FITNESS FACILITY AND SERVICES

Access cards to the fitness facility are available for purchase at a cost of $10 from the Office of the Registrar (Student Services Building).

Okanagan College is committed to promoting health and wellness as a lifestyle choice for all eligible students. Our facility offers a wide range of cardio machines and strength training options. Memberships can be purchased online for $10. Cards are activated based on your enrollment and program dates, and will be automatically reactivated for returning students. WEIGHT ROOM ORIENTATION

Learn how to use the fitness facility equipment safely and effectively under the guidance of our staff. Book your orientation online at www.okanagan.bc.ca/kelownastudentlife and a fitness specialist will contact you.

COMMUNITY RECREATION PARTNER

In partnership with Parkinson Recreation Centre, Okanagan College is happy to provide free swimming passes for students at this facility. Please visit the Athletics, Recreation and Student Life office (A104) with your valid student ID to find out how you can access these.

OUTDOOR ADVENTURE PROGRAM

Athletics, Recreation, and Student Life is excited to continue with the Outdoor Adventure Program. This program is intended to introduce students to fun and recreational activities that are found in the Okanagan area. We will be giving away prizes on each excursion with a grand prize giveaway at the end of the semester.

The OC Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams embark on another PACWEST Conference year, so come out and support them! The Okanagan College Coyotes Baseball Team are looking to build off a successful 2022-23 season. With a strong core of returning student athletes and a number of promising new recruits, the team is looking good. Join us September 9 for an easy guided hike along Mission Creek. Enjoy the fall colours and creek sounds. You’re welcome to check out the exhibits in the EECO Centre as well!

MYRA CANYON ROPE CLIMBING ADVENTURE

On the edge of the beautiful and historic Myra-Bellevue Provincial Park sits an aerial tree top ropes course. Myra Canyon Adventure Park offers climbing in ropes and challenge course lines, slack lining, disk golf and mind ventures at one of the most scenic spots in the valley. Guests of all ages are challenged to explore, climb, swing, dangle, balance, hike and solve physical challenges on a variety of climbing elements between trees.

Join us September 23 for a guided hike up our beautiful Knox Mountain and be rewarded at the top with the best view of the city! Note: the hike is moderately challenging and sturdy shoes are recommended. A picnic lunch will be provided.

STRESS BUSTER EVENT

October is here! Join us for a bowl of chili, crafts, snacks, and study tips. We will be hosting the therapy dogs from Kelowna Caring Canines Society. All of these will help you cope with midterm and project stress.

We know the facts! Studies show that interactions with therapy animals can greatly decrease stress in humans. We could all use a little less stress so we’re bringing in the therapy dogs from Kelowna Caring Canines to visit with you. Stop by and pet one of our friendly dogs and grab a snack at the same time.

International Education Week (IEW) is an annual week-long event celebrated during the third week of November by over 85 countries around the world.
