A sampling system seeks to obtain a small product sample from a pipeline that has the same ratios of oil, water, and contaminants as a running stream.

The equipment should be focused on obtaining a sample of the finished output from the pipeline. It's done by manually getting a sample from simulated flowing conditions under essentially isokinetic conditions. As a result, collecting samples from non-flowing streams, launch tubes, and other unreliable sources will not give a high-quality sample.

Although fluid quality features are just as significant as quantity for fiscal operations, any fiscal metering system must include precise quality analysis and representative sampling.

For all the crucial hydrocarbon parameters for natural gas, crude oil, and refined hydrocarbon products, OGSI’s sampling system and quality skids provide accurate monitoring. They also offer both metering system sampling skids and a stand-alone sampling system.

To put it another way, OGSI's sampling systems are divided into two categories: in-line and fast loop. Let’s look into each one of them.

In-line Sampling When analyzers aren't required for each project, an automatic oil sampling device, also known as an inline sampler or insertion sampler, is the better alternative. It is the most cost-effective option.

Furthermore, maintenance can be performed between batches, which is especially important for metering systems used frequently. The insertion sampler is designed to be installed directly on the pipeline being sampled.

Fast-loop Sampling For operations that demand the utilization of fluid quality analyzers, fast loop sampling is the most feasible alternative. This proposal is equally relevant for pipeline metering systems that run continuously since fast loop sampling bypasses the mainline and can be maintained without stopping the metering process.

These methods are ideal for crude oil, condensate, or refined hydrocarbon products and can be utilized with most metering systems. However, some operators deploy it as a stand-alone unit for the process control of product parameters. For instance, this is used alongside transmission pipelines.
