The dental industry has undergone significant changes in recent years, yet dental insurance continues to pose challenges for o ces and patients. Many dentists are underpaid for their services, and patients struggle to receive the quality care they deserve. As more practices explore ways to reduce their reliance on insurance, an important question arises: Can they a ord to make the shift? And what alternative models can support long-term success? In today’s subscription-driven economy, consumers increasingly prefer predictable, membership-based services, and dental practices can leverage this trend by implementing in-o ce membership plans. This model not only boosts patient retention and case acceptance but also attracts new cash-paying patients while o ering insured patients a valuable alternative. Membership plans are no longer just the second option. They’re becoming essential for sustainable practice growth. To stay competitive, practices must be willing to adapt to changing industry trends.
Learning Objectives:
Optimize marketing strategies and budgets through implementing a winning membership plan model.
Understand the key do's and don'ts for long-term success with membership plans.

Periodontal and implant patients pose di erent challenges to the dental team, complicating ways to restore and maintain health, function, and esthetics. As their treatment evolves from single tooth replacement to full-arch rehabilitation, each surgical procedure should include a personalized homecare and maintenance regimen. With more materials and techniques available today, it is increasingly di cult to discern what is most appropriate for each patient.
Salivary testing, antibiotic therapy, mouth rinses, and laser therapy may benefit some forms of periodontal and implant therapy but is less e ective for others. However, guided biofilm therapy provides a universally better way to preserve teeth and implant restorations with patient-friendly materials and precision technology. This is especially true in cases of periodontal breakdown, where gingival recession, a lack of keratinized mucosa, and/or exposed implant threads make maintenance more challenging. This course will showcase a variety of periodontal and implant surgical workflows, highlighting the importance of maintenance and homecare routines in improving the patient experience and long-term results.
Learning Objectives:
Understand and execute di erent periodontal and implant surgical procedures.
Choose the most appropriate materials and techniques for prophylactic, non-surgical, and maintenance interventions.
Identify patient-specific, site-specific, and environmental risk factors that impact the success of periodontal and implant therapy.
Design tailored homecare programs that optimize long-term health and prevent disease onset or progression.

Management of acute odontogenic pain is accomplished through a clinical approach that successfully incorporates intraoperative local anesthesia and a postoperative regimen of non-opioid and opioid analgesics. However, improper and inappropriate use of both local anesthetic agents and analgesics have the potential to produce adverse outcomes for our patients. Thus, it is critical for clinicians to accurately evaluate the need for pain control, identify associated risks, and assess the e cacy of the agents to be administered. This program will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the pharmacology and therapeutics of local anesthetic agents and analgesics. Special emphasis will be given to e ective perioperative pain management and best practices for prescribing analgesics for postoperative pain control.
Learning Objectives:
Understand the pharmacology and mechanism of action of opioid and non-opioid analgesics, as well as their potential for abuse.
Identify the intended roles of these analgesics in the treatment of acute dental pain, as well as situations which may preclude their use.
Discuss best practices for prescribing opioid analgesics as part of an individualized patient pain management plan.
Note: This program meets the training requirement for Drug E nforcement Agency (DEA) registrants when combined with five hours of education from courses with similar content provided by the ODA or other DEA-approved training organizations. Course Code S63
