Kamau Mandela Marshall Texas Southern University HBCU Top 30 under 30 Class of 2010 | Journalism & Public Affairs | Field Government /Politics & Communications Kamau, a 2010 Texas Southern University graduate (Journalism & Public Affairs), has been cited as a Top 30 Under 30 by HBCU Buzz, a leading source of HBCU new, sports and entertainment for of the 107 Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Marshall is known by his contemporaries as someone committed and passionate about using his accomplishments to inspire cadres of youth leaders, especially among Black and Brown males domestically and glaobally. Marshall, who resides in Washington, DC, is currently working on a second masters degree from Harvard University, after having completed the school’s National Security, Strategy and Press program in 2013 and successful stints as a United States Senate Press and Legislative Fellow and a Truman National Security Congressional Scholar. At TSU, Marshall honed his civic engagement and political acumen as student government executive vice-president, debate team member, drill sergeant in the Ocean of Soul, an a co-founder of the TSU Collegiate 100. He is a member of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated. Texas Southern University Alumni Kenny Burrough and Lloyd Wells inducted in the Black College Football Hall of Fame 2016 Induction Class

The Black College Football Hall of Fame (BCFHOF) inducted their Class of 2016 in March 2016 earlier this year. Six inductees were selected from a list of 25 Finalists who had been determined earlier by the BCFHOF Selection Committee. The Class of 2016 includes Ken Burrough (Texas Southern University), Jethro Pugh (Elizabeth City State University), Otis Taylor (Prairie View A&M University), Emmitt Thomas (Bishop College), Aeneas Williams (Southern University) as player inductees and Lloyd “Judge” Wells (Kansas City Chiefs’ Scout) as a contributor. The Class of 2016 will be honored at the Seventh Annual Black College Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony, Presented by the Atlanta Falcons on February 27, 2016. The Enshrinement Ceremony takes place at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia. Kenny Burrough had an outstanding 12 year career with the New Orleans Saints and the Houston Oilers. Mr. Burroughs was a Two Time Selection to the Pro Bowl, Two-time All-Pro, and Led NFL in receiving in 1973. Lloyd “Judge” Wells, a graduate of Texas Southern University, was the first African American Scout in the National Football League. Mr. Wells was an advocate for convincing the NFL to heavily recruit African American athletes The Pro Football Hall of Fame (PFHOF) and the Black College Football Hall of Fame (BCFHOF) have announced a historic partnership that provides the BCFHOF with a permanent home at the PFHOF as a part of the new Hall of Fame Village, a $500 million development of the PFHOF’s campus. The two organizations will also work together on joint programs and events including: hosting the annual BCFHOF induction ceremony at Hall of Fame Village; expanded educational programming and special events at the PFHOF during Black History Month; a travelling exhibition; and postgraduate internship opportunities for graduates of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The partnership also includes a future BCFHOF HBCU Classic to be held at the new Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton and a major permanent exhibition inside the PFHOF.
