Association News

The Clubhouse Front Desk has been busier than ever this last month handling the photo op appointments, registering golfers for their new bag tag and taking checks for membership in the clubs. The Front Desk is basically a big mailbox and residents can leave information in “Resident Pick-up” to be given to the addressee. The Front Desk can provide information including a weekly schedule of activities and direction to the appropriate individual(s). Interest groups are formed if a resident is looking to start a particular activity. The newest request added to the Interest List file at the desk is to provide a Zumba Exercise Class. If there is enough interest generated, then the Recreation Department will try and see that it is scheduled. Availability is always a concern. This includes the instructor’s availability and whether there is space to host the activity. Phone Directories for residents only have arrived and they are available at the Clubhouse Front Desk. If a correction to your listing is needed, please submit that in writing to the Clubhouse or the HOA Office. This last month the Solos Club disbanded and they enjoyed a wonderful dinner celebrating together. The climate of the social events has changed over time. Some of the activities that are hosted welcome single members and the Recreation Department have encouraged single people to sign-up for tables to sit together. Dancing alone is acceptable and line dancing is definitely one way to get the “dancing bug” requirement met. Nubees has been an encouragement for new residents to break the ice, whether single or partnered. Sailing, Anglers, Travel, Art Lovers, Wine Tasting, Choral, Sewing are just some of the clubs that allow the freedom to be single and meet new

friends. If you are new or recently single, please reach out to some of these clubs and pursue a membership with them, as the friendships you cultivate will help in your adjustment. Hopefully, as this edition is published our “Impersonator Tribute” will be sold out. The staff in the Clubhouse is partial to their events as we do have a great time but much has to do with the make-up of those that attend. During the Recreation Department events neighbors get to see neighbors that they rarely see, hugs are exchanged and the sense of community is felt throughout the venue. The Recreation Department will always encourage residents to get out of their seats and express their satisfaction (clapping, dancing and singing) with the entertainment. We have also been known to shower the crowd with candy! It appears the Fitness Center is experiencing a surge in participation as the New Year progresses. Please come to the Clubhouse Front Desk and fill out a fitness waiver, if you have not done so. The Community Services Committee decided to extend the three month trial to add Las Posas Shopping Center in San Marcos to the bus schedule, so that residents can have enough time to have lunch and take in some shopping. This destination is on the Thursday route and a reservation can be made for any of the destinations by calling the Clubhouse the DAY BEFORE the desired trip at (760)758-8772. The bus schedule is also available online: www.oceanhillscountryclub.com under Recreation/recreation happenings. Happy Valentine’s Day! This is a great recipe for your “Life Cookbook!”
