Reds four goal quarter Round 6 - weekend of May 15 OGCC U10 Red (40) St Albans Brogden (36) Wow! A fantastic four goal last quarter saw our team win against St Albans Brogden by only 4 points. The team was encouragingly and enthusiastically guided by Dave Farrell in the absence of coach ‘Joffa’ and our Captain for the week Harry Hillier. Harry was strong in the back line early in the game and then won important possessions late in the game when the team needed. A great Captain’s game. Joey Chalmers played a great game also, being able to keep the ball in front of him and running onto it. Max McGuane, fought hard all game and worked back on his opponent as a strong backman. 2nd and 3rd efforts by Liam Williamson earnt him an award for his efforts. Goals were scored by Jakeb, Ted, Billy, Harry, Lachlan and Harrisyn, with a great team effort to come from behind and win. Great game Cobras. OGCC U10 White (21) Angelsea (3) Cobras white players refused to accept their underdog status and came out coyly up against an in form Anglesea side treading lightly up until the last quarter with both sides 3 points apiece. Jobe Lange snagged two along with Jackson Stephenson who capitalised on perfect feeding play from cobras mid-fielders Miller Keck and Preston Rokesky .Solid ruck work from Noah Collins, Jayden Thorn and Harry Rolfs gave runners Riley Hynson, Will Irwin and Ethan Hamilton room to move moving the ball superbly through the center. Jack Every earnt his pay and silenced the critics. Solid defending from Finly Rolfs, Ben Eales and Ashley Dwyer had an impact. Special mention to Michael Wilkinson, Elijah Ottoson and Jacko Stephensons "hanga" great effort. Awards to Jobe Lange, Preston Rokesky, Jackson Stephenson, Jayden Thorn and Jack Every OGCC U10 Orange (20) Aireys Inlet (42) The Boys took on Aireys Inlet for the second week in a row under much better conditions, a fantastic team effort saw a much better game from our boys, full of enthusiasm and run they took the game right up to the Eels. If not for one tall player for the Eels who rucked all day, our team could have won. With goals to Ryan, Henry, and a burst through the pack goal to James Dean, the boys were on fire. The Stow brothers were fearless, Ryan Drinkwater and James Devine taking strong marks and Liam bounced back from a kick in the head last week to get some important

OGCC U10 Blue (36) Lara(29) A terrific all round team effort won the day for the Blues against a competitive Lara. Usual suspects Blake Hodgson, Jack Connolly and Levi Norman set up the game for a close last quarter with lots of support from our 1st year players. Tom Greer and Ari Mantzaris moved into the middle in the last quarter and thwarted any chance of a Lara victory with their great tackling and long kicks. Jarrah Hay got bowled over going for a mark but still managed to come up holding a Lara players boot! Jezalenko you beauty.. Straight out of the coaches book. Keep it going Blues. Awards to Angus Derham, Jamieson Hallam, Tom Greer and Lachie Appleyard. OGCC U12 Blue (102) Grovedale Black (25) It was a lovely warm Sunday morning and our boys treated us to a spectacular display of junior footy. Grovedale Black were met with wall after wall of fair tackles and found there was no room to move without having to face a Cobra. OGCC Blue were not only strong in defence, they were also hurting the opposition with some very accurate kicks at goal. In the third quarter with a target in mind, the boys kicked 5 goals in 15 mins, averaging a goal every 3 minutes!A mighty effort with a great display of courage from the boys who tackled well, smothered the ball and put their bodies on the line today. Goals kickers were Rhys Devlin, Sam Donegan, Hayden Ewart, Luke Ewart, Nick Gibbon, Will Lamb, Xavier Norman & Kirby Reilly, with Awards going to Lachlan Pfaender, Saxon Apps, Tim Hannan and Will Wright. OGCC U12 White (52) North Shore Seagulls (39) On a perfect day for football
the Cobras White boys came ready to play and put in a full 4 quarter effort against a strong opponent. Their constant attack on the ball and relentless pressure around the contest is what made all the difference on the day. Led by the captains for the day Xavier Ryan and Eoin McNolty, once again their teamwork and link up play was a joy to watch. Goal kickers were Xavier Ryan, James Spowart, Saxon Copeland,Jai Harrison Roberts, Kye Annard and Austin Hamilton. The Encouragement Award winners were Saxon Copeland, Xavier Eales, Jai Harrison Roberts and Eoin McNolty. GO COBRAS! OGCC U12 Orange (116) Aireys Inlet (14) On Saturday morning the Snake pit saw U/12s OGCC Orange take on Airey’s Inlet. The Captains for the day were Joe Doedel and Cooper Smith. The Cobras boys with a pre-game rev up from Coach Craig began quickly leading at qtr time 24 to 1 point. This continued in the second and third qtr with Airey’s Inlet having trouble penetrating the “ Pricey Wall” and led 65 to 14 at 3/4 time. The last qtr saw the floodgates open and the Cobras rammed on 8.3 to run out easy winners. Award winners for the day were Ned Gray, Bailey Hague, Darcy Mifsud and Koby Welch. Goalkickers were Hamish Green, Oscar Price, Connor Asquith, Luka Kapitelli, Joe Doedel , Jack Newland , Darcy Freeman , Max Lacy , Baxter Lindsay , Flynn Ness ,Cooper Ward and Koby Welch. OGCC U14 1's (46) Geelong Amateurs (0) The OGCC U/14 1's travelled to Queens Park to take on the Geelong Amateurs on Sunday. In slippery conditions, the boys has a solid 1st qtr and held a handy 10 point lead at the first break. Mitch Taylor was again dominating the clearances and was being
