Every now and again a large five-day high would move in from the southwest with light and variable winds. We knew when a high moved in it was our chance to have a calm weather trip to Cape Town. Our dock neighbour was an Afrikaner who had been sailing the coast for years, including time on a salvage vessel. He passed along words of wisdom we had not read before: stay within the 200m line even though there is more current flow to the east; outside the 200m line are more than occasional rogue
