN Partners: Making Miracles Together Children’s Miracle Network partners make a difference in countless ways — from national retailers to local businesses, every gift helps create a better experience for our youngest patients.

Walmart and Sam’s Club: Over $4.1 Million Raised Locally Through years of register round-ups, employee giving and community engagement, Walmart and Sam’s Club has surpassed $4.1 million in local support. Their commitment is a powerful example of sustained impact — and they’re one of many CMN partners making miracles happen.

Rifton Stander for Pediatric Therapy Gym Specialized equipment like the Rifton Stander helps children build strength, balance and independence. This donor-funded addition to our therapy gym is already changing lives.

Mamaroo Covers for Infant Soothing Infants need to be soothed — but caregivers can’t always hold them. Thanks to CMN support, we’ve added Mamaroo covers to help keep babies calm and comfortable in a safe, hygienic way. These small touches make a big difference in the NICU and beyond.

Where Compassion Meets Innovation: Donors Advance the Future of Cancer Care The future of cancer care is being shaped by a powerful combination of compassion and innovation — made possible by the generosity of our donors.

Among those leading the way is Debbie Vidaurre, who made a heartfelt gift to establish the first-ever Cancer Institute Food Pantry in honor of her late husband, Victor Vidaurre, a Vice President of Mission for FMOL Health, having served the ministry at St. Elizabeth Hospital and St. Francis Medical Center. Her generosity ensures that patients undergoing treatment have access to nutritious meals, easing one of the many burdens they face during their cancer journey.

“Helping to establish this food pantry in Victor’s memory means so much to me and my family. Victor was such a selfless person and would help in any way he could. In a small way, we hope this helps carry on his legacy.” –Debbie Vidaurre Through their gift, Bonnie and Sean Marcantel will create a soothing environment through art in our Bone Marrow Transplant area, recognizing the healing power of beauty and calm in spaces where patients spend long, difficult days. And thanks to anonymous donors who have made commitments through their estate, our Cancer Institute will receive sustained support for years to come — ensuring that innovation and care continue to evolve for future generations.

Donor support also powers initiatives like community cancer screenings led by residents, bringing early detection to underserved areas. The implementation of an EON subscription at our Assumption campus enhances our ability to track and manage incidental findings, improving outcomes through timely intervention. And during the holidays, Thanksgiving baskets filled with food and hope were delivered to families facing cancer, a gesture made possible by donor-funded outreach.

These stories reflect a shared vision: a future where every patient receives the most advanced care, supported by a community that believes in their journey. Our donors are not just funding programs — they are fueling hope.

THE BIG BASH

From Crisis to Care: The Donor Impact on the Mental Health Journey Mental health continues to be one of the most pressing public health challenges in the United States. Early 2025 reports show that over 57.8 million adults (22.8%) are affected by some form of mental illness, and 14.1 million people (5.5%) suffer from serious mental illness that disrupts daily life. Among youth, the crisis is even more alarming; 40% of high school students report feeling persistently sad or hopeless, and 20% have seriously considered suicide. These numbers reflect a growing epidemic that touches nearly every family and community.

We are taking bold steps to meet this crisis head-on. Through our mental and behavioral health services, we offer comprehensive care for adolescents, adults, and seniors. From inpatient and outpatient therapies to specialized psychiatric clinics and the COPE crisis line, our system is designed to provide individualized treatment and support at every stage of the mental health journey. But it is not enough. Philanthropy is growing the services currently provided and will be a driving force in expanding care in the future.

Thanks to generous contributions from Darlene and Robert Daigrepont, the Tau Center, our dedicated facility for acute mental health care, will expand its staff to include an additional activity therapist, support patient learning through new supplies, and enhance the facility to further promote healing and comfort. These improvements will allow more patients to be seen and offer a more enriching, restorative experience.

Dr. and Mrs. Steven Gremillion have made a generous gift to strengthen mental and behavioral health services across Our Lady of the Lake, including the Tau Center and hospital-based clinics. Their support will fund four psychology externships, helping to reduce the long waitlist for behavioral testing and provide timely diagnoses for conditions such as Autism, ADHD and other developmental challenges.