ably assisted by a rampant Ross Symonds. The team stepped it up in the 2nd qtr and with a stingy backline & a hard working forward line the 2nd qtr was all Cobras & they held a 36 half time lead. The second half turned into a grind but with the backline being impenetrable and Luke Giblin, Kobe Annand and Tom Ness teaming beautifully across half back, the boys held the opposition scoreless running out 46 point winners. OGCC U14 2's (68) Modewarre (56) The Cobra 2nds played good contested football in the 1st quarter and got the score on the board early to take control of the game however their pressure backed off in the 2nd quarter letting Modewarre get back into the game. This was addressed at half time and a better 3rd quarter was delivered by the boys. The last quarter was a good challenge for the boys who came from behind to kick a number of goals and they posted a very solid win. Effort delivered reward! OGCC U14 3's (0) South Barwon 2 (62) This week the boys travelled to South Barwon to play their 2nd side. Although they were too big and strong we battled extremely hard all day and everyone contributed. Connor FisherMcNeil was our dominant big man on the Ground, Alexander Warner was hard at the footy and Ben Soppitt and Cooper Falconer were outstanding. Well done boys, a tough game of footy. Round 7- weekend of 22nd May (Friday night and Saturday games only) OGCC U10 Orange (47) Drysdale Boothroyd (16) The Orange boys travelled to Drysdale to play their Boothroyd side under lights on Friday night, a tight opening quarter with the ball spending more time up Drysdale's end with them only scoring one behind, inside the last couple of minutes Koby
Millar-Burton got his first goal for the season from the goal square. James Devine kicked our only goal in the second giving us a 7 point lead at the main break. The boys could feel their first win for the season was possible, and with brilliant goals to Henry Wood, James Stow and Griffin Anthony's first goal in only his second game, gave us a good lead at three quarter time. Full of run and dash, the boys were relentless, Henry Wood was full of run, Tane Napier was devastating on the wing, Joe McGregor, Ben Bowers and Oliver Kristapson were rock solid in defense and Ryan Drinkwater played a brilliant captain's game helping us outscore Drysdale in every quarter, giving us our first victory for the season. Awards to William Croswell, Sunny Ofthsea, Joe McGregor and Ben Bowers, a great team effort! OGCC U10 Blue (30) Torquay Grossman (13) A home game this week for the Blue boys which proved to be a great game of footy. A quick start by Torquay had our defenders busy in the first quarter. The boys hit their straps in the 2nd with a great goal from Luke Devlin and a super bouncing goal by Kai Caligari. Tough tackling and rebound play by Ari Mantzaris helped Jack Connelly finish with a terrific running goal. Torquay mounted challenge in the last but outstanding defensive work by Tom Greer, Jack Connelly and Angus Derham made sure the blues got the job done.
Awards this week to Archie Moran, Luke Devlin, Austin Webber, Zaden Bell and Lachie Allan. OGCC U10 Red (12) Torquay Voss (44) Noah Poirier led our Under 10 Red team today as Captain. He started off in the back pocket and held the defence up well. Lachlan Morrow was another strong player and when playing half forward he presented himself well and created team options by bringing his team mates into the play. Torquay were held to only one goal in the 3rd quarter and Shay Kilpatrick worked well at half back with strong marks and long kicks. Oscar Koec-Teaque contributed and played a team game and also was strong with his marking. Not a win today but all players put in great efforts. Go Cobras! OGCC U12 White (1) South Barwon 1 (90) It was an extremely tough day at the office for the
Cobras White boys today. After a slow start to the game the boys found themselves in big trouble at quarter time with South Barwon piling on 6 first quarter goals to zero. It was much of the same in the second quarter but that's when the Cobras spirit and fight kicked in, the second half was a great arm-wrestle and although they could not close the gap on the scoreboard the boys played their hearts out and kept the home team to only 4 second half goals. The Cobras were fantastically led by their captains for the day in Jhonte Lange and Saxon Copeland who along with their teammates never gave up and continued to fight right to the final siren. Great effort boys! Encouragement awards this week to Fletcher Keck, Ned Poynder, Izaak Terhorst and Bailey Scarpa. OGCC U12 Blue (8) Torquay Grossman (23) It was perfect footy weather for a Cobra home game against an inform Torquay Grossman. The Torquay team got away to a 2 goal lead in the 1st quarter, with these being the only goals they scored all day. The Blue team battled hard all day displaying some tight footy with great smothers, tackling and a great goal in the 3rd quarter by Cooper Styles had the boys really chasing a win. The last quarter proved a tough contest and our boys could not peg the opposition back. A great effort today boys! Awards to Aston Lynch, Liam Chapman, Josh Giblin and Max West. OGCC U14 2's (111) Torquay Nairn (1) The early game today required a wakeup call for everyone and Cobra 2nds were on from the 1st bounce putting multiple goals on the scoreboard through the 1st and 2nd quarters. Brilliant run and carry off our half back line provided many opportunities to be set up further down field. The 3rd and 4th quarters continued in much the same style with good solid efforts all around the ground from all the players. A very good win was enjoyed by all with multiple goal kickers.
