VIEWER COMMENTS

PBS NewsHour is outstanding! We have learned so much about what is happening in our world.

Whether its Nova, Frontline, the News Hour or curling up to a Ken Burns documentary, I always look forward to these and other shows on display in the OETA library to inform and entertain me.

Gallery America is a very inpressive show that originates here and I personally believe it should be available in other markets.

A NOTE FROM POLLY

This November, OETA fills the airwaves with meaningful shows that celebrate civic duty, creativity, and gratitude during our nation’s month of thanksgiving. We kick off on Monday, November 4th with “Antiques Roadshow: Celebrating Native American Heritage” at 7 p.m., honoring the rich contributions of Native American art and artifacts in our shared history. The following day, we empower our community with comprehensive national election coverage starting at 5 p.m., culminating in Oklahoma’s election coverage from our studio at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5th—a true call to civic engagement.

Join us for the poignant “Salute to Service 2024: A Veterans Day Celebration” on Friday, November 8 at 9 p.m., paying tribute to those who have bravely served our nation. On Wednesday, November 13th at 8 p.m., we inspire creativity with “NOVA’s” new series, “Building Stuff,” and then dive deep into the genius of Da Vinci with Ken Burns’ documentary “Leonardo Da Vinci” on Monday, November 18th. We’ll also celebrate the legendary David Attenborough with a special tribute from “Nature” on Wednesday, November 20th at 7 p.m., showcasing his pioneering storytelling journey.

For our younger viewers, we’re excited to premiere “Carl the Collector” on Thursday, November 14th at 7:30 a.m., featuring an engaging protagonist and friends who represent autistic and neurodiverse children.

Your support makes this enriching programming possible. Thank you for being a vital part of our mission to inform, inspire, and connect our community!

OETA Movie Club has been a Saturday night staple on OETA for more than 30 years. Subscribe to The OETA Movie Club Podcast for a deep dive into the classic films shown every Saturday night at 9 pm.

Unveiling the Genius: Leonardo Da Vinci

This November, Ken Burns, alongside Sarah Burns and David McMahon, presents Leonardo Da Vinci , a captivating four-hour documentary airing on OETA in November. This film delves deep into the life of the quintessential Renaissance polymath, born in 1452 to a notary and a peasant, who transformed the worlds of art and science.

Set against the vibrant backdrop of Renaissance Italy, the documentary explores Leonardo’s journey from a humble upbringing to becoming the creator of iconic masterpieces like the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. It offers a unique

perspective through his personal notebooks, filled with sketches and scientific musings, illuminating the mind of a visionary who envisioned flying machines and advanced weaponry long before their time.

Featuring interviews with modern scholars and artists, Leonardo Da Vinci aims to reveal the complex relationship between his artistic endeavors and scientific pursuits. Prepare to be inspired as we rediscover a genius whose legacy continues to shape our understanding of creativity and innovation.

Watch Part 1 at 7 p.m. on Monday, November 18th, and Part 2 at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19th.

Don’t miss Secrets of the Dead: Leonardo, the Man Who Saved Science on Wednesday, November 6th at 9 p.m. Discover new evidence about Leonardo’s inventions and whether he truly invented them first!

Think Wednesday

Kicking off the month, Nature transports viewers to the stunning landscapes of San Diego: America’s Wildest City on November 6th. This episode reveals the diverse ecosystems thriving within this urban paradise.

The excitement continues with Lions of the Skeleton Coast on November 13th, showcasing the majestic predators navigating one of the planet’s most inhospitable environments. On November 20th, Attenborough’s Life Journey takes center stage, celebrating the iconic naturalist’s remarkable contributions to wildlife conservation. The month wraps up with Woodpeckers: The Hole Story on November 27th, offering an intimate look at the lives of these remarkable birds.

Simultaneously, NOVA challenges perceptions of science with Decoding the Universe: Quantum on November 6th,

followed by a thrilling three-part series on innovation titled Building Stuff , airing weekly through November 27th.

Finally, Secrets of the Dead takes us on an archaeological journey, starting with the Lost Treasures of the Angkor series, airing on November 13th and 20th and finishing with Jamestown’s Dark Winter on November 27th.
