Since the new school’s $5.3-million budget does not cover this addition, McNabb and a group of parents are asking for the community’s support in coming up with the extra $525,000 needed. Parents Christine Shantz, school council chair, and Corinne Shuh, chair of fundraising, were busy this week sending letters to individuals, businesses and parents, asking for donations. “I feel this is really important because we are a growing school. … We’ve always had space issues, since my children have been here, so it would be nice to just kind of do it right the first time and have the extra space because the children of Floradale are as entitled to the same amount of space as children at other schools,” Shuh said. “Just because our kids are in a school with a smaller population, we don’t want to see them not having things that other kids have,” added McNabb. New Shoppers Drug Mart store under construction bids for Canada Post franchise VANESSA MOSS Workers at the Elmira office of Canada Post are asking for community input and support as its national bureau applies to open a second outlet in the relocated Shoppers Drug Mart at the corner of Arthur and Church streets, slated to be complete by mid-fall. If need be, they are willing to extend the office’s hours to accommodate clients so that an additional site is not
necessary, said Kathie Plein, a Canada Post employee for more than 30 years. “I’d like to see public input: what they want. If they want their post office to remain a public post office or are we willing to just throw our hands up and say, ‘here, Shoppers, have it.’” Citing locales such as Floradale, West Montrose, Winterbourne and Conestogo, where post offices were replaced with community boxes and parcel pickup moved to Elmira and Waterloo, Plein said that contracting the service
