Taken, Blessed, Broken and Shared: My Pastoral Experience at OLHP

Jesus “took” bread, “blessed” it, “broke” it, and “shared” it with his disciplesWhenever we celebrate the Holy Eucharist, these are the four “actions” involved in the institution narrative. In Theology, these are called the four Eucharistic actions that perpetuate Jesus’ self-giving sacrifice.

Taken. While waiting for the start of my pre-diaconal program, I stayed in my home parish in Sta. Rita, Philam Homes where Fr. Jun Pascual, the parish priest, told me that I would soon be transferred to a mission station near Sta. Maria Della Strada Parish. A few days later I received a text message that I will be assigned at Our Lady of Hope Parish (OLHP). My first reaction: “Hay salamat, sa likod lang ng SM North”. I did not know anyone from OLHP. All I know is that the parish priest is Fr. Raymond Arre and that Fr. Jun was their former parish priest. Later I realized why I was assigned to this parish — staying in OLHP brought me a lot of rich experiences because the Church is “alive” here.
