This research, undertaken by the GDST's Learning and Innovation team, explores how gender affects the way that students experience education. In particular, it focuses on the additional pressure to conform which girls face in mixed-gender environments, the ways in which girls-only schools can fully accommodate the needs and preferences of girls and the way in which today's successful girls’ schools serve to subvert, rather than support, gender stereotypes and a priori assumptions, by offering an education designed for and dedicated to the
development and empowerment of successful, confident and adventurous girls.
