Broadband Update The Oklahoma Broadband Governing Board met on Sept. 6 to iron out several details as it works to fully stand up the new Oklahoma Broadband Office.

Grant Applications Guidepost gave an update and reported Oklahoma plans to utilize all its allocated funding from the U.S. Treasury to form a grant plan program. The funding will be available in the coming weeks.

Training The board is looking into partnering with OSU-Okmulgee because it has 12-week training program in fiber laying with an average salary after course completion of $50,000.

Mapping The mapping committee will be delving into Oklahoma's existing map developed over the past few years to determine if there are places it is lacking and fill those gaps with best practices from Virginia and Missouri.

Office and Executive Director Board is still trying to find office space. Retained an executive recruitment firm to search for an executive director. Hired Oklahoma Department of Commerce Director of Performance and Accountability Kirk Martin to fill the role on an interim basis.
