This brochure presents new quantitative measures
of environmental policy stringency (EPS) developed by the OECD. The
EPS indicator is a composite index, derived through the aggregation of
information on selected environmental policy instruments, primarily related
to climate and air pollution. It covers most OECD countries over 1990-2012,
and has recently been extended to BRIICS (Brazil, Russia, India, Indonesia,
China and South Africa).