Longtime supporters Jan and Don Chance have once again demonstrated their deep commitment to our mission with a generous gift that is helping to preserve and expand our mental health programs. Their most recent contribution is not just a donation — it is a powerful investment in the well-being of our community.

Through their ongoing support, Jan and Don are helping to ensure that individuals and families facing mental health challenges have access to the compassionate care and critical resources they need. Their unwavering dedication reflects a shared vision of hope, healing, and a healthier future for all.

Why I Give Amberly and Charles Nunez: Healing Hands, Giving Hearts Louisiana natives Drs. Amberly and Charles Nunez are physicians and empathetic leaders whose faith and generosity have made a lasting impact on our community. Guided by a deep desire to serve the Lord, the Nunezes have inspired generosity among their peers and the wider community.

“We want to make a difference in the kingdom of God,” shares Dr. Amberly Nunez, a pathologist with the Pathology Group of Louisiana who practices within our health system.

Her husband, Charles Nunez, MD, an emergency medicine physician at Our Lady of the Lake, echoes her sentiment: “We have been blessed by God and want to be a blessing to other people.”

While their journey into philanthropy didn’t begin with us, their support of our mission is a meaningful extension of their broader commitment to giving. The Nunezes first connected with our Foundation through the annual Big Bash

event, attending as guests of their respective departments.

Though their demanding careers leave little time for outside involvement, they felt compelled to support causes close to their hearts — even if from behind the scenes.

As Heroes in Healing members and active participants in Team Member Giving, the Nunezes give generously through multiple channels, demonstrating their commitment to both their faith and workplace community. Their giving stems from pure hearts and a desire to inspire both their children and fellow team members to live by the principles outlined in scripture: to give as they’ve been given. Referencing 1 Peter 4:10, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others,” the Nunezes embody this scripture not only through their medical expertise but also through their generous spirits. Their lives are a testament to the power of faith in action, touching hearts and saving lives in equal measures.

Nurses in Action: Building the Future of Care Furthering its commitment to workforce development, Regions Bank — through the Regions Foundation — awarded a generous $50,000 grant to FMOL Health | Our Lady of the Lake Foundation to expand its Workforce Solutions Program.

This funding directly supports the Certified Nursing Assistant/Medical Assistant to Licensed Practical Nurse Scholarship Program, a transformative initiative that empowers current team members to advance their careers in nursing.

From the Pantry to the Playground: Donors Fueling Safer, Healthier Lives At FMOL Health | Our Lady of the Lake, healing goes far beyond hospital walls. It reaches into neighborhoods, classrooms, kitchens, and playgrounds — where children and families are learning, growing, and thriving thanks to the generosity of donors and the power of community.

Geaux Get Healthy: Nourishing Families, One Meal at a Time

Asthma Camp: Breathing Easier, Playing Freely

In 2018, Dr. Tiffany Ardoin launched Geaux Get Healthy to improve food access and health outcomes for Baton Rouge families. What began as a grassroots effort to distribute fresh produce has grown into a transformative program offering cooking classes, nutrition education, and personalized support through the Geaux Get Healthy Clinical Program in partnership with LSU Health.

Every July, kids ages 6–10 with asthma diagnoses attend Asthma Camp — a week of games, crafts, and field trips. In partnership with BREC, the camp helps children manage asthma while enjoying activities like their peers.

Families learn to shop smart, cook healthy meals, and make lasting lifestyle changes. One participant shared, “I used to feel overwhelmed in the grocery store. Now I know what to buy, how to cook it, and my kids are excited to help.”

Thanks to support from AmeriHealth Caritas, Louisiana Healthcare Connections, Humana, and the Foundation, the camp remains accessible and impactful — helping kids breathe easier and live fuller lives.

Thanks to generous grants from Sprouts Farmers Market and Epic Systems, the program now serves hundreds of families across Baton Rouge, connecting them to vital resources for long-term wellness.

Trauma Prevention: Protecting What Matters Most Since 2019, our Trauma Prevention Program has reached over 1,500 children annually, helping families prevent injuries through car and ATV safety, firearm education, and fall prevention.

Building Healthy Habits for Life

Led by Dr. Katie Queen, the FMOL Health | Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health Weight & Nutrition Center combines medical care with culinary medicine — offering cooking classes, nutrition education, and behavioral support to help families build healthy habits on a budget.

