At Junior King’s, we understand that every family’s needs are different. That is why our flexi and occasional boarding options offer the perfect balance of structure, independence and community, without the full-time commitment. Whether it is for a few nights a week or just now and then, our boarding programme is designed to support children and families in a way that works for them.

Flexi-boarding is becoming an increasingly popular choice for families. It offers children the opportunity to:

Flexi Experience
Fully immersed, fully included
At Junior King’s, our flexi-boarders are valued members of the boarding community. From the moment they arrive, they are welcomed into the same routines, friendships and experiences as our full-time boarders.
All of our flexi-boarders:
• are placed in dorms alongside full boarders, sharing the same warm and inclusive environment;
• follow the same routines, rules and induction processes, ensuring they feel settled and confident;
• are celebrated on their birthdays with the same joy and attention as the full-time boarders;
• can opt into weekend activities, from movie nights to outdoor adventures;
• are invited to all major boarding events, including the Boarders’ Christmas Dinner (a highlight of the year!) and the annual trip to the pantomime;
• are warmly welcomed to our start-of-year and end-of-year barbecues, together with their families.
Whether staying for one night per week or several, flexi-boarders at Junior King’s experience the full richness of boarding life: friendship, fun, and a true sense of belonging.

Occasional Stays
Support when you need it most
Occasional boarding at The Junior King’s School offers families a convenient, ad hoc solution for overnight stays - whether due to work commitments, travel, family illness etc. Children can board for just one night or a few weeks, depending on a family’s need.
Although not on a fixed schedule, occasional boarders still benefit from the same warm welcome and structured routines as our regular boarders. Occasional boarding offers a reassuring option for parents and a fun, confidence-building experience for children, providing comfort, continuity and a sense of belonging whenever it is needed.
