SOLAR IMPULSE El sueño de un futuro sin emisiones contaminantes tiene forma de avión y es eléctrico

P

ersiguiendo los límites de lo posible, adentrándose en lo desconocido y llevando a cabo un proyecto considerado inviable por los expertos de la industria; Bertrand Piccard y André Borschberg demostraron que el mundo puede funcionar con tecnologías limpias. Ambos científicos crearon el programa ‘Future is clean’ y lograron algo que todavía parece imposible a día de hoy: el primer vuelo solar alrededor del mund, impulsado sólo por el astro rey, sin combustible ni emisiones contaminantes.

La idea se concibió en la mente de Piccard el 1999, cuando ya se definió el alma del proyecto: crear un precedente, un icono en el campo de las energías renovables. El objetivo de Solar Impulse II era demostrar que las tecnologías limpias tienen el potencial para infligir un cambio sin precedente en las vidas, sociedades y mercados del futuro. La expedición del Solar Impulse comenzó el 9 de marzo de 2015 en Abu Dabi. Desde la capital emiratí, el aeroplano voló hacia Omán, y luego a India, Birmania, China, Japón y Estados Unidos.

Piccard es médico psiquiatra, explorador y aeronauta. Ha logrado realizar el primer vuelo alrededor del mundo sin escalas y es el padre del Solar Impulse, un proyecto que vincula la ciencia con la aventura para promover tecnologías limpias. Por su parte, Borschberg es ingeniero y emprendedor. Posee una sólida experiencia en la creación y la gestión de empresas, como también la tiene de piloto. Su pasión por la aviación y su interés en buscar soluciones innovadoras lo han llevado a diseñar, construir y organizar las misiones de vuelo de los aviones Solar Impulse II.

El Solar Impulse II se mueve de día y de noche exclusivamente con energía solar, lo que según sus promotores debe servir para concienciar sobre las potencialidades de las energías renovables. Según Borschberg, “Las tecnologías limpias que utiliza el avión para volar podrían también ser utilizadas en la tierra, ya que reducen el 50% del consumo de energía a nivel global… Pero para esto, necesitamos coraje político y espíritu pionero”.

Cada rama del equipo tiene un papel clave. No es ciencia ficción, pero es lo suficientemente excéntrico como para evocar las emociones de la gente implicada en el proyecto y utilizar su adrenalina como motor. Sin duda, esta historia podría haber inspirado a Julio Verne, a quien tal vez le hubiera parecido atractiva la idea de darle la vuelta al planeta en un avión imparable y revolucionario movido por el sol.

No es el primer avión que utiliza la energía solar para volar, pero sí es la primera aeronave capaz de seguir volando fuera del horario diurno utilizando solo la energía almacenada. Además, es la más grande y menos pesada de las que se han construido hasta el momento. Su envergadura consta de alas de 72 metros, lo equivalente a cinco autobuses puestos en fila, y pesa 2’3 toneladas, que se corresponde al peso de dos coches vacíos. Sin embargo, la velocidad media que puede alcanzar es de sólo 75 kilómetros por hora.

Cuando la iniciativa empezó a tener forma en 2003, la industria de la aviación pensó que un vuelo alrededor del mundo alimentado por energía solar no era factible. Sin embargo, el espíritu emprendedor y aventurero de Piccard y Borschberg les hizo buscar el conocimiento necesario en otra parte. Ha sido gracias a un equipo diversificado con una perspectiva proactiva y una amplia red de contactos que Solar Impulse II ha sido capaz de desarrollar tecnologías que dan soluciones válidas a los múltiples desafíos que enfrenta nuestra sociedad.

De hecho, las soluciones energéticas desarrolladas en el proyecto ya se pueden aplicar en redes eléctricas, vehículos, casas e incluso equipos informáticos y electrodomésticos. “Todas las tecnologías desarrolladas con nuestros socios, tales como motores eléctricos con un 97% de eficiencia, lámparas LED para el sistema de iluminación público o privado, la espuma de aislamiento extremadamente eficiente que reduce el consumo, los materiales ligeros y las baterías de alta densidad energética, entre otras, se pueden utilizar en tierra para contribuir a un mundo más limpio y sostenible”, afirma

Piccard. Según el científico, resolver el problema del cambio climático no es caro y supondría la creación de beneficios y empleo. Los estudios realizados por el programa argumentan que el cambio climático, y en particular las emisiones de CO2, está causado fundamentalmente por el uso ineficiente de las fuentes de energía. Si esta práctica obsoleta se reemplazara por alternativas más modernas y punteras, como las usadas en el Solar Impulse II, las emisiones de CO2 a nivel mundial se reducirían a la mitad.

SOLAR IMPULSE: THE DREAM FOR A FUTURE WITHOUT POLLUTANT EMISSIONS IS SHAPED AS A PLANE AND IS ELECTRIC Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg have been chasing the limits of the impossible, gone deep into the unknown, and worked on a project considered unviable by industry experts, in the process they have been able to prove that the world can work using clean technologies.

Both scientists created the program “Future is clean” and accomplished something that still seems impossible today: the first round-the-world solar flight, powered only by the Sun, with no fuel or pollutant emissions.

Piccard is a psychiatrist, explorer, and aeronaut. He was able to accomplish the first round-the-world non stop flight in a hot-air balloon, and he is the father of Solar Impulse a project that combines science with the adventure to promote clean energy technologies. On the other hand, Borschberg is an engineer and entrepreneur.

He has a solid background in the creation and management of companies, as well as experience as a pilot. His passion for aviation and his interest in finding innovating solutions have led him to design, built, and organize Solar Impulse II flight missions.

Piccard conceived the idea in 1999 when he defined the soul of the project: to create a precedent, an icon in the field of renewable energies. The objective of Solar Impulse II was to prove that clean technologies could cause an unprecedented impact in the lives, societies, and markets of the future. The Solar Impulse expedition started on March 9, 2015 in Abu Dhabi. From the Emirate Capital the aircraft flew to Oman, then to India, Burma, China, Japan, and The United States.

At the beginning of this initiative in 2003, the aviation industry did not believe that a worldwide flight powered by solar energy could be possible. Nevertheless, the adventurous and entrepreneur spirit of Piccard and Borschberg found the necessary talent elsewhere.

Thanks to a diverse team with a proactive perspective and a wide network of contacts Solar Impulse II has been able to develop technologies that give viable solutions to the multiple challenges faced by our society.

