International College Projects

Welcome from the College Principals

In the pages ahead you will read about the wide-ranging and innovative projects led by our dedicated staff. From tracking individual student pathways to promoting sustainability, these initiatives highlight the vibrancy and creativity of our programme. Each project is designed around an area of school life that we think is important, enriching students’ experience at our school and providing them with valuable guidance and support for their future.

Promoting a Safe and Supportive Environment

Our Anti-Bullying Lead plays a vital role in promoting a culture of respect and inclusion across the College.

Given our diverse student body - many of whom come from different educational backgrounds - it is essential to clearly communicate our approach to preventing and addressing bullying.

Key initiatives include leading a team of student antibullying ambassadors, organising awareness events and keeping the anti-bullying message visible through assemblies, staff briefings, and ongoing training. The Anti-Bullying Lead also plays an active part in resolving issues and reviewing policy to ensure our practices stay strong, up-to-date, and inclusive.

Ensuring Excellence in Teaching and Learning

Our Quality Assurance intitiative aims to develop a robust system to maintain and enhance the high standards of teaching and learning at the College.

By researching best practices across various sectors and schools, and gathering feedback from staff, we have designed effective policies tailored to our unique environment.

This approach involves ongoing professional development, collaboration with leadership, and the introduction of practical tools to support continuous improvement, ensuring every student benefits from excellent education.

Building Resilience for Life

Our Resilience Advisor Programme supports students aged 13-16 in developing the emotional strength, confidence, and coping skills needed to thrive in and beyond school.

Through a tailored curriculum and interactive workshops, students build emotional intelligence, stress management techniques, and positive social skills.

With a focus on evidence-based strategies, the programme promotes personal growth through group activities, individual support, and enrichment opportunities that enhance both physical and mental well-being. The impact is carefully measured, ensuring students are equipped to face academic and life challenges with confidence and resilience.

Supporting Student Pathways to Future Success

The Destinations Advisor guides students through their transition from the College to A Levels in the UK.

Through tailored workshops on personal statements and interview preparation, students gain confidence and practical skills for school admissions.

The Advisor also fosters resilience during this often challenging process, balancing the needs of students, parents, and agents. Former students and external experts are invited to share valuable insights, while individual support helps students make informed choices. Progress is tracked and reported to ensure every student’s journey is supported and successful.

Tracking Progress to Support Success

The Academic Data Tracker helps monitor and understand students’ progress by analysing effort, achievement, and test results.

This information guides discussions on improving progress and informs personalised support plans.

By exploring links between test scores and final results, the school creates visual achievement graphs to predict student progress. These insights are shared with students, parents and guardians to foster collaboration and targeted support. Ongoing professional development ensures the approach remains effective and up-to-date.

Supporting Every Student’s Academic Journey

The Academic Progress Tracker ensures that all students, especially those with additional needs, receive tailored support to achieve their best.

By collaborating closely with our SENCo, tutors, teachers, and parents, the project monitors progress and implements targeted interventions.

The lead researches best practices, analyses data, and continuously refines strategies to support motivation and achievement. Clear communication and regular feedback help guide students and families, while ongoing professional development and collaboration with other schools ensure the most effective approaches are used.

Preparing for Life Beyond Year 11

Our careers and next steps support equips Year 10 and Year 11 students with the knowledge and confidence they need to make informed decisions about their future.

Whether progressing to A-Level, or exploring career pathways, students receive personalised guidance through one-to-one meetings, careers workshops, and access to up-to-date resources. We help students identify their strengths, research future options, and understand the application processes for further education or training. This comprehensive support ensures each student feels prepared and empowered to take the next step in their academic or professional journey.

Expanding Horizons through Academic Enrichment

The

Academic

Enrichment Project

broadens students’ learning journey by introducing diverse perspectives and knowledge beyond the standard curriculum.

Working closely with King’s academic staff, the project offers guest lectures, practical workshops, and academic trips to deepen understanding and spark intellectual curiosity.

Students also have the chance to participate in competitions like essay writing, encouraging critical thinking and a growth mindset. This enriching experience helps students engage more deeply with their studies while developing skills that prepare them for future academic and personal success.

Celebrating Diversity through Cultural Awareness

Our Cultural Awareness Project celebrates the rich languages and cultures within our College community, ensuring every student feels valued and included.

Through activities like themed assemblies, cultural fairs, film screenings, and special dining experiences, students explore and appreciate the diverse traditions represented at the College.

The project also highlights important cultural festivals and promotes British traditions, working alongside our Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion coordinator to foster respect, understanding, and a truly inclusive school environment.

Fostering a Greener Future

The Sustainability Project drives the College’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals by embedding eco-friendly practices throughout school life.

Through a student-led Eco-Committee, environmental reviews, and action plans, the school actively works to reduce its impact on the planet.

Initiatives include integrating sustainability into the curriculum, organising an annual Environmental Day, and tackling single-use plastics. Regular monitoring of water and energy use, alongside monthly eco-bulletins, keeps the whole community informed and engaged in protecting the environment.
