Message from the Director

Dear Residents,

Our Summer was full of park projects, smiling campers, busy parks and athletic fields, sweaty Pickleballers, and endless fun! We hope that whatever you chose to do with your longer days that you enjoyed them to the fullest.

We are excited to welcome back our Preschool friends and Before/After school participants. If you missed out on a particular program, be sure to join the waitlist; spots may open throughout the year!

We have many programs starting up as the temperatures start to cool. Look for our fall sports leagues and programs, adult fitness programs, senior enrichment and events, and toddler programs. We are especially excited for our 10th anniversary of our Pineway Ponds 5K Run/Walk. Help us celebrate by registering to join us or cheering participants along the course. Many more programs and events round out the last few months of 2024; we hope to see you!

As we close out the year, we want to send a great big OPR THANK YOU to our instructors, employees, and volunteers. Additional kudos go to our Town Departments who help with park projects and special events. It is truly a team effort to accomplish our goals and we are so appreciative of those who want to join us.

With four young boys, my wife Kristen and I spent much of our summer driving them to and from sports practices and watching their games. Outside of our kids’ sports commitments, we made sure to enjoy the outdoors as a family. We love exploring our local parks, walking along the canal, and cooling down with a treat from one of our local ice cream shops. One of the highlights of my summer was watching the Ralph Wilson pedestrian bridge come through town on the CMT Kelly via the Erie Canal. Experiencing this alongside my family and community members was truly memorable.

I was also delighted to see so many kids participating in our Parks and Recreation Department’s summer programs. Our team does an incredible job planning and preparing these activities, and I can confidently say that the kids who join will have a blast, make new friends, and leave each day with a smile.
