The Athlete Round table has been an opportunity for me to expand as an overall individual. I look forward to listening to Shamiel Gary and other speakers who are knowledgeable in areas that I can be better at such as mental health, sleep, finances, professional development, etc. This platform has also provided me the opportunity to network and hear amongst peers facing the same challenges as a student-athlete.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

Athlete Roundtable has connected me with athletes alike from all across the country and allowed us to develop helpful skills together beyond the practice field! It’s great having someone like Shamiel who cares so much to support us in our development as athletes and professionals and help us to network and reach greater success! This group also helps hold me accountable to making small improvements in my life that make a difference in the long run and for that I am very appreciative!

In life, you get out what you put in. The Athlete RoundTable is all about giving you the tools to do that too maximum. But it’s on YOU to show up and to listen.

Shamiel has played an important role in educating myself on succeeding in life after sports. Leveraging the skills I learned on the tennis court and translating it into the real world. With his guidance I was able to put myself out there, resulting in landing an internship this summer at the largest bank headquartered in Texas and another opportunity at a hedge fund in Oklahoma City while we are witnessing some of the toughest moments in the job market for young individuals kickstarting their career.

The Athlete RoundTable has taught me many things in the short span that I’ve been apart of the group. It has introduced me to a better lifestyle at an early age. From self-love, to growing in every aspect, and building connections! I would recommend the Athlete RoundTable to anyone who is ready to better their life and focus on the small things at an early age!

The athlete RoundTable provides skills and knowledge that a normal student athlete may not be provided with. Shamiel not only helps with on the court things but he has provided me with skills that improve my life off the court as well.

The Athlete RoundTable has helped me grow in many ways. I’ve been able to connect with fellow collegiate athletes. The things I’ve been able to take from the experience have been things like making a proper diet, budgeting, etc. I’ve also learned that now i am a collegiate athlete is the best time to brand and market myself while i have the platform.

The Athlete RoundTable has taught me life lessons that will transcend my athletic career such as budgeting, manifesting goals, creating a schedule, branding, etc. These important skills are not taught to student- athletes which makes the Athlete RoundTable so vital and pivotal to my success. I have been able to learn life lessons/skills as a college athlete rather than later in life by my own trial error.

Shamiel has been able to share with me valuable life skills that I have been able to implement into my life immediately.

I’ve had the opportunity to build a relationship with Shamiel during his talk at the freak show camp. His experience in the NFL and life the NFL was very interesting to learn and hear. Since then, Shamiel has taken me to the film room to enhance my film study techniques, helped me create my own budget, check my credit, and encouraged me to take initiative in my nutrition. I’m looking forward to continuing to learn and work with Shamiel as I pursue my individual and team goals during my senior year.

The Athlete RoundTable has been a great source of information and support during the previous months I have been a part of it. I have gained much information and experience in how to use my leverage as a studentathlete to build connections and network, specifically using LinkedIn. I have learned how to create and follow a schedule I set for myself each week and how to be best organized to allow myself to put my best foot forward each day.
