LOOK, THERE’S NO BAD TIME TO BE IN BEND, BUT THE END OF SUMMER AND BEGINNING OF FALL IS AWFULLY TOUGH TO BEAT.

At the Hayden Homes Amphitheater, some of the most anticipated shows of the year are this September, including Lindsey Stirling, The Lumineers, Jelly Roll, and Counting Crows.

Outside of the Old Mill District, the Bend Roots Revival takes over the Box Factory September 15-17, Oregon Spirts hosts the Oregon Whiskey Festival September 22-23, and the Sisters Folk Festival, one of our favorite festivals in all of Central Oregon, rocks and rolls September 29 through October 1.

Also in October, the BendFilm Festival, Bend Design Conference, and Bend Venture Conference take center stage, showing that Central Oregon’s much more than just beers, bikes, and beers after riding bikes.

Now that being said, autumn is prime bike riding time in the High Desert. Check out our feature on bikepacking on page 52, or swing by REI for tips on the best places to ride mountain bikes this time of year.

More of a water person? Be sure to check out the Witch’s Paddle down the Deschutes River around Halloween. Tumalo Creek Kayak & Canoe also offer year-round kayak, canoe and standup paddleboard rentals, which is an amazing way to appreciate the colors and foliage of Central Oregon as the leaves change.