With support from the Epicurean Society, the clinic receives funding for kitchen equipment, materials, and scholarships. Local chefs also join in, turning lessons into joyful, empowering experiences.

“We’re not just teaching kids to eat better,” Dr. Queen says. “We’re helping families rediscover the joy of cooking and eating together.”

Now she knows how to use her inhaler and feels confident joining in.”

From Wheels to Wonder: Donors Opening Doors for Every Child The mission of McMains lives on through the FMOL Health | Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health Developmental Center, where donor generosity helps children reach their potential.

This year, Bella, a spirited young girl with mobility challenges, received her first adaptive bike — a moment of freedom, confidence, and joy made possible by community support.

Thanks to donor-funded initiatives, the Center also offers the Capable Arts Program, providing therapeutic art, music, and movement sessions that build emotional resilience.

To create a more inclusive environment, Sensory Bags with calming tools are now available in waiting areas, helping children with sensory sensitivities feel more at ease.

Behind the scenes, 3D printers, donated anonymously, are used to create custom therapy tools and adaptive devices. “This will allow children to participate in everyday opportunities at home and in the community,” says Kimberly Haynes, Physician Practice Manager.

These moments — big and small — are made possible by generous donors opening doors to wonder.

Letting Kids Be Kids Healing goes beyond medicine — it’s about joy, imagination, and normalcy. Thanks to donors and community partners, technology is transforming clinical spaces into places where kids can just be kids.

In our medical office building, floor projectors donated by The Toy Foundation turn waiting rooms into interactive play zones, helping reduce anxiety before appointments.

Inside the hospital, a CCTV studio, funded by enCourage Kids Foundation and Fore! Kids Foundation, broadcasts engaging content to patient rooms — from BINGO and story time to surprise visits from LSU athletes.

And thanks to the Dr. Sheila Moore Fund, children now enjoy virtual reality goggles that transport them to magical worlds, offering comfort and therapeutic escape during difficult treatments.

MINI-POT: A SMALL EVENT WITH A MIGHTY IMPACT One inspiring source of support for pediatric innovations is the Mini-Pot Jambalaya Fest, a family fun cook-off that started almost two decades ago and evolved into a fundraiser that’s been making a big impact. What began as a campground gathering has grown into a cherished annual tradition, bringing together families, friends and local businesses to support inpatients.

Over the years, Mini-Pot has raised more than $575,000 to support programs and services that enhance the care experience for children and their families at our children’s hospital inpatient hematology and oncology unit. Proceeds from the event assist in providing transportation to and from camps, camper gear and educational materials. They also fund special moments like transition celebrations, awareness events, memory keepsakes and more — ensuring families feel supported, uplifted and cared for every step of the way.

Spirit Halloween Through their Spirit of Children initiative, Spirit Halloween helps make the hospital less scary for kids by donating a portion of purchases to our Child Life program. Their support makes the season spooktacular!

Sheriff’s Department Supports Driving the Future Baton Rouge traffic may be legendary, but so is the support of our Sheriff’s Department. Thank you for ensuring our Driving the Future raffle tickets reached their destination safely and swiftly!

Impact Event

Baton Rouge Soccer Association Holiday Gift Drive Every Christmas and Easter, Baton Rouge Soccer Association spreads joy by donating festive gift baskets filled with goodies, thoughtfully assembled by their players, helping to brighten the holidays for our patients.

Benny’s Car Wash Since 2021, Benny’s Haunted Car Wash has raised over $165,000 for our Children’s Hospital, last year alone bringing in a record-breaking $57,000! It’s a frightfully fun way to support life-changing care.

FMOL Health | Our Lady of the Lake donors, including Heroes in Healing members, experienced an immersive evening with our trauma and stroke teams, walking through real-life scenarios that showcase life-saving care. It was a powerful glimpse into the impact of their generosity.

Sugar Plum Shoppe – Family Tradition Jefferey Simpson and his family have made it a heartfelt tradition to shop for gifts at Walmart to stock our Sugar Plum Shoppe. Their generosity helps make the holidays magical for patients and families spending Christmas in the hospital.

Bella Bowman The Bella Bowman Foundation brings yearround comfort and joy to patients at the Children’s Hospital!
