Jake Wilburn’s commercial real estate agent journey is a testament to ambition, perseverance, and seizing opportunities. Reflecting on his career path, Wilburn recalls his internship with CBRE Dallas in 2015, which sparked his passion for the industry. Despite uncertainties in the real estate market, Wilburn took a leap of faith and joined Moriah in early 2023, a decision he has never regretted. Beyond the potential for success, Wilburn values the camaraderie, flexibility, and networking opportunities that come with his role.
Transitioning into commercial real estate was a natural progression for Wilburn, who initially found himself in the building materials manufacturing industry after graduating in 2017. Rising through the ranks to Sales Management, Wilburn honed his skills and expertise before ultimately answering the call to join Moriah. His diverse background underscores the varied paths that can lead to success in commercial real estate, emphasizing the importance of building a robust network early on.

In Wilburn’s view, building influence is one simple principle: show up. By consistently demonstrating dedication, integrity, and a willingness to contribute, young professionals can establish themselves as influential leaders in their respective fields.
How can someone use their influence to help build up their communities and others?
Use your influence for positive change. Be the positive change you want to see.
Congratulations to Sam Marshall and Hunter Nixon Oklahoma City’s Top 10 Most Influential Young Professionals for 2024!
For the fifth consecutive year, Terrance Craft has been on the list of Oklahoma City’s Most Influential Young Professionals. Yet, for the fifth time, he has politely requested not to be included. When asked about this recurring decision, Craft humbly replied, “Because it’s not about me.” He believes that recognition should be directed towards those with different opportunities due to various factors, such as socioeconomic status or racial background. Craft views his position as an opportunity to advocate for others and elevate their voices within the community.
Despite his reluctance to be recognized, Craft consistently receives many votes from his peers. This acknowledgment leaves him feeling both surprised and grateful. “To not be very present at events, stay behind the scenes, and work in the shadows - and my peers still know me, still know what I do, still feel my presence in board rooms, just tells me that the work I’m doing is not going by unnoticed,” he reflects.
Terrance doesn’t shy away from hard work. His work ethic is relentless no matter what is thrown at him. Like a bull with horns, he faces everything head-on. He will do whatever it takes to come out on top. Whatever it takes to come out on top.
I have known Terrance for 7 years and his dedication to young professionals has only grown throughout the years. I’ll never forget when he asked me to join the Board in 2018 and shared with me his vision for the organization. And now, 7 years later, seeing that vision fully realized, is nothing short of extraordinary, said Aaron Phillips, OKCYP’s Marketing Chair. He asked to not be included this year let along be in the Top 10 but it’ll be a disservice to not honor the votes of his peers; but really, he’s simply truly deserving of this recognition.
This year, Craft finds himself ranked second on the list, initially triggering feelings of trepidation. “I was terrified, if I’m honest,” he admits. However, he has come to appreciate the recognition, understanding that it highlights the impact of his efforts. “I was shocked to be ranked #2 and asked to be listed last instead. But I’m grateful that my peers think highly of me and it’s something I’ll never take for granted,” he adds.
When asked to define influence, Craft emphasizes the importance of leadership that transcends mere entitlement. “I’ll define influence as not having a seat at the table, but your presence is still felt,” he explains. “It’s about letting others make decisions with or without your involvement but still using your leadership as a guide.” Craft’s humility and commitment to empowering others testify to his authentic influence within the Oklahoma City community.

Ranked in the Top 5 of Oklahoma City’s Most Influential Young Professionals for 2024!
Congratulations to Representative Cyndi Munson
Ranked in the Top 3 of Oklahoma City’s Most Influential Young Professionals for 2024!
How does it feel to be considered influential?
It is a great honor to be considered one the most influential young professionals! I love people and having a job that gives me the opportunity to build relationships is a dream. In addition to my love for humans, I love serving and showing up in the OKC/ Norman community. This recognition comes with a sense of responsibility to continue contributing to the community in a meaningful way.
How can someone use their influence to help build up their communities and others?
There are so many issues youth, families, and our communities are dealing with. An influential person must create solutions by listening to the needs of the people impacted and creating things people value and find special.
1. What advice do you have for young professionals who are starting in their careers? I think one of the most important things is having patience. You’re not likely to successfully cut corners. Paying your dues is almost always going to be part of the journey. Gather experience and jump at opportunities. You do things right, your time will come soon enough.
2. How can young professionals garner influence?
I think the young professionals that I have listened to and respected through the years are those who exhibit humility. When everyone perceives that you lack experience, it goes a long way if you demonstrate that you acknowledge what you don’t know.
3. We’re seeing a lot of young professionals call Oklahoma City their home; what makes OKC so attractive for young professionals to work and live in?
A few things. Our unique combination of having the quality of life amenities of a big city combined with the ease of living and cost of a living of a smaller place. For young professionals more specifically, I think it’s attractive that OKC gives opportunities to those who may not have deep roots here. Older cities care who your parents were. OKC seems to just care that you’re willing to jump in and work hard.
4. How can young professionals get involved in their local government?
I make over 500 appointments to boards and commissions. If you really want to be involved, serving on those is a great way to get started. But you may have to be willing to start with some of the less glamorous appointments. When I’m making appointments to things like MAPS or other high-profile boards, I’m probably going to be looking at people who have put in the time on other boards first.
5. What exciting things are on the horizon for Oklahoma City that you can share with us?
Since the original passage of MAPS in 1993, we have spent 30 years investing in ourselves. Each decade has brought another step forward. Where we are today is that for the first time, the whole country is really paying attention to our rise. In many cases, they’re starting to invest in it. So I think the changes over the next 30 years will exceed the last. I think I’m just excited to see it all play out. More specifically, I’m looking forward to the opening of 16 MAPS 4 projects over the next decade and our new arena.
6. William Blake, a serial entrepreneur, tops this year’s Most Influential Young Professional List. This is the first time a business owner tops our list – what advice do you have for young business owners? How vital are young business owners to Oklahoma City’s economy?
Many of the most influential people in our city were once young business owners. So just stay on that path and then begin finding ways to engage in civic life as well. Be engaged with a nonprofit, a chamber, or government, or all of the above. Small business owners, big business owners, young business owners, and old business owners—these are the people who fill most of our city’s leadership roles.
7. Any last words or comments you’d like to share?
There was a time not that long ago when it didn’t feel like OKC had young professionals at all. Now, it is a thriving community, making me excited for the future. Keep getting engaged in the civic life of the city. Charting our city’s course will be your responsibility soon enough.
Congratulations to Michelle Crone and Joshua Walters on being ranked in the Top 10 Most Influential Young Professionals of Oklahoma City.