The Solar Impulse II travels by day and night exclusively on solar energy, which according to its developers should serve as awareness for the potential of renewable energies. According to Borschberg, “the clean technologies used by this airplane could also be used on earth, and this would reduce the use of global energy by 50%...but in order to do it, we need political courage and pioneering spirit”.

As a matter of fact, the energy solutions develop in this project can already be used on power grids, vehicles, housing, appliances, and even electronic equipment. “All the technologies developed by our partners, such as 97% efficient electric powered engines, LED lamps for public or private lighting, the insulation foam which is extremely effective on reducing energy use, the light materials, and the high density energy batteries, among others, can be used on earth to contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable world”, assures Piccard. Los mexicanos la llaman la Playa Escondida. La Playa del Amor se abre dentro de una grieta prácticamente invisible a ojos inexpertos. En el interior del óculo sólo pueden coincidir seis personas, en uno de los paquetes turísticos más cotizados que venden algunas agencias acreditadas.

¿Qué podemos decir del lugar en el que vivimos? Puede que creáis que no somos demasiado objetivos, pero sí que podemos confirmar que algunas de las calas y playas de Costa Brava, aún sin estar rodeadas de palmeras, son de las más bellas del mundo.

PLAYA DE LAS CATEDRALES, RIBADEOS (ESPAÑA) La playa más mediática de España. Ubicada en la costa gallega, un lugar de paseo inolvidable con las mareas bajas, con la roca tallada por las olas que te puede transportar a una catedral gótica.

ANSE SOURCE D’ARGENT, LA DIGUE (SEYCHELLES) Es la playa más fotografiada del planeta. Además de por la arena blanca y su agua cristalina, la orilla de las Islas Seychelles es recordado por los bloques de piedra que se elevan cada pocos metros.

ISLAS GILI. INDONESIA Aunque se han vuelto muy turísticas, las islas Gili aún conservan ese ambiente especial que hace de ellas uno de los lugares más paradisíacos del mundo. Tienes tres opciones, y es que las islas Gili están compuestas por tres pequeñas perlas: Gili Trawangan, la más turística de todas, Gili Meno, algo más tranquila que la primera y Gili Air, la más tranquila de las tres y también la menos visitada.

PLAYA DE BOWMAN, ISLA SANIBEL (FLORIDA, ESTADOS UNIDOS) A pocos kilómetros de Fort Myers se encuentra la Playa de Bowman. Si uno busca la tradicional playa caribeña este no es su lugar. El espacio requiere dejar la toalla en casa y armarse con un buen cubo para cazar los caracoles y coquinas que abundan sobre la arena.

PLAYA DE CORRALEJO. FUERTEVENTURA Largos arenales colorean de tonos dorados el litoral norte de Fuerteventura, una de las zonas más seductoras y con mayor valor ecológico de las Canarias.

Frecuentadas por windsurfistas, las playas de Corralejo tienen su mayor tesoro en el Parque Natural de las Dunas de Corralejo y en la Reserva Natural de la Isla de Lobos, cuyos fondos son muy apreciados por los submarinistas. En el otro extremo de Fuerteventura, la playa de Costa Calma se alarga casi dos kilómetros por una franja que, con marea baja, puede recorrerse de punta a punta.

CALA DI VOLPE. CERDEÑA (ITALIA) La denominada Costa Esmeralda, en el norte de la isla italiana de Cerdeña, alberga algunas de las playas más bonitas del Mediterráneo occidental. En el golfo de Arzachena, la Cala di Volpe se lleva los mayores elogios.

Se trata de una playa de piedra rojiza y arena rubia, orientada hacia el Parque Nacional del Archipiélago de La Maddalena, un paraíso ecológico por la pureza de sus aguas y su abundante fauna acuática. En las cercanías se halla el conjunto megalítico de la Tumba de los Gigantes, con más de mil años de antigüedad.

SECRET LAGOON. PALAWAN. FILIPINAS Sabemos que en Filipinas no es tarea fácil decidirse únicamente por una playa y es que se pueden nombrar varias y no nos pondríamos de acuerdo en cuál de ellas es más paradisíaca. Pero si tenemos que decantarnos por una, Secret Lagoon, una de sus calas vírgenes y con unas aguas de color turquesa cristalinas, sería probablemente nuestra elección.

PLAYA STINIVA. CROACIA

MATEMWE BEACH. ZANZÍBAR (TANZANIA)

Escondida entre formaciones de roca calcárea que la vuelven casi invisible desde el mar, esta playa de piedras blancas se cuenta entre las más atractivas de la Costa Dálmata croata. Se localiza en la isla de Vis, unida por dos horas de barco con Split, la ciudad que creció sobre el palacio del emperador romano Diocleciano. Monumento Natural protegido desde 1967, la cala de Stiniva solo es accesible en barca a través de un estrecho paso, o bien a pie por un empinado sendero que desciende hasta su laguna de aguas claras.

Una larga línea de palmeras sombreando la arena blanca es la imagen característica de Matemwe Beach, en el nordeste de Zanzíbar. La proximidad de la costa africana ha convertido la isla –y esta playa en concreto– en el destino de quienes buscan relajarse tras un safari por los parques de Tanzania o después de subir al monte Kilimanjaro (5.895 m), el techo del continente. Matemwe es un excelente enclave para bucear entre corales y navegar a bordo de un dhow, la embarcación de vela típica de la costa suajili.

PAPAKOLEA BEACH (HAWAII) El olivino es el responsable de que al abandonar esta playa caribeña los pies estén totalmente teñidos de color verde. Llegar hasta el arenal requiere de una caminata de más de 3 kilómetros, pero poder ver estos pequeños cristales merece la pena.

CAYO LARGO, CUBA

KE’E BEACH, HAWAI

El corsario Francis Drake y también Cristóbal Colón desembarcaron en Cayo Largo antes de cruzar el Atlántico. Cinco siglos después, aquel islote situado a 177 kilómetros de la costa sudoeste de Cuba es un destino único para disfrutar del sol y las aguas del Caribe. Las playas Sirena, Lindamar y Paraíso, con palmeras enanas inclinadas sobre la arena blanca, preservan la imagen de edén que hallaron los antiguos navegantes. Cayo Largo está conectada por barco con Varadero y por avión con La Habana, la capital cubana.

