TIARZHA TAYLOR
Tiarzha Taylor was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, where her father, Sterling Taylor and mother, Sonia Madden, became community leaders, fighting for equity and civil rights, inspiring Tiarzha and many others as role models. When she was twelve, Tiarzha’s mother had moved to New York from Puerto Rico. She taught herself English and was the first in her family to attend college. Tiarzha’s father was raised in New York where he and Sonia met. At Dimond High School, Tiarzha was voted Vice President of the Student Council, Varsity Cheerleader, “Most Spirited,” top sprinter, and the school’s first Homecoming Queen of color! After graduating high school, she initially thought of becoming a pediatrician, and later a journalist. She enrolled in UCLA, earning a
