Nuncio graces OLHP’s 57th Fiesta Mass

As one of the many firsts of the Our Lady of Hope Parish, the Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, Most Rev. Charles John Brown DD, led the celebration of the 57th Parish Fiesta and the 152nd

He was welcomed by the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Raymond Joseph Arre together with His Excellency, Bishop Honesto “Nes’’ Ongtioco, Diocese of Cubao Ministry for Liturgical Affairs director Rev Fr. Ronald Mariano Roberto, Parochial Vicar Rev. Fr. Marti Espenido, and Parish Pastoral Council Lay Coordinator Bro. Arnold Divina.

For the Eucharistic Celebration, the Apostolic Nuncio was accompanied by the Bishop and clergy from other dioceses. Local government officials, guests, and Marian devotees were also in attendance. He also mentioned that our patroness, Our Lady of Hope, gives us life through Jesus. “She is our Hope.” He continued, that she is the one who shows us [that] if we trust and live in God’s life, all things will work for our good.

Most. Rev. Brown’s homily focused on the theme of hope and desiring the Kingdom of Heaven. “It’s placing our trust in Christ’s promises, not relying on our own strength, but on the help and the grace of the Holy Spirit,” he said.

To end the celebration, Fr. Arre thanked the Apostolic Nuncio, who was supposedly the presider of last year’s fiesta but was not able to come due to lockdown, for finally being with the OLHP community. He also stated that the fiesta celebration ends but the challenge of the fiesta theme, Sulong OLHP! does not.

“Let us move forward in continuity of our mission: to give hope, to bring hope -- and that is Jesus, only Jesus, and always Jesus through His mother, the Mother of Hope,” he added.
