Established in 2003, the firm’s broad area of expertise encompasses intellectual property law and is singularly dedicated to protecting the commercial interests and innovations of its clients in the energy and power sectors, aerospace and transportation, electronics and computer technology, and the e-commerce marketplace. Focusing much of his efforts on the southeast region of the United States, Mr. Hulsey is committed to fostering the kind of innovation and competitive evolution that has transformed small communities into bustling technological metropolises. His early innovation experience hails from Dallas and Austin, TX—innovative startups and tech companies; Northwest Arkansas—Bentonville (Walmart’s headquarters) and Memphis, TN—a global transportation hub (FEDEX, BNSF Rail, and the Mississippi Delta). Among his career accomplishments, Mr. Hulsey is particularly proud to have obtained over 2,000 patents and 1,500 trademarks for a wide array of individuals and companies, including the Lockheed Martin Aerospace Corporation, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, and the University of Texas, as well as hundreds of growing startup companies and inventors. He has also been instrumental in establishing the initial 100 patents required for disruptive technologies in single-crystal silicon solar cell fabrication technology and spearheading the U.S. Patent Office Pro Bono Inventor Assistance Program in Texas. Outside of his primary endeavors, Mr. Hulsey serves as a Certified Economic Developer through the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) in Washington D.C. as co-founder of EconoVention LLC, established to be an IEDC Accredited Economic Development Organization (AEDO). Before his work in these roles, Mr. Hulsey served as a senior partner in some of America’s most prestigious law firms (e.g., BakerBotts DLA Piper, and K&L Gates). Wellregarded for his scholarly prowess and vast contributions to the field, Mr. Hulsey notably authored Creating Managing and Licensing Intellectual Property Assets, which took the form of tens of hours of video training courses on behalf of Stanford University. Throughout his career, Mr. Hulsey has credited much of his success to the solid technical foundation he established through many years of service to the U.S. Armed Forces. During that time, he distinguished himself as a nuclear-trained engineering officer aboard the U.S.S. Jacksonville, a Los Angeles Class Fast Attack submarine attaining Lieutenant Commander rank. In honor of his performance in this regard, he was bestowed with several medals and decorations, including the Navy Achievement Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal, among others. Following the conclusion of his uniformed service, Hulsey worked in an engineering capacity on behalf of the U.S. Army, where he was responsible for developing various topsecret electronics intelligence projects. Mr. Hulsey first sought an education at Rhodes College, where he received a Bachelor of Science in theoretical mathematics with distinction in 1977. He studied economics at the University of Virginia, graduating with a Master of Arts in 1983, and at Vanderbilt University Law School, from which he attained a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1987 with honors. Mr. Hulsey has been admitted to practice law on behalf of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as well as before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the

U.S. Federal District Court for the Northern and Western Districts of Texas, the Texas and Tennessee Supreme Courts and the Supreme Court of the United States. He is a member of the Texas Bar, Tennessee Bar, and Society of Professional Engineers. In addition, he is affiliated with the U.S. Patent Office and is a Certified Economic Developer. Known for his contributions as a civic-minded citizen, Mr. Hulsey has earned distinction as a committed member of Rotary International, for which he served as a president of the Austin Westlake chapter and as a board director of the Waco Texas Rotary Club and Rotary International Economic Development Cadre. An avid supporter of the performing arts, he has been a member of the Grammy Award-winning Conspirare Symphonic Choir in Austin. On a professional level, Mr. Hulsey has maintained his affiliation with numerous economic development councils and relevant associations, believing such memberships to be vital to how one seizes opportunities to advance in their field. Following his graduation from law school in 1987, Mr. Hulsey believed that the future of America’s economic prosperity would be guided by emerging technologies and entrepreneurship. The laws governing the intellectual property rights of innovators would have to be strengthened and protected, and he steered his career efforts accordingly. Moving to Austin, he stood at the forefront of the technological wave in computer wireless and aerospace technology. Today he sees similar opportunities through technology-led entrepreneur-based economic development through local communities of the Cotton Belt—Delta Region and the IEDC. Looking toward the future Mr. Hulsey is excited by the possibilities that remain in emerging trends and continues to support the virtues of entrepreneurship, scientific endeavor, and education as well as prosperity-enabling democratic principles. Mr. Hulsey enjoys traveling in a recreational vehicle (RV) in his spare time.
