The power of people, preparedness, and pedals: Pop down to Waldport this Spring!
Spring is an exciting time here at Oregon Coast Community College.
We have many wonderful classes that will be taking place at all our locations. We are also preparing for our annual commencement ceremony, which will take place at the end of this term.
While we prepare to transition our graduates, we are excited to see them prosper. One of our goals at OCCC is to help graduates stay and work in the Lincoln County community, if doing so can fit in their life and career goals.
While some will transfer on to four-year institutions, OCCC will be here waiting to serve once they return to Lincoln County. We look forward to seeing old friends again through our continuing education programs – like those you’ll find inside this publication – and our many workforce training opportunities.
With the passage of our recent bond, our faculty and staff are working hard to identify new programming that will be delivered in our new career and technical education building. Watch for news about our groundbreaking, which we hope to see take place before the start of the Fall 2025 term.
As ever, OCCC strives to create a welcoming environment for everyone. We remain steadfast. At OCCC we equip student for success by providing educational pathways and supports in response to the diverse needs of our community. Through accessible and engaging programs and a commitment to equitable outcomes, we enrich the economic and civic vitality of Lincoln County and beyond.
Go Sharks!

What is inside us, reflects externally. Or is it the other way around? In any case, if you are living in chaos, it doesn’t feel good and reflects in your life. We use several techniques to help you clear away external blocks to help you release those internal blocks which prevent you from living your life, your way. Using guided meditations as well as practical lists of sorting, purging, and releasing to guide you to clear unwanted, unneeded energy and stuff from your home to create the life you desire. This class is not your typical “get rid of things you don’t need and then you end up with the same mess all over again” class. This program is designed to help you get to the core of how to have the “things” you want to keep and how to release things that don’t serve you any longer. Join us for a clutter-clearing class unlike you have ever heard of. A little energy clearing work, a little (or a lot!) physical homework, and a new feeling of space at the end of our time together.

This class will focus on solo steps that are the precursor to the modern, competitive style popularized by “Riverdance.” This class will be more challenging than the social dancing class, mostly because the steps are intricate, and require the ability to get your feet to do what your brain tells them to do. It’s not extremely physically challenging, as these steps are danced by people well into their 80’s in Ireland, but some low-level hopping about will definitely be in volved, so balance and a little stami na will be needed. We will focus on both sean-nós steps (mostly spon taneous and in response to music) and old style set dances (choreographed). A sense of rhythm and at least some background in dance will be very helpful. Any kind of flat, well-fitting shoe like an Oxford is fine.
INSTRUCTOR: NORA SHERWOOD
If you love music and dance, this is for you. Folks in Ireland are cradle-to-grave dancers, and there’s something for everyone! This class will focus on the social (ceili, pronounced “kay-lee”) dances, and is for adults who love dance and music, but might not have the knees, ankles, and stamina of a 14-year-old. You do need to have enough strength and balance to handle some skipping around and a little sweating. A sense of rhythm and some background in dance, gymnastics, ice skating, etc. (anything where you had to string some movements together) will be helpful, but not necessary. Any kind of flat, well-fitting shoe like an Oxford is fine.
