The National Alliance on Mental Illness Marion County (NAMI Marion County) is dedicated to improving the quality of life for those living with mental wellness issues and their families through support, education, and advocacy. NAMI Marion County has served the local community for since 1988, incorporating as an affiliation of the National Alliance on Mental Illness in 1998. Goals include reducing stigma and advocating for programs including research and treatment.

NAMI Marion County’s programs reach hundreds of families in need of support services, education, and community with other individuals with similar, or probably the same problems.

We are a community of individuals, mostly volunteers, with a lived experience with various facets of mental health issues, focused on advocating and supporting not only those who may experience mental health conditions, but specifically supporting their families. NAMI is there to provide hope and help to those in need, suffering, and feeling lost in the complex world of mental health.

NAMI SIGNATURE PROGRAMS (all are FREE)

• For those living with mental health challenges: Attend Peerto-Peer and learn skills to get into, and stay in RECOVERY, and join NAMI Connection support group to meet with a community of your peers

• For families supporting a loved family member with MH symptoms: Attend Family-to-Family and learn personal and navigation skills to create a rock-solid foundation for your loved one, and join Family Support Group to embrace a community of others with similar, maybe identical problems to solve.

• For Veterans: Contact us to discuss the NAMI Homefront program

• For parents of teens, probably K12: Contact us for the NAMI ETS Ending the Silence program

• For work groups, schools, service groups, general interest: Contact us for NAMI IOOV In Our Own Voice, NAMI Friends and Family, and other presentations helpful to a group.

For Peers In Recovery

Looking toward learning life skills (TheORAClubhouse.org)

• The ORA Clubhouse provides community and is a recovery-through-work program for adults recovering from mental illness, through participation in our “work-ordered day.”

For Our Community

• NAMI Staff and Volunteers will design a program to meet your specific needs for presentation to work groups, service groups, schools, companies, service providers, and other community groups. Programs include Family and Friends, In Our Own Voice, Mental Health Overview, and others –depending on the needs and interests of the groups.

• Specially focused annual programs

• NEW---NAMI Walk –coming in September as a community celebration and NAMI Fundraiser

• Hometown Heroes banquet – recognizing nominated first responders in Marion and surrounding counties.

• Holiday Decorating Contests for Haloween and Christmas