Kauai, la isla geológicamente más antigua y más al norte del archipiélago hawaiano, posee una costa muy diversa con acantilados que se desploman en el océano y playas protegidas por el arrecife de coral. Ke’e Beach, en el norte, reúne poderosos atractivos: una laguna sin oleaje y fondos rocosos con multitud de peces y tortugas marinas.

Aquí comienza el Kalalau Trail, un sendero de 18 kilómetros que bordea la agreste costa de Na Pali y alcanza el valle de Kalalau, un rincón tropical con cascadas y accesible únicamente a pie o por mar.

BOWMAN BEACH, SANIBEL ISLAND (FLORIDA, UNITED STATES) A few miles from Fort Myers is Bowman Beach. If you are looking for the traditional Caribbean beach this is not your place. The space requires leaving the towel at home and armed with a good bucket to hunt snails and coquinas that abound on the sand.

BEACH OF CORRALEJO. FUERTEVENTURA Long sandy beaches color the golden shades of the north coast of Fuerteventura, one of the most seductive and ecologically most attractive areas of the Canary Islands.

Frequented by windsurfers, the beaches of Corralejo have their greatest treasure in the Natural Park of the Dunes of Corralejo and in the Nature Reserve of the Island of Lobos, whose funds are highly appreciated by the divers.

At the other end of Fuerteventura, the Costa Calma beach stretches almost two kilometers along a strip which, at low tide, can be traversed from end to end.

Hidden among calcareous rock formations that make it almost invisible from the sea, this beach of white stones is among the most attractive on the Croatian Dalmatian Coast. It is located on the island of Vis, united by two hours of boat with Split, the city that grew on the palace of the Roman emperor Diocletian. Natural monument protected since 1967, the cove of Stiniva is only accessible by boat through a narrow passage, or on foot by a steep path that descends to its lagoon of clear waters.

ecconi’s es la conocida cadena de restaurantes italianos del prestigioso grupo Soho House, que podemos encontrar en algunas de las ciudades más importantes y prestigiosas del mundo, como Barcelona, Estambul o Londres, entre otras. Su cocina, clásica y tradicional pero de alta calidad, es una de los pilares de su gran éxito; así como su decoración de aire veneciano con un toque modernista.

El grupo quiso volver a los orígenes de Cecconi’s, con lo que decidió cerrarlo durante dos meses para rediseñar el local y dar a luz al que sería el nuevo primer local: Cecconi’s Mayfair. El trabajo fue a cargo de Ilse Crawford y tuvo como objetivo devolver los aires venecianos al restaurante. El éxito de este cambio hizo que el Crawford también se encargara del diseño de los restaurantes de Nueva York o Babington House.

Esta cadena de restaurantes tiene su origen en Londres en el año 1978, cuando alcanzó un gran éxito al ofrecer una carta bien definida con platos clásicos de la cocina italiana. Se trataba de un lugar de encuentro para varias personalidades de la época e incluso de la realeza. Sin embargo, en 1999 cerraría sus puertas al dejar Enzo Cecconi el cargo, hasta que cinco años después el grupo Soho House lo refundó.

Cecconi’s se caracteriza por sus decoraciones de aires clásicos con base veneciana que parecen transportarte directamente al país transalpino. Los chefs que conforman la plantilla son especialistas en la elaboración de pizzas, pastas, mariscos o postres, lo que asegura siempre platos de primera calidad y siempre con los mejores productos del mercado.

La extensa carta de la que hace gala Cecconi’s basa sus platos en recetas típicas y clásicas del norte de Italia, además de estar bien definida y ejecutada. Aderezando a éstos ricos platos también podemos encontrarnos una elaborada carta de vinos del país transalpino. También existe la opción de comenzar la velada, o acabarla, escogiendo un cóctel o un ágape, ofrecidos en otra extensa carta.

BARCELONA, LA CIUDAD QUE FALTABA Esta cadena de restaurantes cuenta con locales en varias de las ciudades más importantes del mundo, siempre con un factor diferencial pero con su sello personal. Barcelona ha sido una de las últimas ciudades en albergar un Cecconi’s, que se ha convertido en medio año en el restaurante italiano de moda gracias a su carta y a su decoración.

Se trata de un local situado en el Paseo de Colom, 20, en el Gòtic, decorado con un estilo clásico y obra vista, con

una cocina abierta que recuerda a un local art-decó y que permite ver a los comensales cómo trabajan los cocineros mientras preparan sus ricos platos. Otro punto a favor con el que cuenta el local de Barcelona es su amplitud horaria, ya que están disponibles de 12.00h a 1.00h ininterrumpidamente y con ganchos como el aperitivo italiano y el ‘brunch’ dominical.

ESTADOS UNIDOS, UN TERRITORIO CONQUISTADO POR CECCONI’S El pasado 13 de junio, Cecconi’s inauguró su nuevo restaurante situado en Brooklyn, gracias a que se trata de un lugar con asientos al aire libre y grandes vistas. Es un restaurante espacioso y elegante con un comedor principal de paredes de ladrillo y un bar pavimentado de azulejos de blanco y negro con un generoso mostrador central. Una gran terraza bordea el paseo marítimo, lo que ofrece una magnífica vista de Manhattan para vivir una velada inolvidable.

Continuando dentro de Estados Unidos, Cecconi’s cuenta con un restaurante en toda una zona de lujo: West Hollywood. Desde que se inauguró en 2009, se ha convertido en uno de los restaurantes más importantes de Los Ángeles, gracias a su extensa carta que ofrece posibilidades durante todo el día. Su decoración sigue la línea clásica con lámparas art-decó y mesas con manteles de felpa recordando a 1930, mientras que la cálida terraza marca la influencia italiana.

Tras Brooklyn y Los Ángeles, tenemos que pasar a Miami, donde nos encontramos otro lujoso Cecconi’s. Abierto en 2011 y dentro del recinto de Soho Beach House, la idea de este restaurante es aprovechar el fabuloso clima del lugar. Cecconi’s ha creado un pequeño oasis para ofrecer una belleza rústica lejos de la escena típica de Miami Beach. Nos encontramos con una bonita decoración basada en pérgolas envueltas en bellas esculturas florales, preciosas copas de árboles creando sombras y brisas irresistibles, así como hermosas mesas de

De Reino Unido pasamos a Alemania, donde la capital germana esconde otro Cecconi’s. El restaurante está situado en la planta baja del edificio de Soho House y es un lugar excelente para celebrar reuniones de negocios o bien celebrar fechas señaladas. Al entrar en el comedor ya se puede observar la clase y la elegancia típica de estos locales, pero con cierta informalidad que le da un toque diferencial. Cuero rojo, madera oscura o latón brillante son los protagonistas principales en la decoración del salón, así como el mármol blanco y negro que inunda el suelo. La cocina es de obra abierta, donde los comensales pueden ver trabajar a los cocineros mientras elaboran los platos.

