We are at a crossroads as a species and a civilization. Our attempts at ordering, commanding and controlling the things of nature and the nature of things has largely backfired. In our naiveté, ego, selfishness and greed drove our choices over the last four centuries. In our folly, we removed ourselves from defaulting to humility, selflessness and sharing. At every moment in our recent history, when we had to make decisions that affected the entire planet, we made those decisions as if we were the only beings that were relevant to it. With each such disastrous choice, we brought our world and all of its sentient life closer and yet closer to extinction. In our self-serving astigmatism, we rendered ourselves blind to the fact that of those forms of life considered part of the red lists of endangered species, we are right at the top. While the damage to most living things was our doing, we never realized that we are doing our own selves to death. We still do not. Even as we set our world on a dusty road to doom, we still manipulate, connive, and cheat to win our individual selves a few more throws, promoting and propagating the lie through the most diabolic and shameful schemata that a human mind

can dredge from the depths of endarkened hearts that corrupts into fallacy every good that we have ever known, convoluting the most indecent, inconsiderate, inimical activities imaginable into something laudable, something great, something lasting. We have mangled and torn apart the very fabric of human society by leveraging all our channels of communication to promote that which is unconscionable as civilized behaviour. We have threaded the disharmonic aberration of falsehood into the tapestry of our collective lives, mangling that picture to such an extent that the human condition can no longer discern that which is empirically good from that which is fundamentally bad. Enough. Rampaging through the annals of our planet at a million miles an hour to buy things, take things, commandeer things that mean nothing even as they are possessed by maddened ranks of mutually competing humans, the world is desperate to reduce the heat of the greed, the hurt of the speed. People are sickened by information tsunamis and are collectively and contradictorily screaming for the noise to stop. We have no choice but to sit up and take serious notice.



We are a team of young techno-creatives, designers and marketers who are the inheritors of a mess that was created by our fathers and forefathers. We have seen the damage the advertising mantras of the industrial age has wreaked upon the collective reasoning ability of the peoples of this world. We have no great plans for the civilized world because the civilized world has no great plan for itself and we are not foolish enough to believe we are the ones to solve it. Instead, we control what we can and what we can control is our approach to marketing and the uniquely innovative grammar and structures we have created from our own analysis of situations and unpacking of scenarios that will help our clients reimagine their products are services as the world makes the choice at this most momentous of junctures to step into the age of selflessness, care and concern for everything that moves within this planet we call home. We do not do this with aggression or force. Instead, we do it through peace and empathy.

Looking at the pillars we stand on and the drivers that propel us, one might be forgiven for thinking that a team such as ours does not belong in marketing and advertising. Indeed! We would have been an irrelevant joke during the age of industry. That is why we re-examined the models of mainstream marketing and advertising with a brutally unforgiving eye and found them lacking in quality and wanting in integrity. Without quality and integrity, such models have no place in the emerging world of sustainability. Therefore, we changed it.


WE STAND BY PEOPLE WHO STAND BY WHAT THEY ARE SELLING In this age of fake, few who sell things and fewer who market the things others are selling stand by anything at all except perhaps an ill-gained profit. We know that we must strive to be better specimen of humans and therefore we simply cannot subscribe to such abominations. So we work with our clients to not only market a particular good or service but also to help them to improve their offerings to the point where they can truly take quiet pride in their businesses. Our approach, steeped in empathy and underscored by compassion allows everyone including ourselves to stand tall.

Our way is based on ultra-sensitivity to the social wellness of those who live on this planet. Therefore every product and every service we help to promote should ultimately help them achieve that wellness and to do that, we knew we must break from the radial marketing strategies of the past through which things were sold to people who bought not because they wanted something but because they couldn’t escape from it. We knew we must cut away the diseased idea of promoting brands based on the flimsiest of “separations” and position each brand within the aspirations, hopes and dreams of the people, binding them forever into the life-consciousness of

society. We know that such an approach is not easy. You see, for it to work, the products, the services, the portfolios, the offerings must be, among other things tough, strong, durable, reusable and provided by those who actually love the fact that they have the privilege to serve mankind and not create the really bad conditions where mankind serves them. To do that, every action on our part and those of our clients must resonate with the people. Every engagement must geometrically increase the trust of the people. For that, our individual brands must subsume and reposition within the life-cloud of society and for that, for that, the only real brand is in fact, people.


WE ARE NOT FANS OF GREENWASHING BUT WE ARE FANS OF SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION We are all fully aware that from CSR to charity to philanthropy, businesses of the past have done highly questionable things to tick “green boxes”. This is no longer a tenable way of doing business and we strive at all points to help businesses to integrate sustainability into their modelling so that they can truly say “we are guilt-free”.

When we first came together, the Alexandrite consultancy team was starting operations and so were we. In a series of easy, disarming and open chats we realized very quickly that they were the real deal and that they could truly help the world help itself. So we helped them. Just charging costs. They deserved every bit of our creative effort and strategic knowledge. In turn, they helped us to put ourselves on the map. Most times, mutual goodness and humanness synergizes potencies and the outcomes do not need to translate into money for both parties to profit.

James Michel Foundation:

When the 3rd President of the Seychelles wanted to promote the ideas and concepts of the Blue Economy that he had birthed during RIO+20, he wanted to do so through a newsletter. We were tasked with designing, copywriting, article writing and locating scientific material related to it to support the information, speeches and articles upstreamed by the foundation itself. We knew that if anyone could carry it off we could and we jumped into the breech, delivering, not the original 8 page newsletter but a 24 page behemoth that was almost a magazine for

very little additional costs. The whole effort was a resounding success for the foundation and helped promote a truly world critical message to the VVIPs of the world and the very large footprint of the Blue Economy at COP 26 was in part supported by the outreach we were able to achieve through the newsletter. Such was the response to the newsletter that the foundation decided to make it a full-fledged magazine from 2022 onwards. We are quietly proud to have helped the cause for healing the world through our creative efforts.

State Ministry of Rural and Sports Schools Development The ministry was doing yeoman service for our rural athletes and when they approached us at the eleventh hour to provide a high quality report for parliament, we didn’t back down. In just 15 days we created the designs, took the photographs, wrote the copy and published a 220 page tome in all three languages that was extremely well received by the lawmakers of the country. It was certainly touch-and-go but with Team Olive working literally round-the-clock, we delivered – and how! We can reliably state that only a group of youngsters with drive and commitment to the greater cause of Sri Lankan society could have done this under the most trying of circumstances.
