Student life can be stressful; you’re adapting to a new place, new people, new accommodation. All of this can be exciting and enjoyable, however it can also be difficult and challenging. Even if you find the switch to university life easy, you might find there comes a point when you aren’t coping with something as well as you thought you would do. It’s okay, to not be okay. I am writing because I want you to reassure you that help is available when you need it. Maintaining positive personal wellbeing is essential to making sure that you are able to make the most of your time at uni. That is why the Union and the University provide a range of support services to ensure that you are able to access support when you need it. When you need that help we are all here for you. And we want you to tell us you are having a problem, no matter what that is. If it concerns you it concerns us, so all you have to do is ask. We will be hosting a Wellbeing Week in Week 6 to help you be aware of how to achieve positive personal wellbeing. Details of these activities are on the back on this leaflet. There is also a map of some of the services that are available at Brookes to support through throughout your time here. A really good place to start when you feel you need some support is your Student Support Coordinator, they can point you in the right direction, but you can always access these services directly.
