Meter prover Basically, a meter prover is a piece of equipment that calibrates the readings of a flow meter. Most modern meter provers are automatic apparatus. However, they can also be manual. The function of a meter prover is to identify changes in the amount of liquid or gas flowing in the pipeline at different time periods. The sensors in the prover detect fluctuations in the flow and accurately calibrate the same readings.

Bi-directional pipe prover It is a revised sphere prover that enables the displacement ball to travel continuously.

The standard setup includes a four-way valve that permits fluid flow to be reversed when the sphere reverses direction.

For operating, a spherical prover ball is pushed through the proving groove by the liquid or gas entering the system. To assess the efficiency of gas/fluid flow, it is directed via a sequence of sensors and calibrated segments inside the prover system, and the number of impulses created is counted by a prover counter.

It is the most widely used prover system. However, besides a normal U-type BiDirectional Meter Prover, in which the sphere travels throughout a curved length, the sphere goes along a straight stretch of pipe, in which no extra resistance develops. As a result, this design has several benefits over the traditional U-shaped calibrated section.