La primera impresión al entrar al restaurante es que te envuelve con su atmósfera y glamour art-decó. El local mezcla el mármol y suelos brillantes, con bancos de Chesterfield, altos taburetes de bar y una sinergia de colores con rojos apagados, verdes, marrones y rosas.

La carta mezcla la exquisitez de algunos platos como los espagueti con langosta; con otros más sencillos como diversos tipos de pizza. Después de esta carta, tenemos la opción de escoger alguno de los fabulosos y exclusivos postres que ofrece este restaurante, que se ha convertido en uno de los más importantes de la ciudad.

ESTAMBUL, LA BANDERA ASIÁTICA DE CECCONI’S Por último tenemos el Cecconi’s de Estambul. Pese a la variedad de restaurantes que puedes encontrar en la ciudad otomana, pocos locales pueden ofrecer las comodidades de Cecconi’s. Como parte del complejo Soho House, nos encontramos con un lujoso jardín con un exuberante jardín para disfrutar del aire libre, situado en el patio del Palacio Genovés del Corpi. CECCONI: THE MOST COVETED ITALIAN CUISINE SOHO HOUSE GROUP MANAGES THE FAMOUS ITALIAN RESTAURANT CHAIN Cecconi is the famous Italian restaurant chain of the prestigious Soho House group, which we can find in some of the most important and prestigious cities in the world, such as Barcelona, Istanbul or London, among others. Its cuisine, classic and traditional but of high quality, is one of the pillars of its great success; As well as its Venetian air decoration with a modernist touch.

This restaurant chain has its origins in London in the year 1978, when it reached a great success by offering a well-defined menu with classic dishes of Italian cuisine. It was a meeting place for several celebrities of the time and even of royalty. BY CECCONI Last June the 13th, Cecconi inaugurated its new restaurant located in Brooklyn thanks to the place with outdoor seating and great views. It is a spacious and elegant restaurant with a main brick-walled dining room and a bar paved with black and white tiles with a generous central counter. A large terrace overlooks the seafront, offering a magnificent view of Manhattan to live an unforgettable evening.

Continuing within the United States, Cecconi has a restaurant in a luxury area: West Hollywood. Since it opened in 2009, it has become one of the most important restaurants in Los Angeles, thanks to its extensive menu that offers possibilities throughout the day. Its decor follows the classic line with art-deco lamps and tables with plush tablecloths reminiscent of 1930, while the warm terrace marks the Italian influence.

After Brooklyn and Los Angeles, we have to move to Miami, where we find another luxurious Cecconi. Opened

Leaving the American continent, we go to the United Kingdom, where this franchise began. Apart from Cecconi Mayfair, we find another inside the luxurious hotel the Ned, located in the former headquarters of the Midland Bank building. With a menu a little bit more accessible to all the public, it is one of the best places to eat in a city as cosmopolitan as London. The first impression when entering the restaurant is that it envelops you with its atmosphere and glamour art-deco.

The local mixes marble and bright soils, with Chesterfield benches, high bar stools and a synergy of colors with red-off, green, brown and pink.

From the United Kingdom we pass to Germany, where the German capital hides another Cecconi. The restaurant is located on the ground floor of the Soho House building and is an excellent place to hold business meetings or to celebrate indicated dates. When you enter the dining room you can see the class and elegance typical of these premises, but with some informality that gives it a differential touch. Red leather, dark wood or shiny brass are the main protagonists in the decoration of the salon, as well as the black and white marble that floods the floor. The kitchen is open work, where diners can see the cooks working while creating the dishes.

as spaghetti with lobster, with more simple ones like different types of pizza. After this menu, we have the option to choose one of the fabulous and exclusive desserts offered by this restaurant, which has become one of the most important in the city.

ISTANBUL, THE ASIAN FLAG OF CECCONI Last but not least we have the Cecconi of Istanbul.

Despite the variety of restaurants you can find in the ottoman city, few permises can offer the comforts of Cecconi. As part of the Soho House complex, we find a luxurious garden with a lush garden to enjoy the outdoors, located in the courtyard of the Genovese Palace of the Corpi. La escultura ‘support’ de Lorenzo Quinn sujeta el hotel Ca’Sagredo con motivo de la Bienal de Venecia

Dos enormes manos emergen del Gran Canal de Venecia y, ante la mirada atónita de los transeúntes, sujetan con sus dedos colosales la fachada del famoso palacio hotel Ca’Sagredo. Impiden, simbólicamente, que el edificio sea engullido por las aguas del canal. Un concepto que se ajusta a la realidad: los tesoros arquitectónicos de la ciudad italiana están abocados a perderse para siempre si los efectos del cambio climático no disminuyen. Se llama ‘Support’, ‘Soporte’; ha sido inaugurada con motivo de la Bienal de Venecia y es la primera escultura instalada en este lugar tan especial. Se expondrá hasta el 25 de septiembre de 2017.

El padre de esta espectacular obra es el artista italiano Lorenzo Quinn, hijo del célebre actor mexicano Anthony Quinn. Y es que a pie o en góndola es imposible no fijarse en estas dos manos, a las que el escultor figurativo de vanguardia dio forma inspirándose en las de su hijo de once años. Así pues, la fragilidad y la fortaleza que representan las manos humanas exponen la necesidad de lograr un compromiso intergeneracional ante las catástrofes naturales que acechan al mundo.

Oi Magazine: Detrás de estas dantescas manos se intuye la incertidumbre de un padre preocupado, ¿es así?

Lorenzo Quinn: Sí, por supuesto. A los padres nos angustia pensar en qué futuro les estamos dejando a nuestros hijos. Decidí tomar como molde las manos de Anthony (su hijo de once años) porque son las manos de un niño, y los niños son el futuro.

Siempre he pensado que el mundo no es nuestro, es un préstamo que nos han hecho nuestros hijos.

OI: ¿Qué significado toman las manos en ‘Support’?

