This November brings us Thanksgiving, Veteran’s Day, and Native American Heritage month. It genuinely is a month to give thanks for all the sacrifices made that define and characterize who we are today. As we settle in for oncoming holiday festivities, we want to take time to honor our communities. Back in Time features Oklahoma veterans Thursday, November 10 at 7 p.m. and indigenous history Thursday, November 3 and 17 at 7:30 p.m. Her War, Her Story: World War II, narrated by Jane Lynch, takes a look at the many roles of women in American wartime on Friday, November 11 at 10 p.m. And to keep you informed on your community’s elections, join us for Oklahoma Votes for local live election coverage on Tuesday, November 8th at 8 p.m.
We also have plenty to celebrate this holiday season, and we’ll do so in style. This month Great Performances features the New York Philharmonic playing Beethoven’s 9th Symphony on Friday, November 4 at 9 p.m. followed by Great Performances: The Sound of Music. Then on Black Friday, join us for a festive time with Josh Groban’s Great Big Radio City Show November 25 at 9 p.m. Finally, OETA is proud to air the Oklahoma Hall of Fame 2022 induction ceremony Saturday, November 19 at 3 p.m.
Thank you for welcoming us to your table this holiday season. OETA continues to strive to bring you stories that help our community come together. As always, we are honored to have your support of our programming.
The Oklahoma News Report takes great pride in its political coverage- not just on election night, but year-round. We closely monitor the legislative session and our Oklahoma delegation in Washington to prepare content for our weekly newscast, and this enables us to provide in-depth, non-partisan information that can help our viewers make their own decisions about which issues are most important to them and which candidates best embody their values, and therefore, which candidates they should vote for.
Ultimately, that’s the key to a successful election night, regardless of who you support- exercising your right to vote, whether it’s in-person or by mail. In my view, the best elections are those that produce a heavy voter turnout. If a large majority of Oklahomans vote and the results are clear, we can all take comfort in knowing the winner, whether they’re our candidate or not, has been chosen fairly and by a significant portion of eligible voters.
So get out and vote and proudly wear that sticker! And once you’ve voted, be sure to check out our live coverage on November 8 from 8-10 pm. We utilize AP voting results, which are fast and highly respected.
We’ll have reporters standing by live at the headquarters of Governor Kevin Stitt and challenger Joy Hofmeister and I’ll be joined on set by several of the best political analysts in Oklahoma as well as representatives from both the Republican and Democrat parties.
The political divide in America is real and opinions and passions on all sides are very strong heading into the midterms. On the national level, control of both the House and Senate are at stake. November 8th is a very important night for the future of our country and state and we look forward to all of you joining us for a few hours to see how it all shakes out and hear from political experts on what it all means--before quickly pivoting and turning our attention to the Presidential election just two years later in 2024.

Tutankhamun: Allies & Enemies, a new twohour documentary, produced and shot on location by an all-Egyptian crew led by filmmaker Hossam Aboul-Magd goes beyond examining Tut’s tomb and treasures. The film will re-envision the chronicles of a young pharaoh, sharing his version of events and offering a look at how the “Boy King” experienced his short-lived human existence.
Lead archaeologist Dr. Yasmin El Shazly and photographer Mahmoud Rashad explore Egypt and the Americas, meeting with historians, archaeologists, and scientists to inspect historical inconsistencies and delve into secrets surrounding Tut’s childhood and family.
As Dr. El Shazly sought answers, she said, “I’m doing so not only because I am an archaeologist, but as an Egyptian who wants to understand the history of my magnificent civilization.” When asked why she set out to examine the different theories surrounding Tutankhamun’s life and legacy, she stated, “King Tut is not the golden mask. Tut was a human being just like anyone else. He was probably less fortunate than many.”
Tutankhamun: Allies & Enemies combines drone footage and computed tomography (CT) scans to create a more detailed picture of King Tut’s burial. Dr. El Shazly gives viewers unprecedented access to recently unearthed tombs that offer valuable insights into the political and social upheaval of this pivotal period in Egyptian history.
Journeying across Egypt from Cairo to Luxor, the film provides an in-depth exploration pursuing answers about King Tut, the powers and people that impacted his life and death, and the legacy his reign left behind.
Tutankhamun: Allies & Enemies offers a unique perspective on the epic story of King Tutankhamun,” said Bill Gardner, vice president of multiplatform programming and head of development at PBS. “So much more than a collection of priceless artifacts, his legacy places him at the center of one of the most intriguing political thrillers of all human history. Following the clues through the eyes of Egyptian researchers brings an immersive authenticity that is unlike any other telling of this fascinating tale.”
