Moreover, Belmont faculty provide personalized attention, making time available with scheduled office hours and involvement in student activities. Each undergraduate business student is assigned a faculty advisor who teaches in the concentration of interest. Advising takes place in a one-on-one setting each semester so individual needs can be met.

Dr. Jeff Cornwall is the Jack C. Massey Chair in Entrepreneurship at Belmont University. Before joining Belmont, he was the Cofounder and President/CEO of Atlantic Behavioral Health Systems. After nine years of rapid growth and negotiating the sale of most of the corporation’s business interests, he returned to academics. Dr. Cornwall consults with a variety of businesses on startup and growth-related issues. His current research and teaching interests include entrepreneurial finance and entrepreneurial ethics. He has authored or co-authored six books and his blog, the Entrepreneurial Mind, is one of the most popular small business blogs on the web and is part of the Forbes blog network.
Prior to her teaching career, Dr. Simmons held several positions with Caterpillar Financial Services, including Programmer Analyst and IT Business Analyst. During her time at Cat Financial, Dr. Simmons also served as a 6 Sigma Black Belt and was responsible for facilitating and applying 6 Sigma methodologies to diverse improvement and implementation projects. Recently, Dr. Simmons, in collaboration with her husband, created Homework Suite, an academic planner mobile app. The app was designed with college students in mind in order to help them track their own class attendance and keep tabs on group projects, while also making sure to not forget when an assignment is due.
Dr. Marieta Velikova was named the 2015–2016 Chaney Distinguished Professor, an award determined on the basis of superior teaching and is presented each year to a Belmont faculty member who best represents the vision of the university to be a “premier teaching institution.” Dr. Velikova has led numerous study abroad trips to Turkey, Japan, Guatemala, Cuba and Brazil. She is active in the business community being a member of the Tennessee Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Nashville Chamber of Commerce, board member of Society of Universal Dialogue and the Turkish American Chamber of Commerce.
