As we move into 2026, I find myself thinking about what sets this cooperative apart. While every utility uses the same poles, wires, software and infrastructure, OEC’s greatest strength is our people. The culture our employees have built over more than 80 years remains our strongest asset, and it is a privilege to work alongside individuals who take such pride in serving our members well.
I aim to protect, support and ensure our work culture remains the foundation of everything we do. When you have a team that is dedicated, thoughtful and focused on doing the right thing, you do what you can to help them thrive.
Reflecting on 2025, our most visible milestone was completing the new facility at 24th and Main in Norman. Many of you have already seen it, and we hope it reflects our daily commitment to excellence. Our employees deserve a workspace that matches the quality of their contributions. By providing space for collaboration and the necessary tools for success, we help good ideas flourish and benefit the entire cooperative. The new building is more than additional space; it is a commitment to supporting the people who serve you.
Beyond that major project, 2025 was a steady and stable year. OEC Fiber continues to grow with modest expansion. Our service territory continues to grow at a healthy rate that keeps costs manageable and rates stable. Steady, sustainable growth creates opportunities for our communities and for the cooperative.
Looking ahead to 2026, we expect that steady momentum to continue. However, we are beginning to see a gradual increase in power supply costs. Generation expenses are rising across the industry as many long-serving power plants near the end of their operational lives, some after serving for 50 or 60 years. Replacing aging generation and building new resources is necessary, and this process will continue for decades. 4228311505
Growing communities also require more substations, additional lines, and greater capacity. While increased power supply costs are never welcome news, they do reflect a positive trend—our state and our cooperative are growing, and that growth supports the reliability our members count on every day.

Ingredients
1 lb (453g) black-eyed peas
4-5 thick slices bacon, chopped
5 oz smoked sausage or turkey, diced
1 large onion, diced
1 stalk celery, diced
2-3 tsp garlic, minced
1 optional jalapeno, minced
Directions

2 tsp fresh thyme, minced
1 bay leaf
1-2 tsp Creole seasoning
7-8 cups chicken broth
2 cups (or more) collard greens
Salt and pepper to taste
1. Rinse dry black-eyed pea beans, pick through and discard any foreign objects. Add beans to a large pot and cover with 3-4 inches of cold water. Let sit for 2-3 hours (or overnight).
2. In a large, heavy sauté pan, saute chopped bacon until brown and crispy, then add sausage and saute for 2-3 more minutes. Remove bacon and sausage and set aside.
3. Throw in onions, celery, garlic, jalapenos, thyme and bay leaf. Saute for 3-5 minutes until the onions are wilted and aromatic. Then pour in the chicken broth or water.
4. Drain soaked beans, rinse and place in the pot. Season with Creole seasoning and salt to taste. Stir and bring to a boil.
5. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook uncovered for about 20 minutes.
6. Toss the collard greens, bacon and sausage into the pot. Continue cooking for another 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beans are tender and broth thickens to your desired texture.
7. Add more stock or water if the mixture becomes dry and thick. The texture of the beans should be thick and somewhat creamy but not watery.Remove the bay leaf.
8. Taste and adjust seasonings with salt, pepper, and Creole seasoning if needed. Serve over rice and garnish with chopped green onion.
