Catch it at 7:30 p.m., followed by the gripping season finale of Wolf Hall at 9 p.m. Then on Sunday, December 8th, join us for Lucy Worsley’s Holmes vs. Doyle, a fascinating three-parter that looks at the love/hate relationship between Sherlock Holmes and his creator, Arthur Conan Doyle, airing at 7 p.m. Then a few of OETA’s favorite dramas drop with the new seasons of Midsomer Murders Thursday, December 12 at 8 p.m. and Father Brown Sunday, December 15 at 6 p.m.
Bringing us back to the vibrancy of the season, on Monday, December 2nd, Emmy-winning Made with Love focuses on Mexico’s bold, colorful artisanal traditions. It’s a journey through history and creativity you won’t want to miss at 7 p.m. Then, on Tuesday, December 3rd, join us for Henry Louis Gates, Jr: The Fabric of America at 7 p.m. This documentary celebrates his work in uncovering the richly diverse threads that unite our national story. Finally, we cannot leave December without Joy: Christmas with the Tabernacle Choir, sure to bring the warmth of the Christmas spirit into your homes, airing Tuesday, December 17 at 7 p.m.

This December, OETA presents a dazzling array of musical specials celebrating both classic and contemporary sounds. Whether you’re drawn to the soulstirring hits of the ‘60s and ‘70s, the powerful voices of Broadway’s finest, or the magic of holiday traditions, there’s something to delight every listener.
On Thursday, December 5th, at 7 PM, 60s and 70s Soul Celebration unites R&B legends like The Temptations, Patti LaBelle, and Sam Moore for a nostalgic performance of archival classics. Later, at 10 PM, All New Rock, Pop, and Doo Wop revisits ‘50s and ‘60s hits from Johnny Maestro, Frankie Valli, and other rock icons.
Then, on December 13th at 9 PM, VIOLENT FEMMES: 40th Anniversary with the Milwaukee Symphony celebrates the folkpunk band’s debut album with a symphonic twist, blending rock and classical music in an unforgettable performance.
On Friday, December 6th, at 9 PM, Broadway’s Leading Men: A Musical Celebration showcases the voices of Christian Borle, Norm Lewis, Matthew Morrison, and others, paying tribute to the beloved men of Broadway in a concert of unforgettable show tunes.
As Christmas approaches, OETA continues its holiday celebration with Too Hot to Handel: The Gospel Messiah on December 17th at 8:30 PM, a dynamic reimagining of Handel’s classic oratorio, and Joy – Christmas with the Tabernacle Choir at 7 PM, bringing together stunning vocal arrangements with special guests Michael Maliakel and Lesley Nicol. On December 20th at 9 PM, A Christmas with Sir John Rutter at Preston Hollow features the famed composer conducting a performance of his beloved carols.
OETA wraps up the month with classic Christmas with the Bach Festival Society: Joyful Sounds on December 20th at 10 PM , a breathtaking performance from the Bach Festival Choir and Orchestra that captures the spirit of the season with joyous holiday music. Then, on December 24th at 10 PM, Navidad: A Concordia Christmas offers an uplifting performance infused with Mexican Christmas traditions. And to ring in the New Year, Sara Bareilles: New Year’s Eve with the National Symphony Orchestra & Friends at 7 PM on December 31st , followed by Cynthia Erivo & Friends: A New Year’s Eve Celebration at 8:30 PM.

Join OETA every Wednesday for Think Wednesday, featuring inspiring documentaries from Nature, NOVA, and Secrets of the Dead. On December 4th, Nature presents Saving the Animals of Ukraine, spotlighting wildlife rescue efforts. December 11th brings Portugal: Wild Land on the Edge, showcasing Portugal’s natural
beauty, followed by NOVA, which dives into the restoration of Notre Dame. On December 18th, NOVA reveals Lost Tombs of Notre Dame, and Secrets of the Dead closes out the month with Eiffel’s Race to the Top, exploring the Eiffel Tower’s construction.
