This classic comedy film that follows the bumbling French detective Inspector Jacques Clouseau as he tries to catch a suave jewel thief known as “The Phantom” before he can steal the famous Pink Panther diamond. Hilarity ensues as Clouseau’s clumsiness and eccentricities lead to a series of comical mishaps and misunderstandings in his quest to solve the case.

A gripping drama that chronicles the notorious 1919 Black Sox scandal, where eight members of the Chicago White Sox conspired to intentionally lose the World Series in exchange for money from gamblers. As the players grapple with the consequences of their actions, the film explores the dark underbelly of America’s pastime and the moral dilemmas faced by those caught up in the scandal and affairs.

The poignant love story between a wealthy restaurateur, played by Richard Gere, and a terminally ill young woman, portrayed by Winona Ryder. As their passionate romance blossoms against the backdrop of the vibrant New York City autumn, they grapple with the complexities of love, life, and loss.

This October we dig deep into our American roots with revealing stories of the American wild west. We are excited to bring you the brand-new Ken Burns documentary, The American Buffalo, airing Monday, October 16 at 7 p.m. Explore the rich historical landscape of bison, which once used to roam the American Great Plains for grazing grounds while providing a spiritual way of life—not to mention food, clothing and shelter—for many Indigenous people. The Ken Burns film takes an in-depth look at the animal’s near extinction as well as survival through the stories of the Indigenous as well as the unlikely actions of other famous people ranging from a cattle herder to a president. Go further into the Oklahoman story of the mighty bison, with Back in Time: Where the Buffalo Roam, airing Thursday, October 19 at 7 p.m. In tune with the era, Back in Time: Wild West Women airs Thursday, October 5 at 7:30 p.m.

Spanning out for a take on the rest of the world, NOVA: Ancient Earth traverses the wild, inhospitable landscapes that later became the world we know today. This miniseries is intent on examining the creation and survival of life despite the extreme adversity of the environment. Ancient Earth airs Wednesday, October 4 at 8 p.m. Next, take a dive into a place we know less about than we know about space: the ocean. Nature: Spy in the Ocean is a light-hearted but revealing and picturesque miniseries with some incredible ocean views and surprising, never-before-seen marine animal behavior guaranteed to leave you smiling, beginning Wednesday, October 25 at 7 p.m.

His unfiltered and unpredictable presence quickly made him a trending topic, showcasing the power of influential figures in shaping discourse on social media.

WHERE THE BUFFALO ROAM

In the vast expanse of the Great Plains, there once thundered a mighty presence, the American bison. When explorers first set foot on the untamed frontier, they were awestruck by a majestic sea of 30-million bison roaming free, their thundering hooves shaking the ground beneath them. By 1900, only a thousand remained in the entire country.

For uncounted ages a dull roar swept across the plains like rolling thunder. Buffalo herds so vast they blackened the prairie moved in herds that covered three states. To the people living on the plains, they were both the source of sustenance and held a profound significance in their spiritual lives. Native tribes depended upon this one majestic creature for food, clothing, weapons and shelter.

The Bison reigned supreme over the vast American landscape, from the Ohio River Valley to the rugged expanse of the Rocky

Mountains, from Central Canada south to Mexico. To the Indians, they numbered more than the stars, and they stood as the beating heart of the universe itself, until one day they were gone. European expansion, settlers and the railroads exterminated the buffalo. Hunters, driven by greed, piled the remains of these noble creatures higher than the tallest trees or abandoned their hulking carcasses to wither in the unforgiving sun.

The 20th century marked a significant turning point for the buffalo. Oklahoma

conservationists, ranchers, showmen and oil men began to see the importance of the bison to the American West. They were bred, protected, and brought back from the brink of extinction. Today their descendants live on, thanks to the protection of Native tribes, philanthropists and federal preserves, Oklahoma is Where the Buffalo Roam.
