Bryan Hurst retires after 37 years at OEC
N
ow-retired Manager of Automation Bryan Hurst said farewell in May after a 37-year career. During his time at OEC, Bryan saw a wide range of metering technology and helped ensure OEC stayed on the forefront of implementing it throughout our system. He served in the U.S. Army as a police officer from 1985 to 2010. "Service and leadership are the main themes that come to mind with Bryan and his career," said CEO Patrick Grace. "It started with his great service to our country in the military but that spirit also carried over to service to the members as well. That combination resulted in a great 37 year career here at OEC. I wish him all the best in retirement — he certainly has earned it."
OEC hosts statewide co-op safety training

EC in June played host to 15 different co-ops as a training site for the Rural Electric Safety Achievement Program (RESAP). The program, along with many practices, helps promote a safe workplace and culture. Essentially, it is a safety health check. During the training, 40 safety and loss control professionals inspected OEC's housekeeping, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, truck bins, lighting, etc. The complete facility inspection identifies potential areas of improvement as well as rewards for areas that are above and beyond the standards set by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. [1821311503] Electric co-ops are inspected every three years by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association to ensure maximum measures are being taken to conduct a safe workplace. The RESAP training helped prepare the co-ops in attendance for the annual inspection.
