While this July you may feast your eyes on bright fireworks displays and mouthwatering barbecue at the lake outside, we aim to bring all that goodness inside too We will begin celebrating American independence with A Capitol Fourth airing at 7 p m Tuesday, July 4th Enjoy some ever-talented home cooks’ dishes and the rich, delectable stories connecting them in a new season of The Great American Recipe Mondays at 8 p.m.

There’s nothing quite like sharing stories around a summer campfire, and this month we share some exceptional storytelling Check out Human Footprint: Man’s Best Friend Wednesday, July 19 at 8 p m for a fun and heartwarming trek through the historical pawprint of our favorite pets. And beginning Tuesday, July 18 at 8 p.m., join us for a 3part series on Southern Storytellers, which covers authentic creatives of the South from books, poetry, to theatre limelight. Following at 9p.m., explore the significance of our national symbols and the aspirations of what it means to be American in Iconic America: Our Symbols and Stories with David Rubenstein Finally, Ken Burns’ much acclaimed Country Music docuseries continues this month Fridays at 9 p.m.

And from our friends across the pond, join us for summer sleuthing Sundays beginning with the all-new smart and quirky Sister Boniface July 9 at 6 p m , followed by the season premiere of Grantchester at 8 p m and newcomer D I Ray at 9 p m The long awaited season 9 premiere of Doc Martin will begin airing Thursday, July 6 at 9 p m , so be on the lookout.

Grantchester Season 8

Fan-favorite crime drama Grantchester is set to return on July 9th for an eighth season on OETA.

This season of Grantchester takes its beloved characters on a journey of joy, despair, and exciting suspense. Will, once the happiest he's really ever been, faces a devastating accident initiating his spiral into despair and challenging newfound doubt in his faith in a compassionate God. Meanwhile, Geordie finds contentment in his relationship with Cathy, but work-related announcements threaten their happiness

With the support of Mrs C, Leonard, Jack, and Daniel, Will and Geordie navigate unfamiliar emotional waters, all while murder lurks nearby

This season of Grantchester explores a wide range of themes, from Speedway to spies, shedding light on the lives of invisible women and the challenges Leonard faces with his new vocation, potentially pitting him against the law.

Faith, forgiveness, and redemption are put to the test, pushing Will and Geordie to their limits.

The ensemble cast features returning actors Charlotte Ritchie as Bonnie, Tessa Peake-Jones as Mrs. C, Al Weaver as Leonard Finch, Kacey Ainsworth as Cathy Keating, Oliver Dimsdale as Daniel Marlowe, and Nick Brimble as Jack Chapman.

Special guest actors for this season include Shaun Dingwall, Jeff Rawle, and Jemima Rooper, adding their talents to the compelling narrative of the series

When D.I. Rachita Ray, a policewoman new to homicide, is assigned to investigate the suspected honor killing of a young Muslim man, she quickly realizes the suspects can’t be guilty. The evidence against the two brothers from a British Hindu family is flimsy at best.

Two Korean American children of liquor store owners reconcile their own dreams with those of their immigrant parents. Along the way, they confront the complex legacies of LA's racial landscape while engaged in current struggles for racial and economic justice.

HUMAN FOOTPRINT is a visually stunning six-part science documentary hosted by biologist Shane Campbell-Staton, Ph.D.

Premiering on OETA from July 5 to August 9, the series takes viewers on a captivating exploration of how humans are transforming the planet and what these changes reveal about our species. From state-of-the-art labs to bustling street markets, farms to restaurants, and ancient forests to the urban back alleys of New York, the show showcases the diverse ways in which human activities are reshaping the world.

Throughout the series, Shane engages with a wide range of individuals, including scientists, historians, rat exterminators, and dog dancing experts. Through these unique interactions, he uncovers the intricate motivations behind our impact on the planet and presents opportunities for a more harmonious coexistence.

For Shane, hosting "HUMAN FOOTPRINT" has been a transformative adventure, deepening his understanding of the profound connections between humans and the world around us. He hopes the series will inspire viewers to perceive and contemplate these connections in new and thought-provoking ways.

While rooted in scientific knowledge, "HUMAN FOOTPRINT" delves into the essence of human nature rather than presenting a pessimistic narrative of human wrongdoing. It offers an honest reflection on our substantial ecological footprint and our remarkable history of transforming the Earth.
