Phillips leaves OPA Resignation follows series of closed meetings about complaint against director By Greg Ellison Staff Writer (Feb. 19, 2021) Ocean Pines Director of Amenities and Operational Logistics Colby Phillips resigned on Thursday in the wake of recent closed-door meetings tied to an ethics and conduct complaint against a member of the Ocean Pines Board of Directors. “My resignation is in conjunction

with recent events,” Phillips said. The directors convened close meetings on Jan. 26, Jan. 29 and Feb. 4, presumably to discuss a complaint filed by an employee who alleged that a current board member violated the association’s resolution regarding Director and Officer Ethics and Conduct. By Greg Wehner Staff Writer (Feb. 19, 2021) Tempers flared between Ocean City Council members on Tuesday when a discussion to reschedule the Jellyfish Festival – a family-oriented two-day music/extreme sports extravaganza – for Sept. 11-12 turned into accusations of backdoor deals over modifying the date for Labor Day weekend at the last minute. Brad Hoffman of Live Wire Media & Events last held the Jellyfish Festival in June 2019, and it was supposed to take place again in 2020. But like many other events, it was cancelled because of the pandemic. Hoffman anticipates restrictions related to covid-19 are expected to remain in place in June, so he proposed hosting the festival from Sept. 11-12. By Ally Lanasa Staff Writer (Feb. 19, 2021) A bald eagle is resting comfortably in serious, but stable condition, after flying through the windshield of a truck on Route 113 near Langmaid Road in Newark last Friday afternoon. Tractor-trailer driver Wayne Hamilton, 63, of Delaware, said the bird was apparently swooping down after prey when it crashed through his windshield and landed in his lap.