LQ: La escultura pretende sensibilizar a la sociedad sobre los efectos destructivos del cambio climático. Son manos de apoyo a la ciudad de Venecia, pero subjetivamente dirigido a la sociedad Venecia es una ciudad de arte flotante que ha inspirado culturas por siglos, pero ahora necesita el apoyo de nuestra generación y el de las futuras. Es necesario tomar consciencia de lo que está sucediendo, ver la magnitud de lo que pasa a causa del cambio climático, porque el tiempo se acaba. Los tesoros, el arte en Venecia peligran por el aumento del nivel del

“Una obra debe ser más que estética” agua, pero también existen países enteros que pueden desaparecer en muy pocos años. No es algo nuevo, pero ahora notamos su brusquedad.

OI: Desde su punto de vista, ¿qué papel juega el arte en un tema como el calentamiento global?

LQ: Un artista no debe hablar solo de belleza, tiene que tomar su rol para concienciar, asumir un papel social, cultural… Una obra debe ser más que estética.

Lo importante es conseguir que se hable del tema, que se genere un debate. El mayor potencial de una obra de arte reside en el efecto que causa en el espectador.

Lo que yo buscaba en ‘Support’ era precisamente esto, que gente como vosotros vinieseis a preguntar, a informar sobre estos problemas. El arte puede dar otro punto de vista a un problema, involucrar a la gente. Una

OI: ¿Cuál fue el proceso creativo en ‘Support’?

LQ: La idea era hacer un llamamiento a la humanidad, al deseo de salvarnos. Me imaginé unas manos que se están ahogando y están salvando simultáneamente. El palacio Ca’Sagredo es un monumento nacional que fecha del siglo XV y alberga numerosas obras de arte. Las manos apoyadas en su fachada son una manifestación del arte en apoyo al arte.

OI: ¿Cómo le hicieron llegar la propuesta?

LQ: ¡No me lo propusieron!, fue idea mía. Estaba celebrando mi 50 aniversario en el Ca’Sagredo y comenté con la directora la idea de hacer emerger unas manos que sujetaran el edificio. Sonaba a utopía, puesto que nunca antes se había creado una obra que saliera de

las aguas del canal. Hicimos la propuesta a la organización de la Bienal, y en primera instancia nos la rechazaron. Sin embargo, esa idea ya había calado profundamente en mi y estaba decidido a llevarla a cabo, así que me reuní con el alcalde de Venecia y empezaron a valorarlo. Mientras esperábamos una respuesta nos pusimos manos a la obra, y pocos días antes de la inauguración de la Bienal nos dieron la aprobación.

Habíamos cubierto todos los gastos desde el principio, de no haberlo logrado hubiese sido un desastre.

OI: Pero lo lograron.

LQ: Sí, después de todo pudimos instalar las manos en la fachada del hotel. Tuvimos que hacer un gran trabajo previo, más allá del aspecto creativo. Era necesario hacer un estudio de ingeniería, tener en cuenta las condiciones del subsuelo, escanear el edificio para asegurar que su estructura aguantaría el peso de la escultura…

OI: Debió ser emocionante ver cómo instalaron la escultura…

LQ: Fue un momento precioso. Las transportamos por el canal hasta la fachada del Ca’Sagredo y la gente se admiraba cuando las veía. Me di cuenta de lo especial que era esta pieza por la expresión de la cara de los transeúntes. Reportamos el proceso de instalación en las redes sociales y éstas se incendiaron. Jamás había visto tanta repercusión por un trabajo mío. Anthony, mi hijo cuyas manos han servido de molde para crear Support, cortó la cinta en la inauguración. Fue realmente emocionante.

LORENZO QUINN “I HAVE ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT THE WORLD IS NOT OURS, IT IS A LOAN FROM OUR CHILDREN” THE ‘SUPPORT’ SCULPTURE BY LORENZO QUINN IS HOLDING THE CA’SAGREDO HOTEL FACADE FOR THE VENICE BIENNALE Right in front of the watchful eye of passers-by, two large hands emerge from the Grand Canal of Venice. Its colossal fingers hold the facade of the famous Ca’Sagredo Palace. The hands symbolically prevent the building from being swallowed by the canal’s waters. A concept that adapts to reality: the Italian City’s architectonic treasures will disappear forever if climate change effects do not decrease.

The sculpture is called “Support” and was inaugurated for the Venice Biennale. It is the first sculpture installed in this special area and will be showing until September 25, 2017.

The creator of this spectacular work is the Italian artist Lorenzo Quinn, son of the renowned Mexican actor Anthony Quinn. It is impossible not to see this piece by foot or in a gondola, the figurative sculptor was inspired by the shape of the hands of his eleven year old son. Thus, the fragility and strength that these human hands represent expose the need to accomplish and intergenerational commitment on the natural disasters happening in the world.

Oi Magazine: Behind these Dantesque hands you can sense the uncertainty of a worried parent. Isn’t so?

Lorenzo Quinn: Yes, of course. Parents are worried about the future and what we are leaving behind for our children. I decided to use Anthony’s hands (his eleven year old son) because they are the hands of a child, and the children are the future. I have always thought that the world is not ours, it is a loan from our sons.

OI: What is the meaning of the hands in ‘Support’?

LQ: The sculpture wants to raise awareness in society about the destructive effects of climate change. They are supporting the city and the society of Venice, a place of floating art that has inspired cultures for centuries, but now needs the support of our and future generations. It is necessary to acknowledge what is happening, to understand the scope of what climate change is causing because time is running out. The treasures and the art of Venice are in danger due to the rising sea levels, but there are also entire countries that may disappear in a few years. It is not something new but now we are noticing its abruptness.

“An art piece has to be more than aesthetic” OI: From your point of view what is the role of art in climate change?

LQ: An artist should not only speak about beauty, he/she has to be aware of his/her role to create social and cultural awareness. An art piece has to be more than aesthetic. It is very important to make people talk about this topic and create a debate about it. The biggest power of an art piece is its effect on the spectator. This is exactly what I was trying to achieve with ‘Support’; I wanted people to ask questions about this issue and inform themselves. Art can give a different point of view of a problem and get people involved. An image is worth a thousand words.

“The hands supporting the facade are a manifestation of art in support to art” OI: What was the creative process of ‘Support’?

