BELLARINE police say they are reacting proactively to a noticable but not alarming spike in the number of cannabis use incidences they are coming across. Last week police arrested a 40-year-old Ocean Grove man in relation to supplying cannabis. A 38-year-old woman is also expected to be questioned at a later stage. “We are trying to target people that are using and dealing drugs in our area,” explained Leading Senior Constable Laurie Taylor. Earlier in the month police discovered an alleged commercial crop of cannabis at a property in Lings Road. “We’ve not got as big a problem as Geelong but we have seen a spike in people using (cannabis).” Sen Const Taylor added that police had come across an increasing number of 16-21 year olds smoking cannabis in cars.
