“A Place in the Sun” follows George Eastman, a poor young man, as he rises in social status. He becomes entangled in a love affair with socialite Angela Vickers while engaged to working-class Alice Tripp. George’s ambition and the complexities of his relationships lead to a tragic outcome, exploring themes of class, love, and morality.

“Fences” revolves around Troy Maxson, a former Negro League baseball player working as a garbage collector in 1950s Pittsburgh. Join us for April’s highly anticipated total solar eclipse with NOVA’s “Great American Eclipse” airing Wednesday, April 3 at 7 p.m. Experience the awe-inspiring celestial event from the comfort of your home. On Wednesday, April 24 at 7 p.m., dive beneath the waves with “Changing Planet: Coral Special” to explore the delicate vitality of coral reef ecosystems.

Back on land, witness the gripping drama of “Mr. Bates vs. The Post Office.” This four-part series from Masterpiece is based on the real-life British Post Office Scandal, where a faulty computer system resulted in hundreds of employees being falsely accused and prosecuted for theft. Catch this intriguing film beginning Sunday, April 7 at 8 p.m. following “Call the Midwife.”

For another blast from the past, take a look back at the life of William F. Buckley, who hosted “Firing Line” and was known as an entertaining, fiery, and often controversial public figure. Find out more about this thought leader’s influence on American public discourse with American Masters on “The Incomparable Mr. Buckley” airing Friday, April 5 at 9 p.m.

American Experience: Surviving the Dust Bowl

Monday April 15 at 9 p.m.

Dubbed “Black Blizzards,” these ominous clouds, spanning for miles, whipped millions of tons of soil into destructive torrents. From 1930 for a decade, relentless dust storms transformed the once fertile southern plains into desert, leading to disease, hardship, and death. Despite this, many resilient individuals clung to their land and way of life.

American Experience: Poisoned Ground:

The Tragedy at Love Canal

Monday April 22 at 8 p.m.

Revisit the story of the 1970s Love Canal disaster, one of the most notorious environmental and public health disasters in US history. The battle for justice, led mostly by women, created the basis for the landmark federal Superfund program.

Climate Change - The Fact

Monday April 15 at 10 p.m.

Scientists explore the impact of climate change and what could happen if global warming exceeds 1.5 degrees. Discover how the latest innovations and technology are posing potential solutions and what individuals can do to prevent further damage.

Changing Planet: Coral Special

Wednesday April 24 at 7 p.m.

Will embark on the third year of this 7-year project examining the issues facing the planet’s most threatened ecosystems. Dr. M. Sanjayan visits the Maldives to take an in-depth look at coral reefs and the urgent efforts to help them survive climate change.

When money started to seemingly disappear from its local branches, the government-owned UK Post Office wrongly blamed its own managers for the apparent loss. Hundreds were harassed, accused of theft and fraud, even sent to prison—leaving lives, marriages, and reputations in ruins. But the issue was actually caused by errors in the Post Office’s own computer system; something it denied for years.

Spanning from the heart of Texas to the coastal expanse of Maine, this celestial spectacle marks the final total solar eclipse visible across the contiguous U.S. until 2044.
