lue gill and shell cracker are being caught all around the lake. It doesn’t matter whether you are fishing the Kissimmee River or the very shallow water in the lake, the fish are everywhere.

Last week there were fish around spawning beds nearly everywhere we went. There seems to be a lot more blue gill spawning this full moon than shell cracker, although we are seeing a mixture of both in our daily catch. Grass shrimp are the go-to bait for all pan fish, with crickets running a close second and red worms as the better choice if you choose to fish on the bottom.

We found a huge school of blue gill in 18 inches of water early last week. We caught a fish on nearly

every cast for a solid hour until we had as many fish as we wanted for the table. We then we left them for someone else to enjoy.

Bass fishing is still just short of spectacular. It has been taking 30 pounds or better for five bass to win on the lake right now. Artificial baits such as the skinny dipper, big E-Z, Senkos and topwater baits are all producing.

Flipping or pitching creature baits around reed clumps has been a very productive pattern for big bass. The terrific run of fish continues, and it looks like the only thing that can mess it up is a lack of water in the lake. Pray for rain!