LQ: The idea was to make an appeal to humanity to save us. I imagine a pair of hands that were drowning and

getting rescued at the same time. The Ca’Sagredo is a national monument from XV century and holds several works of arts. The hands supporting the facade are a manifestation of art in support to art.

OI: When did you get the proposal to do this piece?

LQ: No, nobody proposed this to me!, it was my idea.

I was celebrating my 50 year anniversary at Ca’Sagredo and I told the director about my idea to make a pair of emerging hands supporting the facade of the building. It sounded like a utopian idea because never before an art piece had been made emerging from the canal’s waters.

We made a proposal to the Biennale organization and at first they rejected it. However, I was very keen about this idea and I was decided to make it a reality, so I meet with the mayor of Venice and they started to consider it. While we were waiting for an answer, we started to work on the piece and a few days before of the inauguration of the Biennale they approved the project. We covered all the expenses from the beginning, if the project had not been approved it would have been a disaster.

“I realized that the most special part of this art piece was the expression in the face of passers-by”

OI: But you were able to make it happen.

LQ: Yes, after all we were able to install the hands at the facade of the hotel. We had to do a lot work during the preliminary phase beyond the creative side of it. It was necessary to do an engineering study, take into account subsoil conditions, scan the building to insure that its structure would be able to support the weight of the sculpture OI: It must have been very exciting when the sculpture was finally installed LQ: It was a wonderful moment. En el primer semestre de 2017, los principales fondos de inversión captaron 155.000 millones gracias a la mejora de la economía y los mercados

se situó en 419.070 millones, un 0,1% más que el mes anterior, de acuerdo con los datos de Inverco.

El volumen de activos de los fondos de inversión mobiliarios se situó en 251.421 millones de euros a finales de junio, lo que supone un incremento del 0,3% respecto al mes anterior. En la primera mitad del año, los fondos de inversión experimentaron un crecimiento superior a los 16.000 millones de euros, frente a la disminución de 1.727 millones de euros del mismo período del año anterior.

El patrimonio de la inversión colectiva (fondos y sociedades de inversión) acumula un crecimiento del 6,3% en el primer semestre del año respecto al cierre de 2016, al situarse en los 419.070 millones de euros. En estos seis primeros meses de 2017, las suscripciones netas en fondos de inversión aportaron más del 75% al aumento patrimonial, mientras que la otra cuarta parte tiene su origen en la revalorización de la cartera por efecto mercado. Como en meses anteriores, los fondos globales protagonizaron el interés inversor del partícipe nacional, al alcanzar el mayor incremento patrimonial del mes, unos 1.300 millones de euros más que en mayo. En los seis primeros meses del año, los fondos globales registraron un crecimiento superior al 39% y casi 8.120 millones de incremento en 2017.

Los fondos mixtos mantuvieron la tendencia de meses anteriores y experimentaron un nuevo incremento en su volumen de activos en torno a 330 millones de euros, por lo que acumulan casi 5.079 millones de euros de nuevos activos en lo que va de año. Por decimosexto mes consecutivo, los fondos de inversión registraron suscripciones netas positivas, hasta 2.195 millones de euros en junio.

En la primera mitad de 2017, los fondos de inversión domésticos han experimentado casi 12.335 millones de euros de entradas netas, 10.400 millones más que en el mismo período del año anterior. El número de cuentas de partícipes en fondos de inversión nacionales aumentó durante el mes de junio hasta situarse en 9,59 millones de partícipes.

En cuanto a la rentabilidad media, los fondos de inversión cerraron junio en el 4,7%. No obstante, este rendimiento no ha sido homogéneo en todas las categorías.

LAS LETRAS DEL TESORO, EN NEGATIVO: HAY QUE PAGAR PARA INVERTIR A 3 AÑOS En las subastas de este año 2017, el Estado se sigue financiando a tipos negativos, es decir, que los inversores pagan por invertir. REPUNTE EN LA VENTA DE FONDOS GARANTIZADOS EN 2016/2017

El proceso natural no es el paso de los depósitos a invertir en acciones directamente, sino en pasar de forma paulatina el ahorro hacia fondos de inversión.

Los fondos garantizados están siendo una de las bazas que ofrece la banca comercial para aumentar su rentabilidad, muy mermada por los bajos tipos de interés.

Para evitar, el riesgo que supone depender de los mercados, una estrategia que podemos hacer para rentabilizar de forma progresiva nuestros ahorros es ir pasando mensualmente una determinada cantidad a fondos de inversión, de forma independiente a lo que hagan los mercados.

La banca comercial está apostando por los fondos garantizados y así todos los grandes bancos están lanzando fondos garantizados, que a un plazo de 5 a 7 años ofrecen rentabilidades entre el 0,7 y el 1,25% anual.

Además la CNMV, el organismo supervisor de los fondos de inversión lanzó en marzo de 2017 una advertencia sobre la mala información que están dando las oficinas bancarias sobre los fondos garantizados y los de rentabilidad objetivo, dado que muchos se están renovando automáticamente con plazos más largos y una posible rentabilidad mucha más baja.

EL REINADO DE LAS SOCIMIS Durante años, el mapa inmobiliario español estuvo dominado por los llamados reyes del ladrillo Astroc (Enrique Bañuelos), Colonial (Luis Portillo) o Martinsa-Fadesa (Fernando Martín), así como otros empresarios. La crisis acabo con su reinado y ahora son las Sociedades anónimas cotizadas de inversión inmobiliaria (socimis) quienes ocupan el trono.

Su dominio se refleja en el mercado. Treinta y seis de las setenta y cinco empresas que cotizan en el Mercado Alternativo (MAB) pertenecen a esta tipología de sociedad. Y su capitalización, en torno a las 6.500 millones de euros, representa cerca de tres cuartas partes del total.

De hecho, el número socimis asciende a 41 si se tienen en cuenta las cinco que cotizan en el mercado continuo. Su valor conjunto es de 11.826 millones de euros y su número podría elevarse a medio centenar al finalizar el año.

Las socimis son sociedades anónimas cuyo objetivo principal es acumular activos mediante adquisición o promoción para su arrendamiento; requieren un capital social mínimo de 5 millones de euros y se les exige cotizar en mercados regulados, así como el reparto obligatorio de dividendo anual. A cambio, quedan exentos de tributar por el impuesto de Sociedades.

una socimi, su recorrido bursátil es una buena muestra del interés que vuelven a despertar las compañías inmobiliarias españolas. En el caso de las socimis, los mercados se han convertido en una vía de financiación más accesible que los bancos; de hecho, el capital captado por estas sociedades incorporadas al MAB a través de ampliaciones de capital (dinerarias y no dinerarias) asciende a 281 millones de euros en lo que va de año, según datos de Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME).

