PISA 2018 global competence framework The OECD PISA 2018 framework defined global competence as: a multidimensional capacity that encompasses the ability to: 1) examine issues of local, global, and cultural significance; 2) understand and appreciate the perspectives and worldviews of others; 3) engage in open, appropriate, and effective interactions across cultures; and 4) take action for collective well-being and sustainable development. The framework articulates a view of Global Competence as a multidimensional construct, involving students’ cognitive, socio-emotional, and civic development. Global competence is needed to thrive in an interconnected and interdependent world. More specifically, it is a vital competence for living harmoniously in multicultural communities,
