I don’t envy any of you trying to pick and choose what you’ll go and see this year. From our wonderful Opening Night film – The Drummer and the Keeper, to the FilmOffaly Bursary Winning ‘Kubrick by Candlelight’ right through to the wonderful documentaries The Quiet Architect (directed by local filmmaker Mark Noonan), The Call of the Forest, or the iLofar Film, 13,000,000,000 Light Years from Birr. There’s the shorts, the 57 Hour Challenge, a special programme of shorts from our new partner the Umbria Film Festival, and don’t forget to keep an eye out for our new Animation Residency launching during the Fest. It’s all happening here at OFFline 2017. Enjoy the ride!

13,000,000,000 Light Years From Birr This is a documentary where great feats of engineering meet space exploration, where Irish ingenuity from the past meets Irish innovation for the future, to produce a cuttingrural Ireland. In the company of presenter Jonathan McCrea, 13,000,000 Million Light Years From Birr is the story of how one of the world’s most advanced telescopes will arrive in Ireland, it shows how this next-generation radio technology will unlock clues to one of the earliest phases of cosmic history, and how these astronomers are part of a distinguished Irish heritage in reach-

Trolls a colourful, wondrous world populated by the overly optimistic Trolls, who have a constant dance in their step and a song on their lips, and the comically pessimistic Bergens, who are only happy when they have trolls in their stomachs. After the Bergens invade Troll Village, Poppy, the happiest Troll ever born, and the overly-cautious curmudgeonly Branch, set off on a journey to rescue her friends. Together, this mismatched duo embarks on a mission full of adventure and mishaps – trying to tolerate each other long enough to get the job done.