Las previsiones dicen que el sector tenderá a la especialización, aunque es probable que no todas las socimis sobrevivan como tal. Algunas tienen dificultades para captar fondos y los inversores no están dispuestos a apostar por cualquier cosa, de ahí que las previsiones apunten a un ajuste gradual.

Pese a ello, algunas estudian salir a Bolsa, como Centurion Real Estate, y entidades como la Sareb no descartan crear una socimi para canalizar parte de sus activos.

Los dueños de estas sociedades tienen un perfil que se corresponde más con el de inversores institucionales y profesionales. En muchos casos, fondos extranjeros y gestores anónimos que no buscan tanto la especulación como la explotación sostenida en el medio y largo plazo.

Los expertos coinciden en que las socimis han llegado para quedarse y están llamadas a ser las grandes protagonistas del mercado inmobiliario español de los próximos años. Podríamos decir que aún estamos en la primera ola de su desarrollo en España. Lo mejor llegará con la irrupción de otras socimis más especializadas.

Kingbook, Colón y General de Galerías Comerciales son algunas de las últimas incorporaciones. Junto a sociedades como Merlin Properties que ya es la de mayor capitalización, Colonial que ha sustituido en el mercado al Banco Popular, o Hispania, Lar España y Axiare.

Estas últimas han tenido un excelente comportamiento, dando lugar al llamado efecto Neinor. Una promotora inmobiliaria que comenzó a cotizar en marzo y en estos meses se ha revalorizado un 11,4%. Aunque no se trata de

Según Eviation, el Alice Commuter será 100% eléctrico y su modelo es completamente distinto a todo lo concebido con anterioridad.

Por su parte, el coche eléctrico más rápido del mundo está diseñado para alcanzar 354 km/h y ha desmontado la creencia general de que los coches eléctricos no pueden desarrollar velocidades similares a las alcanzadas por los vehículos de gasolina. En esta línea, es muy probable que el futuro de la aviación dibuje un cielo surcado por reactores eléctricos libres de combustiones caras y contaminantes.

Los cambios estructurales y técnicos que se prevén incluyen un cambio radical en el fuselaje del avión para acomodar nuevos motores que prometen ser notablemente más ligeros que los tradicionales. One of the pioneering companies in this field is Eviation Aircraft, an aeronautical company in Israel that presented a model of its Alice Commuter at the Paris Air Show this year, a project that aims to transform the aerial panorama. According to Eviation, the Alice Commuter will be 100% electric and its model is completely different to any models designed in the past.

The structural and technical changes planned include a radical change in the aircraft fuselage to fit new engines that promise to be noticeably lighter than traditional engines. Furthermore, the aircraft will dispose of the gas tanks needed by traditional airplanes, which potentially will increase internal space available.

Así que tiene sentido que haya sido la ubicación que el arquitecto Kengo Kuma ha escogido para diseñar el Eco-Luxury Hotel, un edificio radicalmente diferente a la estética predominante en París.

La propuesta del artista japonés, residente en la ciudad francesa, consiste en crear un hotel de lujo que sea en sí mismo un bosque que regenere la ciudad. Kuma ha ideado una estructura que combinará paneles de vegetación con piezas de metal para crear la sensación de estar sumergido en naturaleza. De este modo, la fachada se convertirá en un mosaico de plantas que

reverdecerá esta zona de la ciudad y su oferta turística, cuya tradición enmarca edificios de corte tradicional.

Kuma combinará materiales orgánicos e inorgánicos para evitar que se convierta en un bloque sólido, puesto que su estrategia de diseño era desarrollar una forma esculpida, como si estuviera formada por la erosión natural.

Esto no solo embellece el edificio, si no que distorsiona la vista exterior de las habitaciones y aseguran la intimidad de los huéspedes. La mezcla de metal, madera y vegetación produce un efecto de calma que invita a la reflexión.

Además, los paneles metálicos potenciarán las entradas de luz natural en el interior del hotel. El uso de la madera es, sin duda, la firma de Kuma es la madera, que utiliza en cada uno de sus proyectos de forma magistral.

Sus interiores tampoco dejarán indiferentes. El ideal ecológico que persigue va más allá de la creación de un hotel. La planta baja albergará un frondoso jardín lleno de una gran variedad de vida vegetal. Las paredes que

envuelven el jardín central estarán escalonadas con el fin de crear una serie de amplias terrazas y piscinas. El vestíbulo tendrá lugares para la actividad comercial y social, entre los que destacan un centro de negocios y un albergue juvenil, así como una cafetería y un restaurante.

El núcleo central del hotel estará abierto, permitiendo que las habitaciones más exclusivas tengan unas vistas espectaculares al jardín interior. Por último, la parte superior de la estructura contará con una terraza en la azotea que será un espacio totalmente verde: una vereda para enamorarse de las vistas de París.

La transgresora intención del arquitecto japonés va más allá de crear un pulmón para la ciudad: este diseño innovador será también un atractivo turístico dada la espectacularidad de su imagen. Se prevé que esté construido y abierto al público en el 2022. Dos años antes se hará realidad otro de los proyectos de Kuma: el estadio que albergará la celebración de las olimpiadas de Tokyo.

Cuatro bombas de calor geotérmicas y diversos paneles solares situados en su azotea ayudan a reducir la variación térmica en aproximadamente dos grados debido al microclima creado por la vegetación. Este ecosistema transforma 20.000kg de CO2 en O2 anualmente, por lo que contribuye a la reducción de la contaminación del aire.

Además el horizonte de Milán ahora es cambiante: las fachadas del Bosco Verticale modificarán sus colores dependiendo de las estaciones del año y la evolución de sus plantas. Es ejemplo, pues, de un nuevo modelo para el desarrollo de la ciudad en zonas altamente densas de población, que invita a pensar en la arquitectura como una anticipación del futuro.

structure that will combine vegetation panels with metallic panels to create a space that virtually submerges you in nature. Thus, the faรงade will become a mosaic of plants that will revive the area and increase its touristic attractiveness, especially since this area has mostly traditional buildings.

