Even the dog’s name is “Porsche” By Kevin Blanchard You can tell a lot about a guy by looking inside his garage. When you look inside Jeff Boehm’s garage, you say to yourself, “He’s a Porsche guy.” If you say the word, “Porsche,” you will be greeted by a very friendly, tail wagging and sniffing chocolate lab. Boehm has been interested in cars, and in particular sports cars, for as long as he can remember. “In the mid 70s, when all of my friends were driving their Cameros and Mustangs, I was driving an MG or a Triumph.” “When I was in high school, I used to buy several VW ‘bugs’ that were not running well,” he said. “Then I would take them apart, make one good one and sell off the remaining parts.” His first Porsche was a 1970 914. “I have had several different Porsche 914s through the years and did some autocross with one years ago,” he said. His “current” Porsche is a 1976

His car has 165,000 miles on it and he says that it has “a super advanced engine.” The 911, made by Porsche AG of Stuttgart, Germany, is notable for having a rear engine and being air-cooled. It has been a favorite of enthusiasts who enjoy racing, rallying and other types of automotive competition. “When you have an old car, you are never done working on it,” Boehm said. When he bought his 911S in 2004, he disassembled it completely and stripped the paint down to the bare metal and then had the

body shop at Adamson Motors do the painting. “I used my son’s old bedroom as a parts warehouse during the process,” he said. “I took pictures of the car at each stage of the disassembly process so I could put it all back together.” Boehm has won First Place awards in 2003, 2008 and 2009 in the Street Class category for his car. He has been a member of the Porsche Club of America (pca.org) since 2000. This club, founded in 1955, has more than 100,000 members in 139 regions throughout the United States and Canada.
