01. House on the Hill

Education project. Second semister

The project of a suburban residential building of the “Cabin” type on 50 square meters.

The goal of the project was to make a house that is visually integrated into the landscape. For this, the house was divided into three levels, which descend along the slope of the terrain. Attention was also paid to the formation of the silhouette of the house. Due to the different configuration of the sloping roofs of the two blocks of the building, an expressive contour was formed, which merges the building with the terrain and also creates variability in revealing perspectives on the building from different angles.

The material from which the project is made is wood. Adds warmth and tactility to the project. Bringing the project closer to its surroundings.

Description of the layout

The area of the house is limited, so a clear functional program of the project was important. The building is divided into three zones. The first is the entrance, with a wardrobe, a guest bathroom and a corridor that connects the three zones. The second is private, with a bedroom and a bathroom. The third zone is public. Kitchen and living room with fireplace and panoramic glazing overlooking the river and forest.

Taking into account the small area of the house, a kind of enfilade layout was used in the planning. The interior door, the window in the bedroom and the panoramic glazing in the guest room are located along one axis, which creates a through perspective of the house and creates the illusion of greater spaciousness of the house.

In the interior, the main material is warm-toned wood, which creates coziness and a sense of shelter in the forest.

Large panoramic glazing brings the surroundings into the house, demonstrating the unity of the natural environment and architecture.

02. Book pavilion

The pavilion project for book sharing in the park area involves creating a small intimate space for placing and freely exchanging books, with the possibility to linger for a minute in the pavilion for a preliminary acquaintance with the book.

The clarity and openness of the pavilion symbolize the clarity of mind with which a person approaches the acquaintance with literature.

The pavilion, especially at night, resembles a Chinese lantern, wrapped in a light translucent material, which in the darkness of ignorance points the way to knowledge, to books, to enlightenment.

THE BOOK PAVILION AS A CLEAN STRUCTURE

The project essentially consists of a clean wooden structure that blends softly into the surroundings.

03. Villa

Education project. Forth semister

A house for grandparents with their grandson, for people accustomed to hosting many guests at home. Due to the different rhythms of the residents’ lives, the house has been divided into two blocks. The first block - with a semi-basement floor, is the household block where grandparents live and where guest meetings take place. On the second floor of the household block, there are guest bedrooms and the master’s study with balconies. In the semi-basement, there are staff rooms, as well as a home theater, a billiard room, and a sauna with access to a terrace.

The second block - for the grandson, is separated from the main block by a gallery, allowing for ‘loud’ gatherings with friends without disturbing the grandparents.

The house features a complex system of terraces with areas of varying intensity, allowing each resident to lead their lifestyle at their own pace. The house, plots, and terraces are situated at different levels according to the terrain relief, integrating the house into the surroundings. The architecture is executed as a modern adaptation of a traditional house with a pitched roof, reflecting the owner’s preference for traditional aesthetics over contemporary art. Wooden planks of warm tones were used for cladding the house to create a warm home atmosphere.

Riverside Park Education project. Forth semister

Revitalization of the park and waterfront in the central region of Kharkiv, which is actively developing and seeing an increasing number of new office buildings and IT company offices. Despite the region’s active development, it still lacks a cohesive appearance and character. Therefore, it was decided to create a park with a dynamic structure, diverse areas for recreation and work. The park is intended to attract attention and set the tone for the entire future district - decisive, energetic, and modern.

The configuration of the site, located on the bend of the Kharkiv River, influenced the formation of the park’s master plan. Based on the various directions dictated by the site, a grid was constructed, and key points were identified, around which large structures of the master plan were built. Then, these structures were broken down into smaller details and intersected with routes to create diverse zoning and incorporate various features (such as embankments, flower beds, benches, pavilions, etc.) into the cohesive structure of the park.

05. Office

Education project. Forth semister

Office project in the historic environment of Kharkiv on the embankment of the Lopan River. The volumetric spatial structure of the building is dictated by its location on a corner plot overlooking the Lopan River. The building’s volume is shaped to preserve the continuous facade of the historical environment.

Cross cantilevers are formed to accentuate and reveal views of the surroundings. In compositional contrast to the cantilevers terraces are formed, recessed into the building, and serve as places for office workers to relax.

Metal panels are used in the facade cladding, adding a modern and expressive touch to the object.

06. Residential Complex

Education project. Fifth semister

A residential complex project in the city of Kharkiv. The task of the project was to create a diverse space for residents, ensuring a sense of uniqueness in the place they live. To achieve this, the sections and “wings” of the buildings were positioned at different angles, providing both diversity of perception and improved insulation and variability of views from the complex to the surroundings. Additionally, terracing of floors was formed to enhance insulation and reveal scenic viewpoints.

The height of the complex does not exceed six floors to avoid creating an oppressive impression on residents. The project smoothly integrates into the local terrain relief to create a soft natural atmosphere.

The walls are clad in green plaster, blending the buildings with the surrounding environment. White plaster and wooden framing of windows and balconies were also used.