The left bank of the Seine became a very popular area in the 1920s due to its creative community: it was the residence of artists, writers, and thinkers such as Sartre, Picasso, and Hemingway. La Rive Gauche is an area populated by universities, hospitals, and public institutions, and still holds the bohemian spirit that has marked the idiosyncrasy of this capital city. Hence, it makes sense that the architect Kengo Kuma has chosen this location to design the Eco-Luxury Hotel, a building that is radically different to the predominant aesthetic in Paris.

Kuma will combine organic and inorganic materials to avoid the structure from becoming a solid block; his strategy is to develop a sculpted form that evokes natural erosion. This will not only embellish the building but also will block the view to exterior rooms, and provide guests with privacy. Furthermore, the metallic panels will increase the entrance of natural light to the interior of the hotel. The use of wood is, without doubt, Kuma signature material; he has used it masterfully on every one of his projects.

The design comprises an oval structure with a large oculus on top of the track, it also combines the favorites material of the artist: wood shaped in forms that imitate nature, and green spaces that respect the environment.

100 METERS HIGH FORESTS Green constructions are in vogue and represent a very promising alternative. The Bosco Verticale of Borei Studio was inaugurated in 2014 in Milan; it was acclaimed by the jury of the prestigious “International

Highrise Award”, who chose this project as the winner of that particular edition.

The building is an example of a recent renovation of urban spaces. It consists of two residential towers, one 80 and the other 112 meters high, hosting a total of 113 apartments, 800 trees, 11,000 plants, and 5,000 bushes. Thus, the 20,000 square feet meters forest grows vertically and favors the formation of an urban ecosystem.

Four geothermal heat pumps and solar panels located in the rooftop help to reduce the thermic variation by approximately 2 degrees, due to the microclimate created by the vegetation. This ecosystem transforms annually 20,000 Kg of CO2 into O2, which contributes to a reduction of air pollutants.

The construction of this building has created the effect of a constantly changing skyline in Milan because the facades of Bosco Verticale change their colors depending on the season and evolution of its plants. Buildings like the ones mentioned in this article, are an example of a new city development model, specially designed for densely inhabited areas, a concept that invites us to think about architecture, as a way to anticipate what to expect in the near of the future.

Una nueva raza de Aston Martin irrumpirá en el mercado en el 2019 El fabricante británico de automóviles ha confirmado que el RapidE, la versión totalmente eléctrica del Rapide de cuatro puertas, comenzará a fabricarse en 2019.

En la sede de la compañía llevan varios años enfocándose hacia un futuro más sostenible, asociándose con nombres tan importantes en este campo como son Williams Advanced Engineering o LeEco. De este modo y evolucionando el modelo Rapide S, Aston Martin ha presentado el prototipo del que será su primer eléctrico a baterías para que entre en producción en serie el año 2019.

Sin embargo, el RapidE se fabricará en una exclusiva edición limitada a 155 unidades, siendo así una rara pieza que atraerá a los coleccionistas más exigentes. La intención del fabricante del coche de James Bond es hacer un sondeo de la aceptación real del proyecto,

Y es que a día de hoy ya se está utilizando esta nueva técnica de producción para crear nada más y nada menos que casas y edificios enteros: existe una impresora 3D gigante que puede construir en 24 horas una casa de más de 200 metros cuadrados. ¿EN QUÉ CONSISTE LA IMPRESIÓN 3D? Esta tecnología es una invención de Chuck Hull, un ingeniero americano que bautizó este proceso como estereolitografía y lo patentó en 1986. Se trata de una técnica que permite unir moléculas mediante el uso de luz láser ultravioleta y así crear formas sólidas a partir de líquido fotopolimérico.

En la impresión 3D, los objetos se construyen capa a capa, algo que ya pasaba con la impresión con tinta. Sin embargo, con materiales más sólidos que la tinta y con ligeros desplazamientos en las capas se obtienen objetos en tres dimensiones. Los materiales que se utilizan en la actualidad abarcan desde las resinas y los plásticos más comunes hasta el acero y el hormigón. In 3D printing, objects are built layer by layer, something that was already happening with ink printing. However, with materials that are more solid than ink and with slight displacements in the layers and thus we obtain objects in three dimensions. The materials used today range from the most common such as resins and plastics to steel and concrete. Some companies are experimenting with natural materials like wood, bamboo or stone.

Eugenio Malyshev: Venimos de Rusia y yo llevo durante casi toda mi vida dedicándome al sector inmobiliario. En el año 1995 inmigramos a Alemania y seguimos dedicándonos al sector. Era “makler”, que significa agente inmobiliario que se dedica a alquiler y la venta de inmuebles. En el año 1996 mi familia y yo visitamos España como turistas y nos enamoramos de su clima, la amabilidad de la gente, la pureza del aire y de las vistas de ensueño. Hemos decidido mudarnos aquí. Nuestra hija,

O.M: ¿Qué ha hecho que se haya decidido por el sector inmobiliario de lujo?

E.M: Principalmente hemos querido elevar el nivel de nuestra cartera de clientes, poder conocer a gente de todo el mundo y trabajar con ellos. Nos encanta poder relacionarnos con compradores realmente interesados en invertir en el mercado inmobiliario, una circunstancia que nos ha permitido hacer socios y amigos en el sector. Nos entusiasma trabajar y creemos que el sector de lujo está en pleno auge.

O.M: ¿Porque emprender por medio de una franquicia?

Eugenio Malyshev: We come from Russia and I used to work in real estate sector for most of my life. In the year 1995 we immigrated to Germany and continued working in the sector. It was "Makler", which means real estate agent dedicated to rent and sale of real estate properties. In 1996 my family and I visited Spain as tourists and fell in love with their climate, the friendliness of the people, the purity of the air and the dreamy views. We've decided to move here. Our daughter, who has studied medicine, told us that, historically, the surroundings of Lloret de Mar were full of medical centers thanks to its unique flora consisting of eucalyptus and cedars that helped to recover people with different illnesses. We fell in love with its beaches, its views ... We want our children and grandchildren to live surrounded by these beautiful landscapes and thus extend our youth, thanks to the quiet and relaxed atmosphere.

Because here we feel really young and full of life.

O.M: Why you have chosen luxury real estate sector?

E.M: We have mainly wanted to raise the level of our client data base, to be able to meet people from all over the world and to work with them. We like to be able to relate to buyers really interested in investing in the real estate market, a circumstance that has allowed us to make partners and friends in the sector.
