KIRIBATI: THE LAND OF THE FIRST DAWN

its a ost certain no that there e ore than eter of sea e e rise in the pacifc ocean. n a at is and e iri ati this presents an enor ous threat to a uni ue indigenous cuture and place of unparalleled beauty.

Crude oil, amongst many others is a pivotal antagonist in the chronicle of mans harmful footprint on the planet. It has been the life blood of most western and developed economies today and has fuelled the industrial and technological revolution at great cost of human health and our ecosystem. The proposal envisions a post fossil fuel dependent world powered by healthy, more sustainable and cleaner forms of energy. This will render heavy oil rig infrastructure obsolete. The repurposing of these structures already designed and engineered for a life at sea, could ironically, present a lifeline for Kiribati and its people.
