OCOM applicants for admission will be required to complete a minimum of 75 percent of the required credits for a bachelor’s degree in a college accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education to be considered for an interview. Applicants must earn a baccalaureate degree prior to matriculation Applicants should have achieved at least a 3 2 cumulative grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale to be considered.
The admissions process is competitive, and a higher-grade point average (above 3.2) results in improved chances for acceptance. The most competitive applicants would have a science and cumulative GPA of 3 2 or higher OCOM also places emphasis on the applicant’s interview.
The required undergraduate courses for entry are:
Biological Sciences: One year with laboratory (8 semester hours/12 quarter hours)
Physics: One year (6 to 8 semester hours/9 to 12 quarter hours)
Inorganic Chemistry: One year with laboratory (8 semester hours/12 quarter hours)
Organic Chemistry: One year with laboratory (8 semester hours/12 quarter hours)
English: One year (6 semester hours/8 quarter hours)
Six (6) additional science hours are highly recommended
OCOM recommends courses in the 300/400 level or beyond in subjects that will enhance performance in medical school such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Microbiology, and Immunology

To accomplish these principles, we implement the following strategies: Systems-based approach integrating clinically-applicable biomedical science concepts into the clinical application of medical knowledge; AND Use of a combination of:
Modern medical school curriculum with a focus on wellness, safety, and excellent student experience
Hands-on fully integrated manipulation room
Curriculum built on the principles of:
self-directed learning with associated virtual anatomy
case-based physician-led learning
patient-centered simulation
Learning Consolidation course throughout DO program, challenging students to apply their knowledge to complex clinical cases
Longitudinal preparation for the COMLEX-USA
Seamless integration of Apple technology within a Google cloud powered environment
OCOM faculty members develop the curriculum with input both from the larger college Curriculum Committee as well as from the Department Chairs and Course Directors. Integration is ensured by Course Directors and Course Teams of subject matter experts (individualized for each course) overseeing appropriateness of content. A Course Leadership Liaison assists in the organization and operationalization of the curriculum and supports the Associate Dean of Pre-Clinical Education in ensuring that faculty have the tools they need to succeed in delivering their content to our students.
