“OUR OCEAN… OUR YOUTH”

“THE RECENT MURAL PROJECT AT THE OCEAN INSTITUTE EXEMPLIFIES THE ORGANIZATION'S COMMITMENT TO OCEAN CONSERVATION THROUGH EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT.“

In partnership with the Mares Foundation, which fosters ocean literacy among youth in Latin America, this mural highlights the importance of cross-border collaboration in tackling environmental challenges. Noche, the artist who created the mural, emphasizes the ocean's role in connecting people. Environmental challenges know no borders, and neither should the solutions. We are stronger when we work together, and this mural represents a powerful step forward in our shared mission to protect the ocean. Together, these initiatives seek to inspire a collective responsibility to protect the ocean for future generations.

On Tuesday, October 8th, the Ocean Institute proudly unveiled the stunning mural, celebrating the beauty and importance of ocean conservation. The event featured remarks from Dana Point Mayor Jamey Federico, Ocean Institute President and CEO Dr. Wendy Leavell, and Mares Foundation Founder Cutberto Hernandez. Special recognition was given to artist Noche, who was honored with a Congressional Certificate from Congressman Mike Levin's office, celebrating his exceptional contributions to the arts and the ocean community. The mural stands as a vibrant symbol of collaboration and dedication to protecting our ocean environment.
