MARCHING SEASON BEGINS WITH BAND CAMP, BARBECUE

The 2024 band camp was a whirlwind of activity, filled with long days of practice and rehearsal. From July 29th to August 3rd, band members dedicated countless hours to perfecting their marching routines and music. The early mornings and late nights were undoubtedly challenging, but the students' enthusiasm remained high throughout the week.

Under the guidance of the Mr. Moura and the technicians, students worked diligently to master their parts and synchronize their movements. The camp provided an opportunity for band members to strengthen their musical skills, build camaraderie, and develop a sense of teamwork. Beyond the rigorous practice schedule, there were also moments for relaxation and fun.

To celebrate the end of a successful camp, the band hosted a BBQ on September 3rd. Family and friends gathered to enjoy delicious food and

A MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD PRESIDENT

Hello! My name is Erica, and I have just recently joined the Oak Grove Marching Band Board as the President of the boosters. I have been a band parent going on three years alongside my son, Eli, who plays Saxophone. NOTES FROM THE BAND DIRECTOR

Hello from the band office. My name is Chris Moura. I have been the director of bands here at Oak Grove since 1995.

I am so excited about this new season of music. We have many performance opportunities for your students to participate in.

The band program is a place for beginning musicians up through the

marching band, pep band, jazz band, winter percussion and winterguard.

Throughout the year we perform on campus for concerts, football games and rallies as well as in our community, across California and internationally.

The most visible performance ensemble is the marching band. We compete 6 times and travel as far as Fresno. This year after state championships on November 24th we plan to travel down to Anaheim to march down main street in Disneyland. In addition to this trip, your students will be offered the opportunity to travel to London, England or Madrid, Spain! This trip is a few years away but the fundraising is starting now!

The Oak Grove Band program is well known across California. In my 29 years so far, we have won 36 championships! Come be a part of something great!! Go to www.ogbb.org/memberinfo to find out more about our band program. most advanced musicians. We offer two concert bands, the symphonic band for the younger students and the wind ensemble for the more advanced students we also have

watch the students perform. It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the band's progress and hard work. The BBQ provided a chance for everyone to relax, socialize, and appreciate the dedication of the band members.

Overall, the 2024 band camp was a resounding success. The students emerged from the experience with a deeper appreciation for music, a stronger sense of community, and a solid foundation for the upcoming marching season.
