Eating Local in Punggol: A Guide to the Best Hawker Stalls

There’s so much good food in Punggol! This is why it’s grown into one of the busiest weekend spots on the island for family and friends.

And the best thing is, you’ll find most of the great dining spots all in one place, at One Punggol Hawker Centre. From staple everyday meals to classic hawker foods, you won’t be disappointed with the neighbourhood’s vibrant culinary scene.

If you’re looking for good food in Punggol, then you’ve come to the right page! We’ll share some must-visit hawker stalls in the area where you’ll find amazing but cheap eats!

1. Eng Kee Chicken Wings

With the opening of their latest branch in Punggol, it didn’t take long for Eng Kee Chicken to become the new dining hotspot in the neighbourhood.

Popular for their crispy chicken wings that are juicy on the inside and seasoned to perfection, Eng Kee Chicken keeps their meals affordable. We all know that chicken wings aren’t always as cheap as other hawker favourites, so we appreciate them for this!

You can have a filling chicken meal for just less than $5! Pair their chicken wings with either fried bee hoon or fried kway teow for only $1.20 if you want a more scrumptious meal.

2. No. 25 Minced Meat Noodles

You can never go wrong with noodle soups even on a hot scorching weekend. No. 25 Minced Meat Noodles is our go-to spot in Punggol for comforting and heartwarming soups!

For first-timers, we recommend getting the Minced Meat Noodle, which you can order either dry or as a soup. If you want a little bit of everything, get the Signature Minced Meat Noodle which comes with meatballs and Fuzhou fish balls.

No. 25 Minced Meat Noodles also serves a wide range of soups with innards, if you’re into those. By the way, this isn’t a halal-certified eatery.

All in all, this is the place to go if you’re looking for budget-friendly noodle soups that are enough to keep you full for the rest of the day.

3. Lim Bo Rojak

If you’re looking for a different take on the classic rojak, then you’re going to want to check out Lim Bo Rojak. It’s one of the few hawker stalls we know of that specialises in Penang-style rojak.

Lim Bo Rojak has all the dishes you might crave while in a Malaysian restaurant, but without the ridiculously high prices. You might want to start with the shiok and then upgrade it with extra fruits and prawn fritters for only $8.50.

If you’re that hungry, skip the starter meals and order the Lim Bo Special for a bigger serving. This has more fruits, more prawn fritters, and more fried fish skin.

As far as the quality of fruits goes, everything is incredibly fresh, as if they’re harvested and prepared on the same day.

4. Kwang Kee Teochew Fish Porridge

Another great option if you’re a huge fan of soups just like us is the Kwang Kee Teochew. With its fish porridge having been around for over six decades, it’s basically become an institution among locals and a must-try for visitors and tourists

The highlight of its dishes has to be the hearty and comforting fish broth. Although prepared only with fish bones and dried sole fish, it’s incredibly flavourful and clean-tasting all at once.

You can start with the basics by ordering their signature dish which is the Sliced Fish Porridge for only $8.50. There’s also the Dual Fish Soup if you want a little bit more fish head, batang slices, and fried Dory chunks.
